I neither think nor want Rohit to be playing for Mumbai again because being a huge admirer of him, I feel he was disrespected by so casually sacking him as a captain after doing so much for that franchise and even if he himself wants to keep playing for Mumbai, the owners should only retain him if there are at least 6 retentions allowed because if only 4 are allowed then Surya, Bumrah, Hardik(assuming owners have brought him back for long term captaincy and not because of skill or performance) and Tilak Verma should be retained so it would not make sense to retain a 38 year old man who is no more the captain and has consistently performed poorly in IPL since 2017, the only reason they may retain him is due to his brand value and large fanbase.

Again experts stating the wrong reason for sacking of Rohit as captain. If he was so bad with the bat, he should have been dropped the way RIcky Ponting dropped himself.
Why are the experts not assessing his captaincy? How well or badly he has performed as captain? How crucial was Nehra ji standing on boundary setting field for Hardik in GT?
If nehra was so crucial & good that he can make a captain successful, why couldn't he do it for Gill this season or for RCB when he was their coach.
Giving Hardik's captaincy success to Nehra is ridiculous. That's like giving a stacked & big name filled MI management credit fot 5 IPL title for MI not Rohit.
MI management wanted to get Hardik at any cost (fair enough) but hardik saw that as an opportunity to show everyone (Rohit, Surya, Bumrah, Pollard) that he shouldn't have been let go.
Had he wee bit of respect for Rohit, he would have let Rohit captain this year, but Hardik's ego (discounting Nehra and Kristen contribution) made him demand captaincy.
Hardik was successfull in GT and he made the team to win trophy in the first season and runners up in second season. He should have stayed there instead of coming back to MI where he threw away the emotions of Fans for Money. RCB managemnet helped the MI managemnet to free up money by trading Green.

The Mumbai Indians fans didn't push it too much. Have you guys watched the video where Hardik Pandya was bad mouthing the Mumbai Indians set-up? The MI fans were right in their outburst. Mumbai Indians have been captained by some real stalwarts of cricket like Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Shaun Pollock, Rohit Sharma. Even when the Team was not performing during our initial years, MI fans didn't feel displeased with their captain. The selection of Hardik Pandya was never warranted; It was an absolute mess. The fans were willing to see another disappointing season, as long as the right person was leading it. Club/Franchise sports are based on regional pride, just as much as National sports are. To be a Mumbai Indians player you have to feel that you are a Mumbai Indian player! Hardik was just power-hungry! Once again, it is not about the money that MI spent to get Hardik Pandya, it is about what they did to Rohit Sharma.

Both Rohit and Hardik have to look inward at their performances. Rohit's form just cratered in the second half of the season. For India's sake, it was good that he showed some form in the last match. Hardik looked like he was just overwhelmed and it clearly affected his batting and bowling. The booing was just incredibly nasty and he just couldn't deal with the pressure and his batting and bowling form was incredibly ordinary. I think he had 2 or 3 decent matches with the ball, and one 40 odd he made in a losing cause as his best batting performance.
Rohit was booed and trolled in chinnaswamy, he got that team to the semifinals.

The one match he scored 40 odd runs people were cheering 40 him … had he led better people would still do that …when you are leading such a huge franchise you have to handle pressure better and if he couldn’t learn it after 14 matches probably he isn’t ready yet

MI deserved to lose ! In last few matches before they were officially knocked off they were fielding just 2 foreign players ! Thats a joke. In such a large squad such as ipl and where as fans we feel that 5 foreign players should be allowed (atleast say capping to 2-3 matches a season), since there are so many good internationals just warming the bench, MI had the so called luxury of playing just 2 internationals.. Nabi, Romario, Brevis etc are much better players than Dhir, Wadhera etc. You had players such as SKY yet you sent Dhir at no 3 on most occasions..

If Hardik is removed from captaincy them it's like the MI management stab him in his back cause he left his successful stint as captain of a champion team for people who don't respect him.
Hardik was a horrible captain. But I feel other senior players should also be blamed to screw up the team environment. Also the coach. Whats the point of having so many coaches if they cant improve the environment. Also some of the tactical decision/playing XI decision were horrendous. I feel next year they should just retain Sky, Bumrah and Tilak. Throw everyone else out including coaches.
