One genuine Pierce moment that stands out for me is the one at the end of the season two finale. He admits that he mistreats his friends because he expects to lose them in the long run because of who he is. So might as well accelerate the process. Donald Glover said the study group had tears in their eyes as Chevy delivered those lines.
Yeah, I imagine it was so touching because they knew that this was Dan Harmon speaking through Pierce, as was often the case whenever Pierce wasn't being a cartoonish villain. Dan Harmon (I imagine) basically wrote Pierce as a cautionary tale of what Dan himself might become in 20 or 30 years if he never got his shit together emotionally.

@@flacidhouse350 I can believe that. But to me it seems pretty obvious that Pierce is also written in large part from the place of Harmon's own insecurities about himself and how his own life and relationships might turn out.
Pierce having Annie as his favorite makes me sort of sad. She's everything hes not; except a little crazy.
I guess if he ever had a kid within all of his marriages, he'd want them to be Annie; intelligent and beautiful but still adorable in a doting sort of way but confident and resourceful.
His favorite is someone who cant become him.
Let's not paint Annie as some perfect character, she can be as manipulative as Pierce sometimes

It was really great to have some light shed on Annie's past and how she's been dealing with her demons. Loved this episode especially for the arc she goes through in this
This was a beautiful moment, but it’s cut short when u realize how conniving Pierce was. He planned this. I can sort of see why Chevy Chase hates his role on the show, but damn it’s just a show - still, such a sweet bittersweet scene
He hated it a lot more once Pierce's dad was given his real first name.

Bojack does a good job of demonstrating how generations can fuck over the next, but also that at the end of the day you're an adult and your actions have consequences. feeling SAD doesn't change that reality.
Honestly for as abhorrent as a person Pierce can be in the series it’s the little moments where he shows that he’s actually human made them very special. Admittedly it doesn’t change the fact that he was horrible as a person but it certainly explained things like when he was watching the film as to how he winded up as he did or when he treated his his friends, both good and bad ways, the way he did

This is the best Pierce. Loved his wisdom about luck in that one when he “drowned.” Or at the end of the Sophie B. Hawkins dance when he tells Jeff to go easy on Britta.
I know it was because of the discord between Chevy and Harmon, but it’s too bad he turned into a character that just spouted racist/sexist/homophobic one liners.
People in the comments don't seem to get the title of this video. Pierce having a heart doesn't reference him helping Annie, but him feeling sad about how his dad treated him. It's a proof that Pierce has feelings at all.

This is out of context..He went on to use Annie as leverage to do whatever he wants in the drug play..He was manipulating her.
Yes, he wanted to manipulate her, but I think when he saw her situation his concern was genuine.
Yes, the thing about pierce is that his motivation usually starts off as genuine. He wants to help others until he sees a way to improve his own situation that rises out of it. Personally for me Pierce is really relatable at times as he is possibly the most hated character while actually trying to just be part of the group and be cool... he is just mislead and wants love he never got...

If people are excluding you while you're acting like a jackass, it's on YOU to change that about yourself and not just expect reality and it's denizens to bow over for you. Just because youre sad in life, doesnt give you the excuse to gaslight your friends. That's just basic logic.

Well in the end he used this to blackmail Annie in her drugs skit into letting him say and do things out of line, so he was still selfish and manipulative

It was really dangerous for an adorable young girl like Annie to be living alone in a sketchy apartment

I liked Pierce from the beginning because of his paradoxical personality. Liked Abed, Pierce and Shirley till the end and Chang till they changed Chang's whole character.
He liked Annie the most and defended Britta on many occasions
Community wasnt the same after Chevy Chase left

This was not Pierce having a heart, it is actually one of the harder episodes of the show to watch because he acts like such an abusive figure to Annie. I've had men do shit like this to me, it's fucking accurate.
Both were broken people. It was a funny/sad/unfair episode, but it was a good episode.
