This feud could've been better but it didn't matter to me. Atleast we got it. We can't really say the same for Edge and Christian. As you all know, Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy were apart of one of the greatest tag teams in WWE history. I will say though that they were the most popular from their timeperiod. Everyone loved Team Extreme. They won Tag Team Gold on six occasions from 1999 all the way to 2007. In this video, I cover Matt and Jeff Hardy's Feud from 2009. Yeah this feud could've been better but despite that, I appreciate it. Why? Well atleast we got to see them face off at WrestleMania. With that said, I personally thought Matt Hardy was gonna become a star afterwards. What did you think of this feud? Also, I'd like to wish a happy Easter to those that celebrate the holiday!
WrestlingsPremier Same to you and it does make sense that you think that Matt Hardy would’ve been a star afterwards I mean it was after all Matt Hardy who got put over Jeff Hardy when they did face each other at WrestleMania and he did win pretty much all of the gold that existed in that time period including heading in and walking out of one WrestleMania against Rey Mysterio with the Cruiserweight Championship by his side even if his sidekick, Shannon Moore, helped him to retain this particular championship! This was going on while Jeff Hardy was having his issues which eventually led to his release I believe at one point!

This feud was my childhood. I remember crying hearing about his house being burned.
Exactly I was 5 in early '09 so not knowing about kayfabe I assumed him and Matt really were brothers who hated each other.

This feud tore me apart as a kid because I loved the Hardy’s, and Matt was always my favorite. It broke my heart to see him do all the dastardly things to his brother.
When you look back at their feud in 2009, you can't help but feel for Matt being overshadowed by his brother. Smh

This feud in 09 was enjoyable. Jeff was very popular, and he had recently lost his WWE Championship. You had to feel bad for Jeff when the story began.
If I'm not wrong, it was initially supposed to be Jeff Hardy - Christian feud and the whole Pyro thing was supposed to be for Christian's return to WWE.
If only it wasn't leaked. We might've seen a Fatal 4 Way TLC Match between E&C and the Hardyz for the WWE Title at WrestleMania. Such a shame.

Jason Lee Agreed at that point, Matt hardy began to gain weight and his new attire didn’t suit him. It would have been better to take time off and return unexpectedly. Possibly returning and wanting a spot for the championship in a fatal four way against Christian edge and Jeff
I love this fued i wish he got a second run with the wwe title. Hopefully in the coming years he will get a second reign.
I remember this feud so, so well.
I honestly felt like this brotherly feud could have benefited Matt in the long run.
But, excluding the feud with Edge & as TNA Heavyweight Champion & as ECW Champion & as "Broken" Matt Hardy, Matthew Moore Hardy was never given the chance to break out on his own, especially in WWE.
Imagine if Jeff didn’t lose the title at the rumble and he got betrayed later on and they got to main event wrestle mania against Matt for the wwe championship that would be perfect

That match at WM is very underrated! With all honesty though i would have preferred if that spot did go to Christian. Then have Matt win the MITB and turn on Jeff later

To clarify, Matt Hardy moved to SmackDown the week after the Rumble.
At the start of that week's ECW, Theodore Long, the brand's GM at the time, announced that Matt requested a trade to the blue brand.
The 2000s version of the hart brothers feud
Loved them as a team as their rise from enhancement talent but you can go so far. Definitely enjoyed their feud, especially the end of the feud. Matt says I Quit when Jeff was going to jump from the ladder, jumps anyway.
But the writing and creative back then top notch.

Feud felt really forced and how Matt flipped a switch to be this villain didn't work for me. And how they barely talk about this thing speaks volumes about it. His better heel run was 2003 and TNA/Big Money Matt.
I loved Matt Hardy V1. He was so fun to watch and I personally think he deserved to become a bigger star during that time.

The fact that they never talk about it says enough. I was old enough back then to be a smart mark and know the going on backstage wise because of the dirt sheets and this feud literally consisted of Matt kicking Jeff’s ass because Jeff kept having restraint against fighting his brother. Didn’t he lose to him twice including mania? Then the I quit match and after that they stopped feuding with each other and Matt started wearing those disgusting purple tights haha. They ended up reuniting after like a few months. Seemed forced and failed.
This feud was forced af. The only thing good that came out of it was the leg drop spot from wrestlemania, which btw I still am curious how they worked that. Like no way that’s good on the spine lol.

Now the roles are reversed. Jeff outside of WWE and now Matt is outside of WWE. Matt should've been a main eventer after his mania 25 win. I personally enjoyed the extreme rules bout.

Also the Wrestler who had the Burning Hammer Finisher move banned in WWE for the longest time. I think he could have done a lot more than what he had, hopefully you check him out.

It's no secret Matt Hardy was overshadow by his brother Jeff.
At the 2009 Royal Rumble when Matt came out I for some reason just had a very funny feeling that I knew he was gonna turn heel I guess I could just see it in his eyes I don't know how I knew this was gonna happen it was just such a funny feeling

As a personal opinion I don't see how this WrestleMania can be considered "underwhelming" had some great matches on that card bro.
Rey Mysterio came out as the joker and beat JBL within seconds
Undertaker and Shawn Michaels had another famous WrestleMania match.
We got to see death defying stunts from Jeff Hardy and an immaculate will to survive from Matt.
John Cena lifted up the Big show and edge at the same time performing an attitude adjustment to both of them to capture the world heavyweight championship.
And that's just to name a few,
I recommend everybody goes back and watches WrestleMania 25 it was amazing 💯👏🏾 still this is my opinion. Great video!!!

One they did this it was the right call. For one Jeff was always super over with the crowd even before his main event run and title run. Plus if you think about it Matt is very well fit for a heel you first seen it during his Version 1 Gimmick. And Jeff is better as a baby face.

2009 was a odd year it kind of felt like a pg 2002. Like Jeff was wwe champion at the start of the year and sheamus at the end. There was also so many ppvs half of them were ones from last year and the second half was all new ppvs. It just seems so odd to me.
