  • Plenty of noise in this video as we see a 6-ship F-18 Super Hornet launch from RAF Lakenheath. These visiting F-18s are from the USS Harry Truman which at then time of filming was positioned up in the north sea. 4 F-18s flew the "Mach Loop" with a pair of guide F-15Es and the other two visited a target range up in Scotland, again with a pair of based F-15Es.

    Excellent work those navy pilots must enjoy having thousands of feet of concrete to play with. Interesting watching those control surfaces flapping around on landing.

    Damn, do I miss that place. Weapons systems spec. with the 494th FS. Worked out of the swamp on F-111F's in the late '80's and early '90's. Was a GREAT jet to load! They think they know what noise is, with the Eagles. No, my friend, the F-111's two TF-30's? THAT was ear-splitting, brain-piercing NOISE!!!

      F-14 engines here, worked at Grumman, TF-30. You could 'feel' the sound.

    How to tell the difference between the Hornet variants and a growler by just looking at it? .without going through their specs..i mean they all look the same.

    • @CBGSpotter

      Super from non super is easily done, look at the engine air intakes, that gives it away :D

    • @Spacegoat92
      @Spacegoat92 Před 4 lety +2

      An E-18 Growler won't have wing tip missiles, instead it has detection pods on the wingtips. It also won't have an M61 gun. It will carry jamming pods under the wings as well and they will always be a 2 seat aircraft, whereas the F-18 can be either.

    • @Spacegoat92

      @@shaundavidssd They still have missile racks under the wings as they carry HARM and AMRAAM misslies.
