I got the shiny Ponyta from the quest only to turn around an hour later and got a genuine one.
Exact same thing happened to me, I had 40 hours in the game when I finally got around to that shiny Ponyta quest, and like 45 minutes later I find my first ever non-scripted shiny. Is that just a common occurrence?-

My 6 SW/SH masuda method shinies took way more pain and dedication than all of my Legends Arceus shinies (which is a lot) combined. But I feel this shiny method, especially with the Daybreak update, is a welcomed method, I love it.
its great, completing the pokedex entry doubles the chance for that mon, perfecting it doubles again, then shiny charm increases it further.
then outbreaks massively buff the rate further, maximum chance is just like 1/128.
the real trick is getting shiny alphas.
Fun fact: There is a VERY small chance for you to catch an Alpha Pokemon without battling it, I found that out by catching the Alpha Bibarel like that. So you CAN do it, it's just a REALLY small chance.

unless you do it right, then it's more like 30-50% depending on the base pokemon's catch rate. the amount of alpha ive caught in one ball is pretty dang high for 'very small'
throw a berry behind them, they will turn around to eat it. (razz berry if you have one as it buffs catch rate)
while eating, they have a higher catch rate, and they will be turned around for a back strike.
use a heavy ball (or better versions of it later).

Started playing today, i haven't even crossed the river yet in the first wild lands, I am a 2 star, I have a lvl 29 gravler that I got from the red rocks moving and my highest lvl besides him is 14, I found a shinny alpha Rapidash that I tried to catch and battle(my party fainting super fast and I run with one left) and I am removing this game alot

jon wandering around looking for quests or places to turn in quests is so painful.
just look at your map to see new quests markers, and track your quests you want to turn in, it's literally all right there.

I found a shiny electabuzz it’s my first shiny ever it was right after the electrode fight I went up into the snow some and found it I was so pumpped
Well that was short lived I evolved it to electrvire and it isn’t shiny now

Funny thing on my playthrou i got so overpower before going to kleavor. i have all the alpha on that area and 5 stars rank. Its quite underwelming for me. The ocd inside me is saying "get all the side quest, all the alphas and pokedex quest".

1:30:12 John. Buddy. Friend. I feel rather attacked right now. My first shiny in this game that wasn't the basically gift Ponyta was a FREAKING PARASECT. Since the random Goldeen i found in SILVER, it was the first shiny i've gotten that wasn't a gift, scripted or bred for.

I found a shiny about two hours into the game, it was shiny parasect at level 30 and I was at level 15 with just poke balls… you can guess what happened
I bet it was the alpha Parasect you found. You missed a rare chance. You can chuck spoiled apricots and mud balls at it to stun it for a few seconds then get behind it to throw a PokeBall or Heavy Ball if you have one.
In a situation like that: immediatly save, the shiny will be there if you restart the game.
I had level 12 mons and caught a level 40 alpha rapidash so I hope you're going to say you caught it, and save before a shiny - then if you fail you can come back
My first shiny in this game was the Paras, after that I just went and got the static shiny Ponyta, and just today I found a shiny Starly (never had this many shiny Pokémon in one playthrough)

I like having the "guaranteed" shiny in this game because I think it's one of the coolest ones. But I also have 2 others - one random and one from an outbreak. I value all of them the same, but that's because I personally like the legit one's look. TBH if the guaranteed one looked as dumb as the others ones I got, I probably wouldn't like it as much. lol!

This is so frustrating to watch. Reading text is the easiest thing you can do to figure out what you need to do, and yet you breeze through 95% of conversations. The Buizel thing was painful to watch. Also, read what is on the screen. When you get 10 points on a Pokédex entry, it says “Complete” and a Pokéball appears beside its name on the list. This is basic stuff.
Please just slow down and pay attention to what you’re doing.
Pokemen can you pls give Nintendo switch we do not have Christmas in our state so can you give a Nintendo switch and I am not lieing
