Second only to Pecos Hank. And he is a well-known tornado chase celebrity.
That was extraordinary "playing chicken". I truly did not expect you to stay in place for that outbuilding to disappear into the advancing rotation. And then to see all of its disintegrated pieces whirling around. I was like whoa! Not only is this an awesome video of its own, but it is the very first video from this outbreak that is filmed in 2160p.
Somebody wrote earlier "instant classic". This is truly amazing. You were so fortunate to be positioned where you could make a quick getaway. And even then for a few moments, I was like, "Oh oh, can he get away from this?" And as others here in the commentary have noted before me, the video is silent of commentary, stable, calm and unbroken. Only the sounds of nature can be heard as the roar gets closer and closer. A new benchmark of tornado imaging. A tour de force of chasing footage by which all other tornado chase footage, going forward should be measured. Even Pecos Hank!

I have lived in north central Iowa my whole life and have seen a lot of tornadoes (the '76 Jordan tornado was the worst). This one is truly a sight to see! If you are able to get close enough for audio, the sound is absolutely terrifying! It makes you realize the extent of power that sucker has (like a massive freight train coming at you)! I drove along beside a tornado once going in the opposite direction, after it swiped my wipers, side mirror, and hub cap I decided to hit the gas pedal!! Thanks for your mutual love of storms/tornadoes. Extreme weather is a reality and every year gets crazier! : } *** interesting info about the Jordan tornado as reported by the NWS "The tornado destroyed virtually every house and business building in the community, but all residents survived. The tornado was accompanied by an F-3 anticyclonic tornado two miles to the southeast. One unusual aspect of the F5 cyclonic tornado and F3 anticyclone tornado was the simultaneous right turn made by each.[7] Dr. Ted Fujita, the originator of the Fujita tornado intensity scale, said the tornado which hit Jordan was one of the most intense and destructive he had ever studied"

To this day I have not seen the severity of destruction that tornado caused. I clearly remember seeing what Jordan looked like after that, not only did the tornado damage everything in its path, it disintegrated it into dust! There was NOTHING left of that town, it was never to be again either. My Sunday school teacher lived in Jordan and by God's good grace saved her and her family . The basement stairs they hid behind was snatched up by the tornado but they remained suffering no harm.

God that updraft....! Those incredible high instability AND shear tornados with crisp rapidly spinning collar clouds and ghost trains and shot out in in open fields are some of the most intense displays of nature's power that this planet has to offer. Especially when captured as perfectly as this. Jaw-dropping. This one's In the canon of great tornado captures for sure.

Our thoughts are with those affected by these crazy storms, but geeze Louise, there's something beautiful about tornadoes. Their sheer size, the noise and the unrelenting power of nature. Destroying everything in their path and yet they seem to choose, almost methodically, what they consume and what they don't.
We are all of us so insignificant and powerless against these incredible storms.
    Stay safe, everyone.

This is one of the better Tornado intercept videos I have seen, mainly due to where you placed your commentary and the silence during most of the video to give your viewers who have not seen a Tornado an understanding of how they form, what they sound like and especially how they move.
I've been in several Tornadoes, the worst when caught outside while golfing, when one developed out of clear skies that clouded up rapidly. By the time my Dad and I heard thunder, it was too late to find shelter, and I heard the sound as the cliche goes of a dozen freight train engines miles from train tracks.
I ran for shelter, but did not make it, and was caught in zero visibility, pelted by twigs churned up by the funnel, which was fortunately small and had not yet passed over buildings yet. My dad saw me enveloped in dust as he remained by the first tee, then as the funnel passed I went to the clubhouse, then noticed an 80 foot tall pine tree, the course's largest, knocked to the ground at its base.
I was fortunate not to have run in that direction.
My arms had scratches from the twigs, but nothing hit my head. The astonished clubhouse owners were stunned to see that the Tornado had stripped a number of shingles, trashed the first six holes of the golf course with debris on the greens, and lifted the roofs off of two outbuildings.
My Dad and I, with a gentle rain falling and the thunder all but gone, resumed playing twenty minutes after the Tornado hit but we could not putt on most of the greens.
We were complaining before the Tornado that the course was too crowded, after the Tornado, we were the only ones on the course.
Other Tornadoes we had been in, more than fifteen years earlier in the mid 60's, did serious damage to our landscaping in Tinley Park, IL and destroyed my brother's grammar school, but happened at night so no children were hurt.
We moved to California to escape such weather, but of course had to deal with quakes, the worst being the '89 World Series quake and the '94 Northridge quake.

I find tornados mesmerizing. I have seen 3 in my life. All were at the smallest rating of F1. But fascinating to see. 2 were very up close as they passed in the field behind my house and one in between mine and my neighbors. I stood on the front porch and watch it churn up the soy beans in the field then whirl between the houses as it picked up their swingset and tossed it into the power lines killing the electricity. And just as quickly it was across the street in the next field tossing beans around.

I agree with you 100% that many not most do not have an understanding of what’s taking place in this day and age. However, that doesn’t mean that when adversity strikes I can not have empathy or care for those who have suffered. God’s word tells us that even those who have faith and believe will suffer. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. May God’s will be done and your life be filled with His abundant blessings
