    Nicely done!
    At first I thought your approach was very illogical, but after a couple of minutes I realised why you have done it that way, and it makes sense.
    This is a great way to achieve a simple crossword in very little time, and quite easy to edit/adapt, too.
    Thanks a lot.

    wow. i am a slow learner but i could follow you step by step. I am making a "Bible Crossword Puzzle: Words that begin with A." I am definitely praying for ALL of those who are in this COVID-19 pandemic. Perhaps I can make it through to Bible words that begin with Z, and bless those of us who are Staying at Home. May God bless you through this Holy Week, from Jesus' suffering to his Resurrection.

    • @YAcostaSolutions
      @YAcostaSolutions  Před 4 lety

      Hi, Steven. Thanks for the compliment 🙂 I really appreciate it. One thing you can do to help you better align the text boxes to each other is using the Align Center options under Shape Format (you'll see this menu populate whenever you select one of the text boxes).
      Select all of the text boxes by row (one row at a time). Make sure they are as close to the top edge of the cell and click on Align Middle.
      Repeat the same thing for the columns (selecting one column at a time) and click on Align Center.
      I hope this helps and hope your puzzle is a success!

    what if I need a wider area? that margin is too small.

    • @YAcostaSolutions
      @YAcostaSolutions  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi, Miriam. If you make your margins wider, you may just need to make your squares smaller to fit longer words and/or make the puzzle area smaller if you want to fit the clues on the same page. Or you could print the clues on a separate sheet.
      If you plan to print it, make sure to test it so you know if the squares are big enough for people to write in them.
      You may want to try changing your view to Page Layout (View tab / Page Layout). This will make it easier to see your page as it would print (not sure why I didn’t use that on the tutorial - sorry for that). Page Break Preview can help too.
      Hope this helps. Please let me know if you still have questions. Thanks

    Hi, I need some help. I need a crossword checker when I make the puzzle with Excel. Something that when people submit it back to my website, I have a tool/solution that automatically checks it for the answers. Do you have an idea on how that could be done? We want to launch a crossword contest and we cannot go through every puzzle and manually check them. We need something that we can plug the solved crosswords in and have it checked for us. Any help would be great!

  • @shishilanpasalan4144
    @shishilanpasalan4144 Před 6 lety

    I made one and I printed it, it was OK but why was there no color on it?

    • @YAcostaSolutions
      @YAcostaSolutions  Před 6 lety

      Hi, Shishilan. And thank you for watching my tutorial :)
      When you say no color on it, are you saying that the black background didn’t print for you? As long as you use the Fill Color feature, it should work.
      If you mean why there is no color in the boxes for the letters, it’s because it’s not necessary. In most cases, it’ll look fine, be one less step and can save ink (if printing) to use no color in them and default the color of them to the color of the paper or the spreadsheet.
      If you’re asking why it’s only black and white, then it’s for a couple reasons. But you could use a different fill color if you prefer.:
      1. Black and white is a popular color scheme for crossword puzzles
      2. Black ink is cheaper than color ink, and for someone who may be printing several of these, this could be helpful (a gray background would be even cheaper to print!)
      I hope this answered your question. If it didn’t, please let me know. And thanks again!

      Hi, DKD Queen. Thanks for watching my video :)
      Give this a try to add your crossword to a PowerPoint presentation: select your entire crossword puzzle in Excel, copy it and then, in your PowerPoint slide, right click and choose Paste as a Picture. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you need more help.
      And good luck with your presentation!

    How to erase all letter

    • @YAcostaSolutions
      @YAcostaSolutions  Před 6 lety

      Hi, Noviel. I think you're asking about how to delete all the letters in the crossword once you've entered them so that you end with a blank crossword puzzle? If so:
      You'll first want to make sure you either make a copy of the filled crossword or write down the answers somewhere. In the video, I made a copy in a new tab inside the same workbook, but you can always save your copy to a different workbook. This is so you later don't forget what the answers are.
      Next, you'll highlight only the crossword area and press Delete. This will remove the letters, but not the numbers in the text boxes.
      If you have a moment, you can take a look at the video around 9:14 minutes in. You'll be able to see how I walked through these steps.
      I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you have more questions (or if I misread your question).
      And thanks for watching!
