    great work. You should look into using the eco weld glue from Italy. Works like 90% as well as contact cement, but way better for you to breathe. It literally looks and smells like elmers glue, but holds surprisingly well, even on oily leathers. More than strong enough for the purpose of holding the leather just until you get it stitched.

    Parker, your videos are so well thought out and a pleasure to watch. Especially the little things like pulling the various tools off the rack and the spools of thread. You've got such an efficient style of movement that is so professional and fun to watch. Love your channel and look forward to you getting "smellivision" so we can smell all that gorgeous leather! 😊 Thanks, man, all the best to you!

    Great video...as usual..!! Love your bag!! A couple of suggestions from a bag making lady, I would make it just a little bit larger and also I would box the corners to give it some depth. “Birthing the bag” is always the hardest part...LOL!! I love the leather you used for this project ♥️

      Wider with a couple darts in each side to cup the bottom of the bag would still keep it a slim style with a wee bit of room

    • @WitTwixt
      @WitTwixt Před 5 lety

      It's a lovely mini cross body - I agree with the others about making it a bit larger and adding darts towards the bottom. The area of accessibility allowed by the zipper looks a little tight - it's much more comfortable to be able reach in and grab things without having to contort your hand. Maybe adding width to the top and def. extending the zipper. But it's a great experiment, I can't wait to see what else you try out :)

    I'm just learning and barely even started making my own works at 40 years old. It's nice to see the steps involved. personally i would've liked to see some liners put in, but this was for the experiment not the product line. The ten basic tools video was the most helpful thing for me, the last time i did leather work was 25 years ago, some of my tools were long outdated. this has been great for learning and your videos have been very helpful. Thank you! If i could make a single request i would like to see an apron made with a purpose of accessories pockets.

    A little tip I picked up when I started making leather tool bags and sewing them inside out as you did. Take the end of a broom stick and put it in a vise and use it to fold the leather right side out. It works a lot better than trying to do it by hand.

    My husband bought me a Singer Patcher 29K leather machine a couple years ago, but I don't have allot of tools yet, what can you use instead of the fancy tool you have to thin out the thickness of the leather when you are sewing two layers together like you did on the sides and when you turned over the seam to sew in the zipper? I had to replace the belt for the treadle but the machine is a dream to work with, I've even used it for heavy canvas roofer nail pouches, vinyl and heavy weight denims.

      I am also new to zippers...as far as i can tell, the tape width on zippers varies. There are also different sizes for the teeth making them smaller and the sizes are numerical...like #4, #6, #8, #10..and so on. the larger the number the bigger the teeth.
