Concerto stratosferico. L'aria del Barbiere assolutamente inimitabile. La sola cantante che ha dato una faccia, un'anima e un carattere a Rosina. Le altre ( Berganza, Horne ecc) sono delle pallide cose.
La Rosina della Berganza è così sopravvalutata.

@@fabriziogarzi9892 Entrambi sono soprani lirici. La Callas era un soprano drammatico e Rosina è per un mezzosoprano o un soprano scuro.
I am more and more convinced that when she sang at events with a lot of media attention (premieres at La Scala, television, etc.) her throat always closed a little. Here, her throat is definitely open
She should have played this arias at the filmed recital in Paris... the Hamlet and Boheme are jewells to have on image and sound...❤😓
She in exemplary voice here. Such a stunning array of vocal colouring and dynamics.
How could this possible not be recorded???!!! She is a thunderstorm here!!!! Much better than in Paris next month for me..
This is the perfect recording for those who think Callas has a small voice. Here her voice is so powerful that cut through the whole orchestra very easily, like a laser beam. And how can a soprano sing both Lady Macbeth and Ophelie in the same concert? Only Callas can!

Barone, I can only say thank you. This concert is at the level of untouchable perfection. Here is the Callas I love. I think she sang impressively beyond words, Rescigno is in a wonderful union with her, they are beautiful AND magnificent. Having this recording with the score, I cannot express how important it becomes, as a pure listening pleasure but also as a huge lesson for every performing artist. Callas is Rosina, Callas is Lady Macbeth. But I will mention L'altra notte again, a performance that fills me with deep admiration and touches so many strings in my soul that I desire to fathom her every thought.
I think the 1961 recording with Maestro Sargent at the piano is even more heartbreaking.

It's actually the first recording of the series of her concerts that you posted that I listened to precisely because it was a performance with piano accompaniment, which is like in an intimate space, isn't it, as if we were alone in the world, with only her voice? But here she is majestic, I believe.

@@BaroneVitellioScarpia1 All great conductors respected her. I think some may even have been a little intimidated by her thorough operatic knowledge and her fantastic, perfectionist dedication. Karajan said: I know you can sing to my tempo without looking at me...
@@ivanatodorovic8073Toscanini never worked with her, but he did not respect her singing at all-“can’t understand a single word she sings”. I’m not making this up!!
I always enjoy this recital. The acoustics are particularly effective at capturing all those haunting (and nuanced) variations of colour in L’altra notte.

I still don't understand why the people who recorded this UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING recital left out all the applause. Is there another source with the applause? I imagine there was pandemonium after every aria because this is ABSOLUTE PERFECTION.

Sonora, ricca di armonici e con acuti piuttosto sicuri e solidi
quell'auditorium aveva fama di cattiva acustica, Maria proietta benissimo la voce e stravince
