- Help me decide another bike for the channel. Would you like to see a classic 1996 Yamaha RD350R on the channel? Tell me your thoughts on the this potential purchase.

Go for it Richard , you’ll love it . I past my test on a RD 125 back in 82 . Best 125 in the day great engine and not forgetting that power band .wish I still had it today.
I shall Andrew. The RD125 was great, and if derestricted, it was so fast. That said, I was much light in those days and now i feel I have the mass of Jupiter 😆. Let's go get this RD 👍
Nah! it's a silly idea ... oh! hold on a minute. Last summer I bought a old worn out 1998 XJ600n and have had a great deal of enjoyment out of fettling it back to life. It has cost me more that £3000 so far and is probably worth £600 but it's a hobby and it keeps me happy. So in the end why not.

Hi Richard, I was never into 2 strokes at all but a few of my mates were. There's no pockets in shrouds mate. I fancied a Speedmaster but already have 3 bikes. I came across an immaculate 16 month old one with 300 miles on the clock at a local dealers, the guy traded it in for an HD. Took it for a test ride and bought it. You go for it mate...you can always sell it again in the future. Thanks for the videos.
Hi ed, yes, the RD400 was a great hooligan bike. Like you say, start of the street fighter - most often with the local police 😆

Richard I'd love to see that, something completely different to what any other vloggers have. I've never had one but in the eighties I did have a RD 250 but it's buzzy screaming nature did nothing for me and i swapped it for an XBR500 single, lovely bike. The 350 i suppose is a different animal, go for it.

Richard my honest opinion yes go for it I've had them in 85 and 86 loved them sold it 1995 and regreted it since wish I kept mine in box and my rd 125 lc we only live once no rerun enjoy every day cause there be a day we can't enjoy them anymore go and get it ❤❤

I would say get it, you only have one life. Life however has taught me that when you really want something you buy it straright away, funds permitting. When you start thinking and debating then it's best to move on and keep searching.

One of my best ever bikes was a YR5 350. Smooth as silk. Twenty or so years later I had a 350 YPVS. Was essentially a boy-racer with too narrow a power band. Stolen 3 times, last time for good. I was not sorry to see it go. As I'm now a septuagarian rider of a CB 1000R, you should not be offended if I tell you that we are too old for an RD 350. Ride safe.

Richard I had an RD250E in 1978 and loved it but back then I loved anything to do with motorcycles. Also had the R1 and a Mille R Aprillia. Last year I bought a street triple 765R (may 23) and a Tiger Aragon Rally (September 23). Point is I have a brother who has been in the bike industry since leaving school and restores these in retirement. He currently has just finished a KH400 and KH500. It has sparked a new love for two strokes and I am seriously considering selling the 765R (with only 718 miles on it) and buying an RD. So I would love to follow your journey. Yes great idea i have a 1970 yamaha yas1 sits well alongside the bsa go for it i have a yamaha tricity 300 for the days when my 70 yr old bones are bad love the bsa but its hard to beat the smell of two stroke have been riding since 1970 90cc to 1400cc great video's

I love my first bike my Honda CM -185 Twin Star but l am twice as big as I was in high school. You can not go home again. If you try you will be disappointed 😞. Like going back to your old neighborhood and find it's a ghetto.
Like to see an RD on the channel with some spannering. I rode 2 strokers in the 80s lots of ring ding ding smokey fun especially the powerband.
Powerbands - nothing like a powerband to wake ones soul :). Oh, there will be plenty of spanners and hammers :). Deposit to be layed today :)
I would like to see a 2stroke on the channel and the rd350 would be a great bike to see but it’s your money and I wouldn’t want to waste your money if it went tits up so it’s down to you it would bring memories back for me coz a mate of mine who I rode with and still do to this day had the rd350 naked back in 1978 I think it was and what a great bike and 2 stroke sound you can’t beat especially as I come from a mx background it’s your money and decision ride safe take care all the best in what you decide bye for now

The rd350r looks terrific. Personally I would like to see one on your channel. In the 80’s I had a Suzuki gt750 triple and my mate had the rd350lc.

This is a great question. I am a massive fan of 2 strokes having owned GT250's, GT380 GT750 and H2 amongst others. I would love another however, i wouldnt buy one because I don't have the time and skills to keep one on the road. As you have the skills and don't mind constantly working one one (you might actually love this aspect) then you should go for it!
Hi David, yes, some skills but those that are missing can be learnt I guess. I love 2 strokes like you. Maybe it's that hooligan persona they bring 😆. I can now confirm that the RD has been bought and more vids on that in the very near future. Too her out for a ride last night and it was crazy wonderful. This is the range that was made in Brazil. I understand that the standard exhaust may (and I say 'may') have a washer in it to reduce breathing. I am very tempted to just go the hog and get some expansion chambers and annoy the neighbours 😆. And the rejet of course. I have had the GP100, X7, F2 RD350YPVS, BandQ lawn mower, love two strokes. I shall make an introduction video on Monday for the channel. Let's see what was delivered in the van.

I think I shall Alan. I am in Tenerife in April on a T120 and a Bobber. Keep an eye out for old fart antics in the sun. I shall try to pull some 60 year old woman 😆
My thoughts are really do you think you have the time for another bike, ie will it dilute what you already have? I came here for the GS, so hoping for more mods, experiences with that. If you want another bike that's your choice, good luck either way. Regards.

Hi Jack yes, the RD 350 is from Brazil and was the final lot of rd350s made. They all came from Brazil in that era. Some say they are bad but that’s not the case as Yamaha would’ve controlled the quality assurance of each of the bikes that came out of the manufacturing process, admittedly, the paint work on those models from Brazil was not as good as the paintwork from Japan.
Hi,yes i think it would be a great addition to your channel 🙂. The only thing too consider is as you probably know the 350r was built in Brazil and i seem to remember the paint finish wasn't up to the same quality as the Japanese built one's. Also from a collector point of view they are less valuable, but if you get it at the right price,it should still hold its money. I had the ypvs with the small cockpit fairing in red/white, brilliant bike 😁
Hi Bally, you are right, it was built in Brazil. The story of this bike is quite interesting, having spoken to the son of the now deceased owner, this will be a vid by itself. the owner has had it since 2009 with low mileage. Just waiting to give the seller a deposit :)

As they say BP "you only live once", I'm considering a stroker as a winter project, possibly a Kwacker triple but who knows? Prices seem to have rocketed for anything decent these days so fingers crossed 🤞

I`d rather see an RD 350 ............. in my garage LOL. Not having done my test till late in life I missed all the 70`s/80`s 2 stroke twins and triples, so I have recently bought a Suzuki GT200 X5 and love it, great fun bikes.
The X5 and the X7 are great bikes. A set of Micons, larger jets by two sizes and you are away :)

This is somewhat of a tough call for me. Being a person who lives in 2 different world's; that being the present & the past, here are my thought's. #1 Follow your heart, but make prudent decision's. #2 Analyze from all angles what you expect to put in to this; compared to what you expect to get out or accomplish from this venture. When I was in my 50's, I was just like you in reminiscing about all of the bikes in my past( I still do it); however for me it was not a wise/prudent move in purchasing one. So if I had to give you my gut feeling in purchasing this bike it would be no. BUT, the flip side of that is ; Life Is Short & hopefully we only go through this once; so if you feel strongly enough about it I would go for it. To answer your other question in re-guards as to would I like to see this bike on the channel; it would depend on certain things. I'm o.k.with some tinkering on bikes, as I am subscribed to some you-tubers who do this. However, I prefer sight-seeing/touring videos a bit more. So I guess my bottom line would be to go more for a retro bike like your BSA or like you mentioned a Triumph T120. Good luck to you in whatever decision you make. Once again Larry, you are full of wisdom. In the 1980's and 90's, 2 strokes were the thing. I think buying it and having it for a few months might be a good thing. In April, I am over to Tenerife for the african sun again. Mark and I will be hiring a T120 and a Bobber for 4 days. The videos from that should be good. Two old farts trying to pick up the ladies by looking cool (it'll never happen 😆). There should be some great videos from that break in Tenerife so keep watching 👍. And wish you were joining us!!
Yes, Tenerife is an excellant destination. I watched many of Freddie Dobbs/Monica videos from there. What a beautiful place. I am envious my man & I too wished I were there with you. I would say a two stroke RD350 would be fun to see but i favour air cooled RD s up to the LC, i lost interest when the powervalve came along it's just my opinion. You need to get the bike that suits you.
The pull is i know the YPVS engine, so it should not be such a challenge. It'll be fun and the wheelies will remind me of when I was stupid and young - ahhhh, they were the days :)
Interesting one BP I have thought about going back to two stroke but do we look back with rose tinted specs as back then they were great bikes and of course and fun then , and now still interesting .So is the performance and general ride as good as what you can buy today for similar money . They are great to see around in really nicely fettled condition but do they belong in our past because when revisited will it be a disappointment and feel a little dated I am not sure myself on this but the choice of course is yours but I would watch with great interest .😉👌👍
Hey Mal, well. Latest news. Picked up the girl yesterday (friday) and yes, it was a crazy thing to do but what the hell. Intro video on Monday I think. She is a bit dusty but the foundation is wonderful. Took her for a quick spin friday evening and she rides beautifully. Crazy powerband but I am sure there is more in her. A few ponies are waiting to be released from the stable which I shall have a look at that 😆

Have you tried to reset light. Start. Run 40sec. Stop for 15sec. Repeat. Dealer told me to do it before doing update. Usually 3 or 4 attempts. Think 3rd time it went out. Never come on since. Also when it's sorted make sure engine light goes out before pressing start. May have told you this before?
Hi Charlie, I have. And it works. It works well. Three of four times and the light goes out. Then when I ride it, it comes back on 😫. Are you doing anything else when riding? To stop the light from coming on?
@@bankruptpensioner No. Never come on in last 600miles. Only thing is I check light goes out before starting. Its in the manual which I never read, the starting bit anyway. If it keeps coming on then dealer should do the update. Mine did.nt do it as problem cured but he said if it does pop in to have it done. Ten minute job he said. Have you seen the chap doing centre stand kit. Classic motorcycle channel. 40 bike collection. In last 2 minutes of the vid.
