We took down our Christmas decorations a few days ago. I was ready. I must say that as much as I love Christmas, it’s nice to have a clean slate! 🎉 Something about a fresh start and new beginnings!! Happy New Year!! ❤
Usually take it down on the 26th and do a major house clean but we did all the closets 1 December. Got rid a bunch of stuff and still have 20 totes of Christmas. Don’t put back even the regular decor all of January and put up Valentines 1 February. Passing on St Patrick’s because Easter is so early
Karen, you look like you are getting a bit better now after your sickness. I am glad it isn’t lingering on too long. It’s great you are well enough to un-decorate and show us all the sentimental decorations, including your daughter’s felted ones, which I thought were so cute. I’ll not be taking down the small amount of decorations I put up until epiphany because that is what my mum always did and so I try to follow that tradition. However, I am looking forward to deep cleaning the house after starting my usual new year’s declutter. Unfortunately, this year it will be slow and steady, as I have been diagnosed with long covid. I have had a persistent cough that will not go since September and recently had a third ear infection. The long Covid has also worsened the symptoms of the CFS that I already suffer from, which I was keeping on top of before I got Covid at the end of August last year. Anyway, I wanted to add that I love the cardigan you are wearing in this video.
Enjoyed the video. You have done a great job decluttering. You were able to put all your things away perfectly. I only put up a tree and put on a tablecloth. So, it was easy clean up. LOL i hope and pray you and your family all get healthy. And, have a fantastic 2024!
My daughter keeps a medium size artificial Christmas tree up all year and decorates it for different occasions and seasons. She also decorates it for birthdays. She has a bigger house so it’s not in the way. It’s so pretty and happy all year
Everything is down and put away. 😊 I am taking things down more quickly than the year before now and have been doing so for the past couple of years. This year it actually stayed up till Jan 2. 😂 I am finding I like the empty clean spaces more and more. Great video today, enjoyed seeing Robin! Hope you are feeling better. Be blessed this week! ❤❤❤
I didn't put up any christmas decorations. I like them, but I am not a xmas person. I love that woozi i being more interactive since he's lost some weight. I love to hear he is playing with Leo! My cat Henry follows me around the house too. Cats are so cute!
We took our tree/decorations down early too--I ALWAYS wait until after Epiphany, but this year parts of our family were going to be traveling for the next two weekends so down they came. It usually makes me really sad to have everything come down, but everyone was in a really good mood this year and the blank spaces aren't making me so sad. Looking forward to your decorating video--maybe I'll decorate along. I don't do very much, but it's nice to have a little touch in the house. The new ornaments are beautiful! Good job with passing a few things along--I had a few go when things went up for the season which actually surprised me as I thought I was down to just what I wanted to keep.
My youngest son and his wife were sick all Christmas as well. and so we’re his three kids. so my Christmas tree is staying up till this Sunday so they can open their gifts under my tree.
Helloo Karen,so good to see you feeling better. You’ve got some beautiful tree decorations, nice to go through and appreciate them isn’t it. I take our decorations down 2nd of January, I like to have the tree lit up still on my birthday. Fabulous to see you as always and as always much love and light to you.🥰🥰🥰
@@ThisMainerMom Good Idea. I didn't even think of that. I was just like.. well great. lol. And at least it was on the same pice of drywall that we need to patch from putting two sinks in our bathroom.
I got my artificial tree down yesterday. We always had a 20' real tree when the boys were home. But now that they aren't living here I've gone to a 10' fake one I can handle by myself. I use extension cord rollers for my lights. Real tree always came out new years day. The village (massive) an my Nativities are still up. Maybe this weekend I'll get the mangers down. Glad your feeling better. I had it the week before Christmas. Still hacking.
Wow I learned a lot from your video, about the watering of the tree Because I have not had to water it in a couple days 😮 and also the towel under the stand. Thank you so much ❤I take my stuff down on the 6 th and great idea I will do all the daily stuff first. So helpful ty 😊
It took me all of January to get everything down stairs from Christmas our oldest and his family are moving over 800 miles away so I wasn't doing well about it
Also< I just took my tree down as well. However, we had it up with the lights this year but we didn't decorate. We were out of town from the 16-the 25 so I just didn't feel like decorating it for like two weeks.
Hey Karen! I use Ziploc bags too to store lights and other Christmas items!! Ziploc bags are your friend 😬 Thanks for the motivation as I am probably taking Christmas down today it over the next 3 days? We are new wall to walk carpet in dining vroom and library today so house is disaster as we need to move everything out of those rooms 🙀
I took everything down today. We also dealt with colds that just lingered and honestly kicked our butts. Everyone is started to get better so hoping to get things done that have been neglected. Thanks as always for the encouragement and motivation!
And you should donate the barbie house to a food bank. Someone may love it and eat it as well for a special treat with their kiddos. Something they may not get to do due to affordabiltiy.
I keep tree ( artificial) and nativity up ( 12 days of Christmas) the 6 th of January ( 3 kings) gifts in stocking . I also set up villages adding different themes. Wishing you, Robin and family a Happy New Year 2024🎉 Blessings
No, I'm not in a good place mentally, so I've not un decorated yet, I did manage to get out of bed, unload the dishwasher, and reload it, and that's it. Please send prayers, good vibes, and love my way.
Your videos always makes me happy. I look forward to them. Thanks for making them for us. ❤ I took down Christmas decorations new years eve. It was so nice. These days we have a gig Winterslow with lots and lots of snow. When I went outside I was blown over. This makes it wonderful to be inside and relax and enjoy. ❤
I thought I'd get to Christmas decor today...at least some of it, but, no, other things came up, including returns and an unexpected vet visit. I usually keep the main tree up until January 6th. But, we went artificial quite a while ago. We live in Georgia, and the trees drying out scared me. Now, a candle or plug in fills the air with the scent of a fresh tree.
I only decorated with 1 bin of items for Christmas (a tabletop tree, some small ornaments to go with it, and Christmas themed stuffed animals) and I don't decorate for any other holiday or season. I un-decorated on the 27th to remove that extra clutter before visitors came over... the stuffed animals were taking up a chair that we needed. It was super easy to put away in just a single bin! ☃
I forgot to mention that the reason I didn't put up the big tree was because my daughter brought her bunny here for the holidays and he would've chewed the wires on the pre-lit tree. 🎄🐇
I took down Christmas decor area by area the week after Christmas. Outside lights and decor on the 27th. Upstairs and downstairs decor the 29th. Upstairs and downstairs trees on the 30th. So nice to have everything reset by the new year.
Happy New Year! I so enjoyed seeing you special ornaments. It is one of the things I love most about pulling out the Christmas box reminiscing where and when those special ornaments came into our family. I wait until after 3 Kings Day {Jan 6) to take down my Christmas decor. I have removed the holiday bedding but everything else is still here for us to enjoy a few more days.
I’m still waiting to do Christmas with my daughters family. But, I didn’t decorate for Christmas because MY KITTIES ARE WAY TOO NAUGHTY . They love to knock things over and pull things down.

@@ThisMainerMom Thank you so much Karen. 🤗🙏
I'll take down Christmas as soon as i receive my pink twinkle lights in the mail for the stairway for Valentine's Day 😍
Oh what a GREAT idea!!
@@ThisMainerMom and I got little pink trees from DT for each step and I put a remote control candle on each step 💖

You are right! Cats ARE cute!! I'm glad you don't bother with the christmas decor if it doesn't make you happy!! 😊
You should try and laminate your grandkids handprintsto preserve them. Or put into clear Christmas ornaments
Great idea! 😍
Glad you are feeling better. I enjoyed the video. Love you.
Love you too!! 💖

I forgot to thank you for the chocolate too! I was eaten so fast I forgot about it! I hope your birthday was a happy one sweet friend!! 💞
Karen, I had a command strip do that same thing in my bathroom. I feel you. I was like... Ummmm aren't you supposed to "save the walls"... yeah.
Right?! Someone here said to use a blow dryer on it next time and it won't do that! 😍

Not sure if u know but burning pine is toxic to breath in so be careful using that for burning! Happy holidays!

My Christmas decor will go down before Saturday. I'm then decorating my tree for Mardi Gras!
Oh fun!! I forget about Mardi Gras!! 🎊
Understandable! We lived in New Orleans for three years, it's definitely unique to the area. It's weeks of parties, parades and King Cake.
So glad you all are feeling better!! Love the blankets!!😉♥️

Hi Karen!
Hi!! ❤️
Your un-decorating and decluttering journey is motivating me to do the same! We sent you an email, please take a look.
Oh good! I'll look! 😃
I’m still waiting to do Christmas with my daughters family. But, I didn’t decorate for Christmas because MY KITTIES ARE WAY TOO NAUGHTY . They love to knock things over and pull things down.
OOPS! Kitties are impossible to train!! Stubborn things! Good things they're cute!! 🤣
Hey Buddy, you've been a tad busy/sick, but I wonder what's happening in your bathroom reno?
Nothing! 😟 Hopefully you will see our progress soon!! 🤪
Where did she order the blankets from?
Walmart 😃
Yeah for let us see a husband cleaning. 🙌
WOOHOO!! 🎊
