The song is great, but this is without question the greatest music video ever made. So far ahead of its time technologically, and as a story telling video, it has no peer. Your reaction of being pulled so much into the story is perfect!

I dunno, Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer, MJ’s Thriller, and Herbie Hancock’s Rockit were pretty damn good, too. But yes, this was a masterpiece.

@@andirandolph8830 Thriller to me is so much more than a music video. It's in a category all it's own without peer. Sledgehammer? Not really my thing, I think mainly because I like his older music much better than what he put out during this time but yes, the video is quite ahead of its time. I like Rockit too, but it doesn't have the moving "story" in it that this video does IMHO.

It also had a great storyboard - a girl loves a guy in a comic then gets trapped; both have to run away from baddies and she has to escape. In the end when it looks bleak then he escapes! So we had a great tune and an amazing, unique video. I think a lot of people are nostalgic for the video as well as the song :). Great reaction, thanks.

If you really like this, try some of their modern stuff. "Butterfly, Butterfly", "Foot of the Mountain" etc. They are fantastic. Also the acoustic version of this is also available, and magnificent.
Seen them live 5 times now, and they are brilliant!! Music of my youth!
