- In this video, I rank all the cameras I own. There are eight cameras that I give my thoughts and opinions on, telling you what is the most valuable to me and my work.

This is to encapsulate my thoughts and opinions on my gear coming into 2024. Come 2025, I would like to see how my opinions may change.

It seems to be an obligatory part of any "I own the 5d Classic" video to mention how bad the screen was. The screen was good by the standards of 2005. It was larger and higher resolution than a lot of the other DSLRs, and of course that fact that it had a screen meant it instantly had an advantage over a film camera (like the ones you placed higher on the list).
Ribbing aside, good video. I enjoyed hearing your casual "real" approach to the cameras. I tend to agree with a lot of what you said. I love shooting film, but I think digital is a better tool in the vast majority of situations. I have also owned and enjoyed many modern mirrorless cameras, but prefer a DSLR.

I have a 70d, 6d, 5d III and EOS R, I really like the EOS R but I still use the 5d III, it's something special and so easy to use

I own all the 5Ds except for the 5D4 and agree entirely about the first one. My personal favourite camera is the 5D3, which together with the 1Dx has the best Canon colours, in my opinion. I can't get along too well with the R either, but will say that the RF lenses are mostly superb and they make it all seem worthwhile, once you've bitten the bullet and paid for them. Even the 24-105mm f/4 has no obvious flaws and the 14-35mm f/4 is the best wide-angle I've ever had.
RF glass has also just been so exciting as far as new categories. Love the idea of the 24-105mm 2.8, even if its big enough to have its own gravitational pull. I do hope that canon will open up the RF platform to third party manufactures. Love your setup! I don't own one but shot weddings with a 5d mIII owner and loved every time I got to borrow it.
Agree with all you said about the EOS R. It’s a great camera, a few things that annoy me on it (no control wheel, c’mon!) and the autofocus and tracking should be better but it’s an overall great camera. I’d like to get my hands on an R5 and keep the R as the backup.

I hate to say it, but the 5d battery (BP 511 / 511a) is the easiest battery to find on the internet, even in 2024.
You can find BP 511 batteries…. Same way I can technically find parts for my film cameras. But the original manufacturer isn’t supporting it anymore and I wish they did.
I use a mixture of original Canon items and Ansmann third-party items which last longer than the OEM items.

Given how much you liked the compacts, and you're not again crop sensors, you really should rent an OM-1 and try it out. It's got a joystick (sort of)! I run a similar gamut - for film right now I'm trying out a Pentax LX - I should get my negatives back tomorrow. For full frame, the Pentax K-1 so I can use all my older film lenses (but it really is a unique FF). I have the Canon 70D as well - really enjoy shooting that too.
I love a lot of cameras Olympus has put out over the years. Micro four thirds has always been something I'm interested in and hopefully I can get a system sooner than later. A photographer, love his work, Mitchell Kanashkevich. He shoot four thirds and gets some of the best cultural photography I've seen. Love your setup you got going, hope those negatives came out great!
@@jmizaur Yeah I’ve been a big fan of Olympus since even film days. Rumor is a new flagship will be announced on the 30th, so that should bring the current OM-1 and all E-M1s down. M43 has a good niche - good, but smaller and lighter. My travel kit fits in a small bag and has an ultrawide prime, normal zoom at f/2.8, a lightweight telephoto at f/4 and a portrait lens at f/1.8. Both zooms are weather-sealed too :) Negatives came out great. I picked up a Plustek film scanner - should’ve gotten that forever ago :)

Film is still better overall and it actually forces you to learn about photography. dslr cameras is more of a cheat because the camera does more of the exposure for you. It really doesn't allow for true creativity as much as 35mm slr film cameras.
Time to upgrade
