The flag/Anthem and country I swore an oath to protect AGAINST ALL ENEMIES both foreign AND DOMESTIC. Much like most vets will say: MY OATH HAS NO EXPIRATION DATE either!!!
@@pmdjiopenflje the fact that you think calling an entire group of people “racist” is “nothing” tells me everything I need to know about you…..I’ll GUARANTEE you WOULDN’T be saying that if that group were blacks or hispanics BUT because it’s White men that they’re saying it about….thats “nothing” to you. @YES can you post the original Jason Giambi call, where Vinny from Flanders suggests (perhaps seriously) that Giambi should have been brought back as a player/manager.
Damn this brings back memories, can’t believe this is from 14 years ago. I remember all the talk back then how the Yankees were basically ruining joba. Imagine what his career might have been if they kept him as a reliever
you got that right! this show was a month ago, but nothing has really changed. I just don't think we have a choice right now with Wang straining his shoulder earlier today. But like I mentioned before, I don't really care who gives us 5 innings...but Joba is unhittable when he comes in from the BP!
mike is right, joba was REALLY struggling at this point. the control was not there, he was such a lights out reliever but he had trouble accepting his role as a starter. however his future belongs as a starter because he's so damn good and his stuff is nasty.
@JCBizkit87 I'm all for givng a guy a chance but Joba was a very rare breed. I've been watching baseball games for more than 40 years and I've never seen a rookie relief pitcher come up from the minors with so much and intensity and dominance. To make him a starter was like trying to take a world class sprinter and make him a marathon runner.
Mike was right all along... Joba was a reliever, should have stayed as such. The Yankees did everything they could to destroy his career. The Yankees should trade Joba out of mercy before he becomes washed up by 2011
I don't know why, but I've gotten those games. I'm not a Mets fan, but when I've listened to Francesa and The Mets come on in the afternoon, they cut Francesa off and play The Mets game. Also, when The Giants played The Panthers on Thursday night, this year, they played the game on WFAN. Maybe it's because I live in upstate NY? I don't usually listen to games on WFAN though. Yankees and Giants are always on TV.
@JCBizkit87 What Mike was saying here and I wholeheartedly agree with is that if you looked at Joba the reliever circa 2007 and Joba the starter, you saw two different pitchers if not two diferent people. As a starter the intensity was gone since he had to worry about pacing himself and throwing his secondary pitches. While he could become a decent starter, the ceiling wouldn't have been as high if they left him alone as a set up man and groomed him for the closer role.
He pitched well his last start. Career high 8 innings like 4 hits 5 ks. He will get better as he learns how to be more efficient. 2010: CC, Joba, AJ, Wang, Hughes I have a feeling cash trades for a reliever- maybe street??
Lol fucking Greinke went in to win a Cy young that season and 6 years later Porcelo gets his own CYA, meanwhile Joba and Hughes, who the fuck knows where they are
@JCBizkit87 Well, by trying to make him a starter, they weakened him as a reliever. I think he'll always have a better upside coming out of the bullpen so the Yankees would be wise to let him develop there rather than keep the ping pong game going.. Don't you think?
A guy with four plus pitches who has been a starter in college and in the minors should be a starter. Joba has the ability to be a good or even great starter. That is much more valuable than a guy out of the pen.
that decision has fixed itself phil hughes has been outstanding in the bullpen hes our 8th inning guy now and i wouldnt change that right now yankees are the hottest team in baseball right now and everything has been going smoothly.. yes joba was better in the bull pen but hes been alright starting and u know hes not gonna give u innings so u have a good bullpen to back him up if i was joe ill leave everything the way it is right now

They should've kept Joba as a reliever now his best spot is on the buffet line
Joba might even still be pitching today if it hadn't been for the Yankees' stupid management of him.
🌮🌭🍔 🥪🍕🍟🍝
Classic!! Wfan is the best for Yankee sports talk! Can't believe it's been 14 years since this clip.
This is classic WFAN

Mount Rushmore call right here.
Time has definitely proved Mike right on this one..
A broken clock is right twice a day. As for Joba, what a waste.
This is classic Mike. Love it!
this is great. I'm a New England guy but I love hearing new yorker's arguements.
The Mike & Alex Show. That would be great radio!
I just have one quick question. Is Andy Pettite a starting pitcher?
Greatest rant ever
WAIT A SECOND..... JOBAA wait a second! ALEX
Andy Pettite is a starting pitcher lol
I remember watching this exact call live one random afternoon just out of high school.
Whata throwback
My dad lives through this man
Francesa on 0.5x speed is absolute gold!
Nevah nevah land
Can Andy Pettitte pitch the 8th inning? Asking for a friend.
LOL that was funny!! I love watching this guy, he's great
Gold Jerry. Gold!
‘Alright, go AHEAD….WAIT A SECOND, wait a second…..
1:55 ANDY PETTITTE'S IS A STARTING BITCHER!
Making Joba a starter was one of the worst moves in baseball history. He was almost unhitable.
Being in the pulpit for this was an all time moment of my life, in a lot of ways.
@YES can you post the original Jason Giambi call, where Vinny from Flanders suggests (perhaps seriously) that Giambi should have been brought back as a player/manager.
I wish i could get WFAN or yes network down in NC...I've spent the last hour watching Francesa rants...pure gold
Obviously Alex was wrong but Mike wasn’t even listening to him
Damn this brings back memories, can’t believe this is from 14 years ago. I remember all the talk back then how the Yankees were basically ruining joba. Imagine what his career might have been if they kept him as a reliever
I liked it more when mike couldnt get rid of the callers himself. Lol, he has to do the waving off the hand.

i never thought he should have become a starter in the first place
Hughes amounted to nothing. Joba was ruined.
Gotta Love Mike Francesa! He is a pain in the ass, but he makes amazing points. He is very knowledgable.
-Jared, From Brooklyn
He's right tho- at best Joba will one day be an OK starter but he could have been brilliant in relief

Francesa - "Wait a Second Remix"
For his career, 10-3 record with 3.27 ERA and a ton of Ks as a starter! Tell me how great Porcello is again.
Mike was right all along... Joba was a reliever, should have stayed as such. The Yankees did everything they could to destroy his career.
The Yankees should trade Joba out of mercy before he becomes washed up by 2011
He took all of Francesa fat away.

@JCBizkit87 LOL, you think Joba should have been a starter?
Anyone who looks objectively at the numbers can not argue this fact. It's not even close.
LoL!!!

Got a question that this clip couldn't provide an answer to:
Is Andy Pettitte a starting pitcher?
I'm a Mets fan and couldn't agree with you more, there are no 'should haves' in sports
most of the time Francesca comes up with an idea he is wrong in the long run.
@JCBizkit87 Well, by trying to make him a starter, they weakened him as a reliever. I think he'll always have a better upside coming out of the bullpen so the Yankees would be wise to let him develop there rather than keep the ping pong game going..
Don't you think?
there was a year were Jaba was really good.
I'm too young to know the context, why does Mike get so mad when Andy Pettitte is brought up
I love this guy
"Phil Hughes is a starter!" He is now the best 8th inning RELIEF pitcher in baseball.
A guy with four plus pitches who has been a starter in college and in the minors should be a starter. Joba has the ability to be a good or even great starter. That is much more valuable than a guy out of the pen.
Mike Francesa has serious problems
Have another sip of soda Mike!!
