  • This was a 2 day process building a porch and steps on our first hunting blind build. With no drawings or precise plans we just let the blind tell us what to build. We started out with plans for a 6x8 blind and now we have a porch, a huge set of steps, and a landing. Handrails, walls, and a roof are coming soon on the next episode. So LIKE & SUBSCRIBE and stay tuned because this will be a beautiful finished product!

The stairs are way too steep. Exiting and entering during the dark or rain would be dangerous. Never go over 8 inches in rise on any stairway. Gorgeous project and carpentry, but the run should have been longer. I would add a safety line and lock-in during my climb or decent.

What did you coat the platform with? Great build!

Sherwin williams super deck. Color is charwood and it seems to match the woods very well.

What is the technical name and size of those long bolts you used for the stairway platform?

Absolutely love the series! Just a question because it’s obvious y’all know what you’re doing, are you worried about being top heavy? Will you be anchoring it with guy lines or something? I ask because I’m planning on building a fairly tall blind soon.

With 6x6 24" in the ground and the angle bracing this thing doesn't move. It was a question in our mind but once we built it we have full confidence in the structure. Any taller and we would have to install additional anchors/lines of some kind.
