  • How to Create a Sticker Offset in Inkscape / Use with Cricut Design Space!
    Inkscape is a completely free design program anyone can use and I love working with it . . today's video shows you how I create offsets (you can use offsets on text or images, like for sticker making!)
    You can create text or upload PNG images you like to Inkscape. AFter creating the offsets they can be uploaded to Cricut Design Space to cut out!
    I am using plain white sticker paper from Online Labels in this project today.

    What if i don't use cricut for printing.If i want to print in Photoshop or Inkscape (if possible in Inkscape),do i still only have to just make offset or i have to make countour cut lines as well?

    • @AppalachianHomeCo
      @AppalachianHomeCo  Před 3 lety

      Hi. Are you cutting by hand? If so you wouldn’t need an offset border at all, just leave enough room between the images on the page and freehand cut around them. Or you could turn on the stroke (in Inkscape) for your offset and that would print a small black border around your offset that would serve as a cutting guide when you print, if that makes sense. And yes you can print in Inkscape, it will print whatever is inside your page when “show page border” is on. Hope that helps!

    So you don't have to resize in Cricut, when you're adjusting the Document Properties, set the scale at 72. Keep the display units as inches. If you only use Inkscape for Cricut designs, set this as a template or the default (also set the document to 12x12).

    Such a great tutorial! I do have a question though. I was using a different color for each of my letters, and after I ungrouped the letters and hit "path > union", the letters all became the same color. How can I prevent this from happening? Thanks!

    • @TracyKMainwaring
      @TracyKMainwaring Před 3 lety

      Perhaps make sure the letters aren't touching. It's unioning everything-- this is what you use to make it one long path to cut. If you sant individual colours, DOJ but union, but then select each letter separately using the shift key (while in node editor, I think). Then offset.

    mine keep saving with a black background any way to change that?

    • @AppalachianHomeCo
      @AppalachianHomeCo  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi. PNGs save without any background so the default background you see when you pull up your file is black on your picture viewer. If you drag your png into design space it will go in without a background at all so it would be fine to leave it this way. If you do want to see a white background you can add one by creating a white square and placing it behind your image before you save or export it. Hope that helps!

      Hi thank you so glad the video was helpful! I really didn’t need to create an svg because I wasn’t cutting it out as a cut file, I just wanted to print and cut around it.
