The reason why is spelled L'Elixir is because in french when the article ends with a vowel and noun(word) starts with a vowel or H, you glue them using '. In this case Le + Elixir, L'Elixir. Thank you for making this first contact, impressions video.
Erica. I tried Y in Vancouver. I remember it was good but not a lot about it. Can you compare this to Ormand Jayne Montabaco ? I have a decant of Montabaco and will likely get full bottle or 30ml

When people talk about oud being barnyardy, that's the way it's been processed.
They let it ferment in the kettle. One term is royal rot. India is well known for this process.
Think of oud in terms of the different locations in the world that produce grapes/wine.
You have the Bordeaux of France to the Nappa Valley in the US.
Different wines for different regions.
That goes the same for the Agilaria trees. along with Vetiver, Jasmine, Vanilla, Sandalwood, etc.
Agilaria trees are where agarwood/oud is derived from.
The tree can develop a fungus. Oud is the end result of the tree's defense system.
Some ouds from different regions can smell fruity. Some green/clean. Some even chocolatey etc.
You have the Taif Rose, my favorite, that smells lemony. It's wonderful.
What I am trying to say in a very roundabout way is that Oud, for the most part, doesn't smell like a barn.
It's all in the process.
I do hope that what is being used comes from renewable harvest plantation oud,
and not from sources that purposefully infect the trees by the use of chemicals, pounding nails, etc,
into the trees to speed up the process of infection. Those preocess destroy the trees.
What long-term good comes from that.

Waiting to hear your thoughts on the dry down and performance. The opening is only noticed by the wearer for a short amount of time. The dry down is the true fragrance

My current fav is Ralph’s Club Elixir! Very manly and lasts all day! $180 for a small bottle is too much for me. I got the Ralph’s for $98!
Ralph’s club is a banger!! Probably my favorite elixir. It’s so different and has a niche vibe
mine was Gucci Guilty Elixir got it for 93 euros, and I bought Y ELIXIR as well for 87 euros. People just don't know where to find the right store with the cheapest price.
Tried it out and not my cup of tea. My fiancé tried it on his skin and we both agreed it smelled slightly dirty and sharp. We couldn’t get past that.
The thing I don’t like about the rest of the Y line is how insanely sweet it is. I feel like I’m going to get a toothache when I smell it. Does this tone that down? If so it’s something I would probably be interested in as I love soapy fragrances.
Yes it tones it down a lot in my opinion. I always felt that the Y EDP was too sweet even though most people love it.
There is clean ouds, a lot of perfumers use them in fragrances but often they don't list it on the notes they just add a tiny bit of clean oud a lot of the time and normally nobody even knows it's in there

Its worth it if the performance is nuclear. Sauvage Elixir only needs 2 sprays so A 60ml bottle is equivalent to 120ml bottle
Not with the current 2023 batch of sauvage elixir. The current batch is much weaker and needs 5-6 sprays

@@justincamacho8761 no, they are wrong. People sniff their arm 2 cm away 2 seconds after spraying and go noseblind and wonder why they can’t feel the fragrance anymore. A friend of mine has a newer batch and I also have tried newer batches myself and it is every bit as strong as it was back when it was launched in 2021

The trends of Oud and elixir have been done to death. So many designers have done the Oud thing and everyone atm is doing the Elixir thing. It’s nothing new, however as reoccurring as it is I’m always down to test them. I for one was very excited about this new YSL Y. Will have to get my nose on it.
I have 2 YSL’s there ok nothing special IMO but I wouldn’t mind a sample of this

It's so interesting. Sometimes I disagree with you, and sometimes I REALLY agree with you. AND TODAY youre so spot on. The fact that you didnt like suavage elixir is awesome. I agree; the women in my life hate diors elixir but the women in my life LOVE y elixir. Fresh and clean is NEVER out of style 💪
Sauvage Elixir is for a badass who doesn’t care how others feel about the scent. This sounds like it’s for a gentleman.
very agree, i love sauvage elixir and i put 6 sprays in my, and the people love it, first time smelling its hard but once you have the smell in your brain you keep it for ever

Not a big fan of Dior sauvage elixir but I did have to get asad just because the performance hype on Dior sauvage elixir was too high
I feel the Y line seems so out of place with this price tag.
It is much more a youthfull scent.
The only elixir variants that i would consider at that price is A*men elixir if it's in a fancy new bottle or Midnight in Paris Elixir. That one would blow my mind
I definitely would say that this is stronger than ysl myself, ysl le parfum and Versace Eros edp. I mentioned all them because I have them and using them and can tell it in a way where I can figure out how it smells in different weather and temperature conditions.

I love myslf more. elixir is similar to other Y lines if you have the edp or parfum.

I also would say that there is something that smells addictive but not too harsh to be a dating fragrance. I was expecting a fragrance that I could wear during summer on work.
I mean think about it, why the heck would they release it in the beginning of the year before the summer with it’s heats started to begin ?
IMO they wanted to make a difference with the name of elixir. They wanted to make a fresh and bright elixir that is not that dark like diors or others. I feel like they wanted to make a fresh elixir for the summer since there aren’t so many ones that have done that.

ropion is one of the best.. male ysl fragrances are always mass appealing but tend not to have good performance, and yeah.. the prices are outrageous. before covid this would have been in the 60-70 dollar range.
Very well described new Y flanker. I find YSL Y L'Elixir verry seductive ! One of the best Elixir colognes I have ever tried. And, no, Dior Sauvage Elixir is not one of them !

I’ve had this for a month now, It’s okay all these designers are smelling similar.
I mean, dior elixir for the price is accepted because it is a true god mode fragrance that only needs 2 sprays. This is barely stronger than the edp lol even gucci elixir lasts atleast 8-10hours with very good sillage. I just can't justify buying this.
I tried YSL Y edp and I didn't like it, too generic too boring and a bit too sweet for my taste. I did get compliments from it but not my cup of tea at all and I was like what the hell do people like about this scent. This one I kinda wanna try it but I hope it's not gonna be overhyped like the YSL Y Edp

hello ERica ! The real oud which is very expensive is scanky, I guess that this has no oud thus i could not understand the price point. Otherwise, for the same price i can find an Amouage tester bottle which smells way way better and more unique. Taste is subjective thus the variety of fragrances on the market

Sauvage elixir destroys this in terms of longevity silage and projection compared to this ! I like this y elixir though will be getting once at discounters for around $100

I'm looking forward to smelling this. Too expensive for my taste. I might get a decant. I am also not a big fan of Sauvage Elixir, overrated fragrance, imo It smells too much like Drakkar Noir, and I wore that to death.

I'm happy about oud being implemented more into designer fragrances. But i'm Very worried about the supply of oud. We are already on the edge of a true Oud collapse. I recommend anyone to watch a doc on the subject of collecting the oud ingredients. Wild oud is almost extinct. And farmed oud is getting dangerously close to extinction in the near future.

Had Dior came up with elixer after these guys everyone would've ranted nonstop... but no one has the balls to say that all these designers are simply copying or at least following the lead of Dior bringing more ELIXERS. I smelled all other elixers except for this one and NON came even close to Dior Sauave Elixers's niche quality. I think you just have it personal with Dior LOL.

The most expensive fragrances are the ones you don’t wear. Better to have high end fragrances that you love wearing, than shelves full of worthless crap. The only problem with this price range for designers is, that you can buy genuine Niche fragrances at discounters, for this kind of price. However, if you really like it, and enjoy wearing it, go for it. I never liked the Y line, and gave the edp away. I do like Eau Fraiche.

This fragrance is being overhyped. Take bleu de chanel as a base and layer valentino born in roma intense on top and u literally get the EXACT same smell
