  • WOW, Italy is GORGEOUS! We spent the first day of our two week Italy trip in the Dolomites at three of the most beautiful spots we have ever laid on our eyes on: Lago di Braies, Tre Cime di Lavaredo, & Lago di Sorapis. From a beautiful sunrise, snacks at a refugio, beating crowds, 360 degree views, and even a hiking mishap, this was one of the most memorable days of our lives and the best way to kick off our trip!

    A reason why the Pragser Lake (Lago di Braies) is so popular right now is because an Italian TV series is filmed there. Since it is broadcasted even in other countries (Austria and Germany for sure) it has been seeing a raise in popularity as a tourist venue. Easy to understand why it was chosen 😉 breathtakingly beautiful.

    After 4 years around Dolomites, I would say that it was completely madness to do those 3 in one day. If you really want to enjoy and to taste every km you do around Tre Cime or Sorapis, guys you need a separate day for each one. You missed so much, like Lago di Misurina or Croda dei Toni or Cima Undici, lot of smaller lakes or waterfalls, very beautiful view points, especially if you go back from Sorapis to Passo Tre Crocci. You have basically choose to do 2 National Parks in one day, which is insane. Not sure where have you slept, but Cortina and Monte Cristallo are super beautiful it self. Pictures are awesome, really great work but i think that you should go back one more time to Dolomites and do it slower.

    Such great videos! Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Quick question, when you said you went out early in the Dolomites and also Venice, how early is early? My wife is also sensitive to gluten. We noticed several times in the video you mentioned that European wheat did not bother Kathryn. Did you have to take enzymes in order to eat the bread and pasta in Italy or were you able to eat without problems?

    • @AdventuresofAplusK
      @AdventuresofAplusK  Před rokem

      Hey Wesley! Our biggest tip for popular places is get there at or right after sunset. We started exploring Venice for the day at sunrise and had St. Mark's Square almost to ourselves for over an hour. Same with the Dolomites. Get out there as early as you can.
      Kathryn did take enzymes for most of the trip. They use a different type of wheat over there that didn't bother her as much.

      Ooof that’s a tough question!!! I think the charming towns in the Dolomites gives it a slight edge for us, but they are both absolutely stunning! And yup, we had an automatic rental car! We recommend not getting the cheapest car because ours didn’t fit all of our luggage in the trunk and it barely could get up the mountain lol! 🙈

    What is the name of the music at 13:06? I totally know what it's like to be without water in Italy. In my first trip (out of 12 trips), I passed out (to my embarrassment) at the Original Al Freddo's in Rome (original owner invented Fettucini Al Freddo) because I had not drank enough water during the long day of walking all over Rome. So, I rushed to get dress for dinner, didn't drink water, and just went to the restaurant. When I got there all I kept telling my friends was, "water, water, water....." then I passed out! I was so embarrassed, but after that I drank a ton of water throughout the days I was there. Love your shots of the lake - GORGEOUS (like everything in Italy)! Thanks.

Did you get a chance to go to it when you were in Florence?Yep, I passed out and thank God one of my friends was a nurse so she was able to bring me back. The waiters were in a panic and I reassure them that it had nothing to do with the restaurant, especially because we hadn't even begun eating. But boy, did I drink A LOT of water when I came to! We have a 4 day guide on our site that includes those spots + a couple others (we only had 2 days) if you need help getting started!
