It Started Out Like Any Other Field Trip

  • In this video, we show a real-life example of a dog starting to overheat on one of our field trips and demonstrate the immediate actions taken by responsible dog walkers to cool him down. Watch as we quickly recognize the signs of overheating in her (lethargy) and take steps to ensure the dog’s safety and comfort (find shade and provide immediate hyrdration).     Signs of overheating in dogs include:
    1. **Excessive Panting**: Rapid and heavy panting that doesn't subside with rest.
    2. **Drooling**: Excessive salivation, more than usual.
    3. **Red or Pale Gums**: Gums that appear bright red or unusually pale.
    4. **Increased Heart Rate**: Faster than normal heartbeat.
    5. **Lethargy**: Weakness, fatigue, or sluggishness.⬅️ What we saw in Callie!
    6. **Vomiting or Diarrhea**: Gastrointestinal distress.
    7. **Dizziness or Lack of Coordination**: Stumbling, staggering, or disorientation.
    8. **Collapse**: Fainting or collapse, which is a serious emergency.
    9. **Glassy Eyes**: A distant or glazed look in the eyes.
