  • Going down the Gannaga Pass was absolutely fantastic and so exciting! This pass is in the Tankwa Karoo National Park and is a must visit if you are in the area. Driving down was a real treat, especially with all the rain that washed out the gravel road. It was slow going, but the views from this pass were stunning. I must say the Renault Kwid was amazing on this road, we even passed a large 4x4 which had a flat tyre, but we arrived at the bottom with no casualties whatsoever. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #karoo #tankwakaroo #gannagapass #renaultkwid

    Ganaga was bui!d in 1893 by some of my ancestors and the Shepherds and Warricks from Scotland! My great grandfather was Jan Willem Heymeriks Augustyn from Germany! Last part of Ganaga they have to put two pairs of donkeys to get the wagon on top! There was a old pass from the middle turn which was much steeper!!!!!

      I shall be completely honest. I'm very glad too that we didn't go up, but down. At the bottom of the pass, we happened upon a rather large and fancy 4 x 4 on the side of the road. The driver was changing a tyre. I couldn't help but smile and in that moment felt very proud of the Kwiddie. 😁🚗 And yes, the Tankwa is gorgeous. Some of the worst corrugation we've ever experienced, but gorgeous all the same!

    I thought Sonia be grabbing the chair. Do you guys have signal when you at this remote location. Love this pass im definitely putting it on my list

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  Před 2 lety +2

      Absolutely zero signal in this area! 🚫 You're so right, Sonia was gripping her seat from beginning to end! There were quite a few deep ditches where the soil had been washed away by the rain, but very exciting to navigate! A definite must-do when you're in the area.

      Those ditches were deep in some places, but we loved every moment! We were very glad that we were going down that day though, not sure we would've made it all the way up! 😨

      Definitely one of the most exciting passes we've travelled. Let's be real, there was some speaking in tongues at certain points. 🤩

    Sjoe, ek ken die vrees vir afgronde... Gewoonlik wil die bestuurder nog rondkyk... Maar dis ongelooflik dat jul dit met die rooi karretjie dit kan ry.. Dankie dat ek ook kan saamreis. Jul maak 'n ander wêreld vir 'n mens oop..

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  Před 2 lety

      This pass was particularly tricky because of the ditches in the road, but the little car navigated it fantastically! The sheer cliffs are what make it really exciting! And yes, the driver is ALWAYS looking around. The world is waiting for you to go and explore. 😁

  • @tobiasjfmostert

    Did you guys air down your tyres or did you just go for it?

    • @DustBugsTravel
      @DustBugsTravel  Před rokem +1

      Nope, never. Not even once. I immediately have to add and say we always take it super slow and don't mind a lot of bumps and shakes. Have a fantastic time and safe travels! 🚙🤩
