Had the honour of being in the crowd for this song at when we were young... incredible experience!!
Quantos anos tu tem agora?
Me too ! Day 2. 1st band I saw. 2:05 set :]
Heard this song days ago in an carpet I had abandoned in my old computer, along with other bands like Blink 182, Hoobastank, Weezer, Green Day, The Offspring, Sum 41, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, Papa Roach...Man I miss the early 2000's, still loving it!
+TheEtherny I concur. I recently heard Sum 41 was starting up again and started jumping up and down like a school girl.
i miss my boyfriend
+Befuzzle They were ever over ?
+TheEtherny If you want to hear a good mix of songs from that era on Pandora, put in "Summer Hits of the 2000's. Not a single song has played on that that I didn't like, and I've been listening to it for about four months.
me and my dad listen to this band alot
This song will never get old! Who's here listening after August 2020?

Back when music videos were still on MTV...
@@coreymitchell163 I actually have a serious hatred for "maps" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs because of how many times I heard it on MTV while getting ready for school.

My older brother's favorite song is always playing this song, and he died in 2016, 9 years ago, thank you for your song because with this I can still feel his presence by my side

deep.. i feel that.
I m sorry but if you are indian i can relate!
Never had? Geez, what do you mean dude?
Mom, it was never a phase. This still hits me like a truck, at the age of 31!
I'm 37 years-old this year (2023) - officially entering my middle-age - and I listened to this song on loop for an entire year after their Ocean Avenue CD originally released. I bought it *BEFORE* everyone knew who they were, because I had been a fan of some of their previous songs (like October Nights and For Pete's Sake) from their previous album (One For the Kids) after I had been exposed to it on the 2001 XBOX game *Amped.* 🤙
I remember it was 2004 and instead of starting college that year (Class of 04)... I was instead *REAPEATING* 12th grade (again). I failed my last year of High School and was really depressed over losing my friends as a result; I was also dealing with some (MEGA) heavy/bad stuff going on at home that had me really messed up and in a dark place (partly why I failed in the first place)... and then there was _this girl_ that I had been pining-over (who was two years younger than me) who I had a serious crush on for over two years... but like the movies and songs, she didn't even know I existed (cheer leader type). 😑
So, I remember that I listened to this song (specifically) on repeat over-and-over on the new 'no-skip' portable CD player I bought from my first ever part-time job flipping burgers, for the 1-hour bus ride I had every-single-morning too AND from school, during my senior year to help me cope; Ryan Keys anthems of rebellion and lost loves always made me both empowered... and honestly depressed at the same time (I guess, I was a bit of a reluctant first-gen modern American emo)... 🤷
The funny thing is that this song still hits in a weird way - I know it shouldn't at this point given where people my age SHOULD be in life... but I guess it does for me specifically. I'm 37 and I STILL haven't found that special girl who gets me (Probably won't now), and I still feel out of place with the people around me because I have so little in common with the people my own age. None of the same life experiences, none of the same experiences with relationships, and really little in common financially either... so oddly enough this song STILL depresses me, because it reminds me of days that I never would have imagined I would look back as *'BETTER DAYS.'* 🫡
lol, crazy how life works out.
Here's me pouring one out for broken kids, with broken dreams to become my fellow F**ckups screaming into middle-age - let's soak our woes and regret with thoughts of better days:
_"Too better days, and better music - here's to those lost kids, those dreamers we used to be, and what could have been if things had been different. They deserved better from the world... but at least they had d@mn good music!"_ 🍺
Can relate #nostalgic
I’m seeing both yellowcard and simple plan in concert this summer and I feel like it’s healing my inner child because they’re two of the bands who got me through SUCH a rough time in middle/high school. This song gets me every time and I can’t wait to hear it live.
I was 18 when this song came out and now I'm 35. It seems like just yesterday I was sitting in my bedroom listening to this. 😳
Yeah, times really flies! Its crazy!
Same!!! At 35 it still hits home!!
35 too..still rocking
wow me too 7th grade for me now im 30 and can crank this in my car as loud as i want without my mom yellin to turn it down, so some things are better now at last :)
I am 26 rn and I feel the same way. Emo’s Not Dead!
Ya know ... Since I was very young , I started loving rock and punk music ... And back then I was learning a violin ... My old friends used to discourage me saying that a violin is not cool , can't play rock songs , Why didn't you pick up guitar etc . Back then , the idea of violin playing rock songs was almost ludicrous... That was before I heard this song and got to know this legendary band ... Yellowcard proved me wrong , proved my friends wrong , proved anyone in the world who thought a violin can't play rock songs wrong ... This band opened my eyes and inspired me ... Yellowcard For Life !!!
THAT'S THE SPIRIT.
And plus vilons are like really badass. So yeah
Hell yeah! Look up Jean-Luc Ponty if you haven't heard of him. He's more jazz fusion, but he can rock the violin pretty hard. Albums Cosmic Messenger and Imaginary Voyage are two must haves. He will blow you away.
Although he's not as much rock as he is alternative, you should check out Woodkid. He has brilliant string and brass sections in all of his music!
Placebo has also been using a violinist, both in the studio and on tour, for the past few years. Her name's Fiona Brice and she's badass.
ScullyLikesScience Placebo has been my favorite band for many years now. :-)
When you hear this song, you just HAVE to scream along to the chorus no matter where you are, it’s mandatory
It really blew my mind when any 2000's songs remind me specific memories time and place.
Welcome to old
I Fkn miss you so much 1990's and 2000's , Life was so real!!
True, nowa days is only plastic and fake. I miss 90' so much too.

I love that Yellowcard had a violinist, I remember when I heard Ocean Avenue when it came out, I was an older teen and really into punk rock but the fact that they had a violinist made them super unique. Very cool band and this era was an absolute bliss!
You should check out The Toxic Airborne Event I got into them just because of the violinist.
If you want to hear the Violin on another level should listen to Kishi Bashi - I am the Antichrist to you.

"Todays music is filth next to my generations music." - Every age group ever.
It's actually a fact that music has gotten worse in the 10's compared with the 00's - there's interesting videos on the matter. I would gess part of the reason is that youtube views count towards chart success, enabling controversial videos set to awful music (e.g. Anaconda) to hit the charts without people actually liking the song. This has nothing to do with nostalgia or similar.
2023 and this one still gets me....
August 2023. Listening to this bring back the memories.
This is so good but you must hear “Winding Road” or “A Place Called Here” by SLT 🎸🤘🔥

This song came out when I was 17 years old and the first boy who ever liked me asked me to be his girlfriend. He was a sophomore and I was a senior and this was one of his favorite bands. I started to like all of his music... wore his hoodies... made out with him every chance we got... skipped class together... talked for hours on the phone... Needless to say I fell HARD for this kid. So Thanksgiving vacation comes along and we've been together for 3 months. I wanted so badly to make plans to get together with him but it didn't work out. Half way through our week off from school he starts acting fucking weird and tells me "I think you love me too much... I think we should see other people" BRO. When I tell you I played this song on repeat and laid on my bedroom floor dying inside, I'm fucking serious. Still to this day, whenever I hear this song it makes me think of my heart being fucking torn out of my chest and losing all control of my emotions. Everyone deserves a song like that... reminds us that we're real.
@Kate Hudson cringe, zodiac sign.
@Kate Hudson what the fuck

That's so frustating, but that's true, a relationship wouldn't hold out when the girl loves more than the boy...

We are similar age, and honestly: I think YOU where the one who had good taste... while all the other guys... they just had Nu Metal. lol. I think time has been kinder to your taste than theirs too. lmao. In the critical hindsight of 2023, History has been much kinder to ALOT of this older punk and emo stuff - which is now considered brilliantly written, soulful, fun and artistic... while stuff like Popa Roach, Mudvayne, Saliva, Incubus, Slipnot, ICP, Drowning Pool, Korn, Godsmack and Limp Bizkit.... well... 🤣
Though to be fair, I also listened to a lot of that cr@p too, back then (like everyone else). lol.
