How Skyrim's 5 Cities Always Should've Been! (LOREGASM) - Skyrim Mods: The Great Cities - LE/SE/PS4
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 7. 07. 2024
- Hiiii yall! Ready to check out these seriously amazing city overhaul mods?! I can't believe I've never once tried these Great City mods out before, and now I'm hooked. Mods that overhaul cities or places in Skyrim are my favourite :D now the problem is, I can't choose between all the overhauls... time to find some patches đ
I want to know what you guys think, especially of the Winterhold overhaul! Because that one keeps living rent free on my head. Such a gorgeous city now, words can't really describe how I feel about it. It's just so grandiose, and feels like a different game altogether. Wish there was more to do, in addition to the College quests..!
Corrections to video: at 4.15 I say The Great City of Winterhold version 4.2, but it's actually 4.0.2! And at 10:30 I say I "tlc'd" my way on the balcony, but of course, I tcl'd instead. (Toggled collusion via console to noclip on it.) đ Sorry!

Nice video! Thanks for the showcase!
Ahh so glad to hear! đ thanks for the epic mods! đ
Your art is impressive.
Great work are you planing on more Cities like whiterun, windhelm, riften and Markarth?
The recent update to the Great Cities Winterhold looks super impressive! Awesome video once again
It is insane, such a good mod! And thank you!! đ
@Heavy Burns : Seeing you support another channel like this earned you another subscriber. This community oriented ideal is what I've always loved most about this modding community from way back in the Oblivion days. â€đđđ
Oh wow Heavy Burns I love your videos as well. Top tier video editing and amazing showcases! Beautiful to see you supporting other - smaller channels!đ
Hey nice to see you around here
For those who want to know, there is a mod that merges Cities of the North, JK Skyrim and The Great Cities, the mod is called The Great Cities of JK's North.
Thatâs so helpful! Im going to go find it
Thanks man
Is this on Xbox?
@@ElantraFukkenGang yes it is
Ps 4?
Archinatic's smaller towns and villages are also worth taking a look at. They get rid of the generic farmhouses, giving the places unique architecture instead.
Interesting! I'll definitely get them soon.
Your mod reviews just have a certain something that other's don't. They're really calming and atmospheric.
At this age of fast-paced tiktoks and reels and whatnot, I would like to be one making slower, more relaxed content, so I thank you - so much! đđ
Well, She's a Bard.. charming us with Her sweet voice!
Definitely. She sounds super cute :)
I liked the inclusion of the winterhold lore, if you started making lore videos Iâd be here for it.
Oh, good! :D I was wondering if that was too much lore, you're the first one giving feedback on that. Interesting!
@@BardsCollegeGraduate It definetly wasn't too much! It was everything you needed to know to understand why the mod is better
@@darnok6407 ah good to hear!
this channel is pure gold
Damn, thanks! I'm trying! đ đ
I don't deliberately avoid Falkreath, but it's so far out of the way in the corner of the map, and there is so much to do in the more accessible parts of the map that somehow my visits to Falkreath always end up being very few and very far between.
It's like the dragonborn's vacation home, you only go there to fish and bask in the sun
Falkreaths litty
The mods that expand/improve the cities and towns in a lore friendly way are my favorite. Skyrim should be more populated than it is. Vanilla game seems to me like there are 10 bandits for every 1 citizen. Even if you explained that many of the people are off fighting in the civil war there should be lots of vacant homes of soldiers.
Exactly, even if so there would be more children!
Your videos have made me want to play Skyrim again. Thanks for the descriptions of the mods. And I enjoyed listening to your stories. I can't wait to start exploring again.
I feel you add a lot of charm to the community, something about your accent and the ways you approach the details.
This is the sweetest comment everđ thank you, so much! Do go play Skyrim, it's good for you every once in a while đ
Solitudes arch always bothered me Iâm so glad it was fixed
I totally agree with you on Morthal. This city gives so much serenity.
It's such a curious place, very underrated too! :D
your videos are very calming
Love the video editing and also yes to the smaller settlements
hey, thanks Austin :)
Great video! Loved the editing. Glad to see the showcase of overhaul. Makes me want to consider using it on a future play through.
Hey, thanks Brandi! I'd definitely recommend that :)
Great overview! I'm really enjoying your uploads and I was already thinking, before you mentioned it at the end, that a lot of work went into this. Good stuff.
Ahh cheers! Glad to hear you noticed! đ
Very nice video ! I love the hard work on capturing all of these visuals. Also, I really appreciate the calming and chill vibe of the video, the musics are good and your tone and pace really pleasant to listen to. It was a really good moment watching your video 'even if I'm using these mods for a long time aha), your graphics are beautiful and it was just the right amount of cozyness to feel at home in the game again. Thank you !
Thank you so much, made me so happy :D
Still can't believe you're uploading more frequently again, so glad! :D
Looks awesome, even the older reworks like JK's always helped to convey a more lively atmosphere and bring in some fresh air to locations we have grown too familiar with.
Will give this a shot aswell, thank you!
Funny, i just watched Febrith's Video of that Winterhold Mod...and now i get an even bigger package presented, nice one!
Well done. :)
Maybe that's a signđ and thanks!
Now... I want to play Skyrim. For the twentieth time, let's goooo
Riften is my favourite city but the Falkreath Hold is by far my favourite one to wander in, alas for my frames!!
After all these years I still keep finding skyrim content creators I love
Your channel is a delight
Skyrim just won't die xD thank you!!
Wonderful and relaxing video. Even if I have already explored most of these mods in my previous playthrough, the video still was interesting to watch. Yes, please do review the rest of this mod author's village mods!
I'm so grateful! đ Good to hear, these mods aren't exactly new, so I was thinking if it there is any value on making this video in the end đ
This is the first of your videos I've watched, so I can't compare to your other work, but I think the editing is very good. Nothing jarring, smooth movement and transitions, I am a big fan of comparison wipes for mods like these, and whatever lighting/ENB/weather setup looks great!
What an overwhelming compliment, thank you so much! I've been trying to find my own editing style, and trying to make them a little bit more exciting visually, but relaxing at the same time :) welcome to the channel! đđ
Great video! Looking forward to more Skyrim mods reviews :)
Great editing and clips. Really pleasant to watch.
Cheers! đ
It's so hard choosing between this mod and cities of the north. They're both so great
Actually, I was still watching, and in particular because of the editing. đ
Stay the path that makes you happiest, and you naturally spread the most joy around you.
đđ
Loved this. Keep up the good reviews
One of the best skyrim mods channels. Thank you for your videos.
đ i appreciate that, thank you! đ
ive been using these mods for years and i thought they were the go to mods for city overhauls, i'm pretty surprised. that said, your video is very pleasing to listen to and your editing is on point, you earned my sub
For sure, or I mean I've been a JK's user always, but these are awesome. And thank you so much, welcome!
Loved your style! Keep up the good work!
So kind - thank you!
the editing was really good.
Combining "The Great Cities" series with the "Cities of the North" series makes Morthal and Dawnstar absolutely immaculate.
And then for my money, Cities of the North Falkreath is the best Falkreath overhaul hands down.
The Great City of Winterhold is absolutely the best overhaul of that city.
But where The Great Cities / Towns series really excels are Old Hroldan, Karthwasten, Shor's Stone, Ivarstead and Kynesgrove. Those smaller settlements are made so utterly unique and charming with "The Great Towns" mods.
And then in my personal game, Redbag's Solitude and the Capital series for Whiterun and Windhelm are my favorites right now, but there are a so many other overhauls for those 3 cities so I am not definite on them quite yet.
Poor Riften, I fear there's nothing I consider "definitive" or "essential" for that city.
Markarth used to have nothing but now I am very excited to try out "Ultimate Markarth!"
great vid, the quality convinced me instantly to sub!
Welcome aboard!! đ
Great work on the editing! I love the zoomed in shots, shown for example at 2:18 and 9:31 đđ
Ah yes, thank you, so happy someone notices those shots especially!! Inspiration for those came from my photography hobby đ·
I use a hodgepodge of city mods. Great cities , CotN, Winterhold Restored, Capital Whiterun and Capital Windhelm, a few Arthmor Cities, Enhanced Solitude , and many smaller ones.
It was a lot of work to put together and patch, but it looks and works great now.
Well itâs insane how impressive this mod is!! Like, damn!! đ€©đ
These mods just completed the main part of my list thank you Skyrim has never looked more beautiful on Xbox. I'm using these with paulys landscape and shadow land weather pack with variety of trees mod looks next gen lol
Thanks! I've just downloaded it! I would like to see more citi s...once I saw a river wood sooo beautiful
Thank you for another amazing video and superb presentation, frankly I dont know what can be done better. Im so glad I found your Channel â€
Think I will download everything In the video and check them out next time I start a fresh new playthrough.
Good luck with your channel little one! Loving the content! Spent the last 4 days dling a 110 gig mod list... Getting ready to see it in a whole new way myself. Really gives you some ideas or dreams of ESVI..
Wheeeew 110 gig at one sitting xD good luck! And thanks!
fantastic showcase! I've never tried these city overhaul mods before, but this has sold me on them! btw, for another video, I recommend checking out Redbags Solitude, Clefj's Morthal, Clefj's Winterhold and capital windhelm expansion (unless you have already)
Thanks, that's great! I've been looking at Redbag's Solitude for some time now, maybe it's time to install that one... :) but the others are completely new to me, so thanks for the suggestions!
Thanks for making this amazing video Bard Graduate! I like modding Skyrim but keeping things close to vanilla and lore friendly as possible. This fit's my needs perfectly. Other ones are beautiful but they go to far for my liking.
My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it! Keeping things close to the vanilla is perfectly okay - I don't think I myself steer too much from the original, but testing out these extravagant, amazing mods is always fun! And thanks for following my page on Instagram Arty! đ
Archinatic should do a Greater Ruins mod too, making ruins 4 times larger and tombs three times bigger, and caves all unique and twice as big. Great editing. Great Video !
Great video!đ I didn't get bored in no moment as I used to when I watch this type of video lolđ
woooow that's amazing! đ
Very nice video, keep it up, make the Bard's College proud !
I'll do my best! :D thank you!
The attention you put in these videos, you should at least have 500k subscribers. Keep up the good work.
Haha, so happy to hear you think that. Thanks!
So difficult to decide between The Great Cities Winterhold and the Cities of the North Winterhold.
On one hand I love being able to explore the half-abandoned ruins of Winterhold with the Great Cities version and all round it feels a lot more appropriate, but I adore the architectural style of the buildings in the Cities of the North version.
My favorite is Winterhold Restored. To me it makes sense that people moved back and rebuilt the city.
great mod showcase...would love to see your thoughts on the other Great City/Town mods too.
Thanks! Will do! đ€ đȘ
Another great video, and editing is great. Looking forward to see you grow as a Skyrim CZcamsr. Wish you the best!
Thank you for your support, it means so much to me.
Epic vid love the way do present the mods keep on the good work
I appreaciate that, thanks!!
Great voice. Great delivery. Great editing. GREAT JOB! Keep up the good work. Subbed.
wow, thank you kindly! đđ
Kiitos! Great video and editing! đ
đ„șđ
Great to see you're back at it ! :) Your vids feel almost asmr-ish to me, your voice and pronunciation is soothing lol.
It's good to be back! And that's a double win (especially when I'm quite self-conscious on the pronunciation and accent xD) so thanks!! (â'âĄ'â)
this winterhold city looks awesome, but IDK if it is lore driendly. while we all know the cities in skyrim are somehow merelly illustrative, scaled down for compatibilities with computer limitations of 2011, the fact is, the true city of winterhold sank into the sea, and what was left was the city arround the real city, just the houses outside the real thing. the city itself probbably used to surround the college, like the school was in the center, that bridges passing above the houses and market district, then it all collapsed except the college for unknown dark reasons.
It was rebuilt.
For Solitude, my overhaul of choice has always been Enhanced Solitude. Huge, sprawling, makes it feel like a major fantasy metropolis, and packed with characters and sites of interest. Only thing I now get annoyed by is the vanilla children alongside my mainstay TKAA but that's on me to figure out how to mod new children facegen onto them.
Interesting, I must check that mod out!
I use enhanced solitude paired with the docks upgrade featured here, it just feels so much more like a capital city
Love how organized your video and the decription is, I'm not playing Skyrim anymore but I can't wait to start again as soon as I graduate. It's so refreshing to see a person putting out Mod introduction even 10 after release. Plus I haven't played since 2017, there's so much new stuff to discover, it feels like Christmas as a child lol.
Which ENB are you using? The lighting and textures look just stunningly beautiful!
Thank you! I'm using Rudy's ENB with Cathedral. Good luck on finishing your degree and welcome to the channel!
Great content as alwaysđđ»Saved this to my playlist so I can come back to the list as Iâm searching for them in-gameđđ»đ
Edit; Also the editing was very well done imo as an audience member thatâs watched countless mod vids by many different video creators - yours has a really unique and quirky style that I really likeđđ»
Keep âem comingđ
Yay, thanks! So happy to hear that; I do feel like my editing has been getting better, and finding my own style is just the cherry on the cake. So feedback on that is always appreciated!
Finally, a good video with moderate and lore friendly mods, which doesn't overdecorate cities
One that I can't live without anymore is warbirds whiterun Metropolis, if you like the Solitude addition then this will be right up your alley
I will definitely give it a go! Looks like a big expansion :D
Omg your voice is so nice :D Thanks for the showcase.
Great work
Thank you, so much!
My favourite thing about The Great Cities is that the big patch collections allow you to combine The Great Cities, Cities of the North, and JK's Cities. I use CotN primary for Morthal, Dawnstar, and Falkreath, and TGC for Winterhold. Unfortunately can't get the added Jarl's castle to use the same texture as the rest of Winterhold but TGC of Winterhold looks amazing even without it.
I've personally always used a Frankenstein-ed combination of The Great Cities, Cities Of The North, JK's Skyrim and Dawn Of Skyrim. After that, I use a combination of other mods for the larger, walled cities. It was a wonderful mess that took me days to get working completely that I completely lost after my PC brokeđ„Č. Fortunately, I have a much better one now. I have gotten tired of constantly building and adding to my personal modlist that I finally decided to just straight up install a Wabbajack modlist. I've not finished downloading but Librum seems to be promising, especially in the cities department as it has 80% of my old mods, better than even Living Skyrim or Nolvus, I'd argue.
First of all I still love your videos and nice that there's a new one again!đâđœSecond: Wow..ok I'm definitely staying with the Cities of the North for Winterhold and with (ALSO MY FAVORITE TOWN!) Falkreath..For my own taste the Great Cities mods add just way too many details to lose onesself in them and for me the towns are way too different from what I fell in love with in the first place in Skyrim. Maybe I'm just too conservative lol... The case is different with Morthal. The Great City of Morthal is puuuuurrfect!đ» Love it!
Btw you really need to make a modlist video of your basis mods (that are stable in your mod order) one day. It looks very nice!đđđœ
Nothing wrong having a refined taste with Skyrim mods, everyone has their own opinion! Also love to hear that others share my Falkreath love haha đ I'll definitely make a modlist showcase video at some point!
Great video, very interested in The mod. I just couldn't help but notice how giant your player characters hands are when you're reading the lore from the book.
Thank you! Yes they're kind of big for sure xD
Idk what it's like, but you should check out Divine Cities! I don't know what all options are out there for city/town/village overhauls outside of the ones that have been made already, so I appreciate you making these :) I definitely prefer overhauls that delve more deeply into lore and individual identities and feel for each unique place. Maybe after trying out several overhaul mods, you could make a video comparing and contrasting them all? You could even rate them, lol. I think it would also be nice to know which ones are and aren't compatible with each other, with or without patches.
I'd definitely like to review them all in a single video! And thanks for recommendation, I'll check it out đ€©
Great video!
Much appreciated!! đ
I really like the new winterhold, the only reason i go to the city is because of the college, but now this can change
Falkreath is one of my favourite villages, but all look B.E.A.Utifulđ
I've been patching The Great Cities series with Cities of the North.
The combo gives the expansions ans fortifications from The Great Cities and the unique architecture from Cities of the North. It's possible to add JK'S as well.
I use The Great Towns series as well, which are all great.
From the showcase, I will definitely be checking out the Winterhold update. I appreciate how it now fits with the college's architecture.
I need to get into patching these mods as well! I'm sure the result is insane. Winterhold is now perfect with the newest update!
@@BardsCollegeGraduate if you haven't seen it yet, a patch compendium has already been posted, lol!
The only thing from Cities of the North I was going to miss was the castle, and someone patched it, so I'm looking forward to that. I'll use the base mod first, of course.
The only thing that don't resonate to me is that the great collapse occurred approximately 80-years before the start of the game. In some way I would have to believe there would have been attempts at rebuilding Winterhold. Instead Winterhold was left in ruins to become basically a ghost town. If the College was still there and thriving and people were living within the ruined city walls why weren't there attempts at rebuilding or fixing up the city? Were they just lazy? If the city was rebuilt in some way more people would most likely move back in making it a thriving city once again. 80-years is a long time of doing nothing about the collapse. On another note Solitude sitting on top of that rock formation could experience a similar fate as Winterhold in the future if there ever was an earthquake. It's beautiful but awful dangerous looking.
Good stuff!
Thank you for including the list of mods for this đ finally can live the real Skyrim experience and not vanilla garbage.
Enjoy!!

Aw, no problem! I really like your videos, I watch them even if I haven't played Skyrim in ages because they feel so cozy! đ„° Keep up the good work!
Agree Falkreath is my favorite, I have to intentionally avoid the province
Very nice review once again, Miss
I like almost every major city overhaul there is, specially Cities of the North, but Winterhold never looked better, as far as I've seen
I've been a long time user of the Great City of Solitude, the best for the city, for me. I had some problems on the Xbox One S with some from the same series (particulary Falkreath) and testing being so tedious in that setup I just gave up. Maybe I'll reseaech better next time, it's been a while
Nice avatar, nice choice of armor and animations. I'm more oriented to the nitty-gritty side of things (always appreciating proper script and voice-over, of course) but it just works
Yet, It's not quite winter (not in Spain). Don't rush so fast over autumm, my favourite season! I know, I know, but I suggest this year try to make ammends with it, maybe open pinterest, type autumm, get inspired by new perspectives...
Such a strong symbolism...
Congrats again, Miss.
Best
Quite a lovely read this comment was, thank you Julio! You made me rethink my attitude on this season, and best wishes to Spain- I love the country :)
@@BardsCollegeGraduate Then my work is done
The hispanist in me is rejoicing as well. I'm particularly bucolic. I'm from Santander, I suggest you check it out, I love this city (not the bank, mind you)
Always a pleasure to review and comment these videos, I find them quite useful and very nicely done as you know. I thought last time I could've been percieved as creepy with the autumm reference but since you seem receptive, I'd advise you to brace youself, because I don't know where this might end. Somewhere quaint probably
Miss
Uh you mentioning the great winterhold gave me an idea, it would be really cool if there was an add on to the mod to rebuild the destroyed parts of the city, like the helgen rebuild mod.
Great video! (your voice sound like a hug :} )
Ok so first of all I just found your channel last night via this video and I'm very impressed, totally subscribing! Second and more important: does the great city of winterhold mod change the college itself? I ask because I use a modded college and idk if it's compatible ....
It shouldn't alter the College in any way, to my knowledge. And thanks, welcome!!
@@BardsCollegeGraduate Hey it you were right, it worked great! If I may make a recommendation for a future vid, you should do a review of the mod "Holds, a city overhaul". I would love to see your opinion on it. :)
@@Spuggky45 Great to hear, and I'll try to get on that! Thanks for the suggestion đ
Good video. Now I'm interested. But I'll have to read up on the mods. I'm expecting a lot of conflicts with other mods.
Falkreath needs a cave that leads into underground catacombs. That would really represent the lore quite well.
This idea right here, mod creators ^
Hey, another great video! Which armour and enb are you using?
Hi, I appreciate that! I'm using Wind Ruler armor (www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/60842) and Rudy's ENB :)
This really inspired me to add even more mods to the ever growing behemoth of a modlist. :D Which textures are you using here for the buildings?
Noble Skyrim is my staple texture mods, should affect buildings as well!
I usually use "ClefJ's Morthal' and 'Winterhold Restored' just because they add much needed vendors in those sections of the map. I like the more stone aspect of the Winterhold mod, that' is what is missing from Winterhold Restored. I might have to add the Falkreath mod next go around, but I'll have to swap Helgen Reborn out to do that, since Helgen Reborn adds some structures for the storyline. As for Morthal, I use Morthal Home and it gels well with ClefJ's Morthal both in architecture textures and location, I have a feeling I'd lose that home if I added the Great Cities Morthal mod.. looks great though, like they all do. That's been one of my biggest issues with Skyrim all along, where are all the homes, farms, smaller villages, way-stops with inns? Where do all these people come from and where do they live? I have to add Reich Corrigate, Dunpar Wall, Granite Hill, Blackthorn Village, just to make my Skyrim seem more like a country, not just a land that has some big cities..... I like your style of video, and you present the viewer with both pro's and con's, like FPS loss or incompatibilities, and you use them because you like what they add to your game not just because they're trending or new. I like your accent too, I can't quite place exactly where you're from though, but it sounds like you're Slovenian.. please tell me just so I can note it in my 'brain file' of European accents.
Not Slovenian, I'm Nordic! And thank you for the compliments and taking time to write this comment.
Let me take your breathe away even more with a second college at winterhold. WHAM! Oh but I am not done. Imagine, Winterhold Harry Potter. WHAM! Four Colleges!
9:00- Three cities I actively avoid in Skyrim. Falkreat, Morthal, Karthwasten. By the way, I think I've only seen karthwasten once in 10 years of gameplay.
nice cut and beautiful voice
Hey I just discovered your channel and love it! I was wondering, do you have a go to modding guide or one you recommend to follow? I'm just getting back into skyrim after 6 years and it's a bit overwhelming . My last playthrough was on LE but just got AE and looking to modernize my gameđ. Thanks for the great videos!
Welcome to the channel, and thank you! đđ For me personally, no, it's always been just mix-and-match and learn along the way type of thing, but I've heard good things about Wabbajack installer, so I recommend checking that out to get a jump start into AE! Good luck!
thank you love this video thanks have download all city so thanks again.question which armor do you use in the video

You're edeting is great don't worry
I'm thinking about trying tgco with cotn. I've been using jk's for too long lol
About the edit, it was pretty relaxing to watch
Relaxing is what I aim for! Also I'm in the same boat, jk's for life, maybe it's time to switch up xD
Go for it! I'm using TGC Dawnstar & Morthal with their COTN equivalents. With the compatibility patches, these 2 places look jaw-droppingly gorgeous. I'm currently torn between COTN & TGC Winterhold though. Both versions look so good and distinct in their own ways.
@@rizaldo02 Some people says that cotn feels kind of empty
