I'm going to build a ramp for my sister who is recovering from surgery and may be wheelchair bound indefinitely. This was done well and so informative! Thanks so much!👍
This is perfect! Exactly the kind of instruction I'll need if I go building a ramp at my new house. Even looks easy enough to do from my wheelchair
Thanks for sharing your story Paul. I hope he gets well soon and makes a full recovery
I’ve watched less than 1 minute and since I’ve been in a wheelchair for over 12 years and have had my wife build my ramp from my design some years back I saw a flaw in your design. There is no flat landing at the top of your ramp. It makes reaching the door handle way easier. I thought long and hard before we started building. Our landing is made from an old school TV Stand we got for
free. We turned it sideways, cut it in half, laid it flat and then put 1” plywood on top. For the ramp part we should have purchased 2 2x10’s, but made the 2x8’s with 2x2’s again with 1” plywood. Plywood was sourced from a friend’s mother’s ramp who had passed away. $90 total spent and at least half was fru fru., paint and aluminum angle trim.
Appreciate your caring for father in law.
Being active and not cooped up makes life better.
(Now back to the show).
Thank you sir. My Father in law just had a stroke and I just learned how to build a ramp for him using your video.
Thank you Paul. I am sure this has been a great help to so many, including your own family. I am currently making a ramp for my dad and your vid is super useful.
Good on you for doing this, making his recovery a lot easier.
Great job...
Thanks Lucas :)
Thank you!! The only video I've seen that goes through all of the details I was wondering about. Truly a super helpful video
Simple but very handy project! well done!
Thanks Chris
I love the video and the project, Mr. Tran.
Today's lumber prices are astronomical
Wonderful video. What a nice gentleman.
This is a nice build ramp, congratulation for this video
Very throughout. Thanks paul.
Nice job.
2019 entire build was $70. 2021, 1 sheet of osb = $65 (edit) very nice job. Looks good and I bet it works great.
Great project and story. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Debby
Thank you for doing this. I have a disability and my wife and I are looking to buy a house and we’re probably going to have to modify some stuff
Oh nice good luck on the house hunt!
Hey paul , Do you have any ideas on how to make a semi portable or foldable one? Have an elderly neighbour who needs to get down 4 silly steps with her mobility scooter as i cant do shopping for her this week (Covid)
Hey, this is from Family Handyman just want to follow up. We are still interested in your video, please contact us back to discuss more information.
