    The twenty dollar price point represents proportionally to how much it costs to make them. people are expecting these shirts JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE FROM YEEZY to be top notch quality comparable to designer clothing when Ye is just selling them for 20 bucks. Ye is an independent brand now and has to manage everything himself and he does not have a huge company backing him like adidas and nike and is still able to put out products at similar or if not cheaper prices than those big corporations. How much do you think it costs nike, adidas to make one of their tees, I can guarantee you its way cheaper than how much it costs ye to make his t shirts, and they are selling them for a price higher than what ye is doing. We buy from ye not only because we like his products but also we support him as an artist. So if you want "higher quality" or clothing with more "functionality" then buy them from somewhere else, don't buy it from yeezy then. Ye does not need people like this be buying his clothes anyways.

    • @debusen81
      @debusen81 Před 3 měsíci +2

      I would much rather pay double or triple for his stuff if it was more functional. I do like the shirts, but these pants are like he said, a waste of decent fabric. I have a bunch of his Gap clothing and it’s awesome.

      Just received the Vultures tee for me and the WET top for my girl and the quality on both are GREAT! It’s better than some of these brands that charge 50+ for a tee. Idk what ppl are on. • @ruffmadman
    @ruffmadman Před 3 měsíci +3

    Honestly this was my reaction when i recieved it. Though you were much more articulate and technical about the analysis of the items. In the end, even though I wasnt out much on the shirt, pants, and pods, it was a neat lesson on conspicuous consumption. Because realistically, I wont be wearing these anywhere.

  • @alexhayworth
    @alexhayworth Před 4 měsíci +4

    Some of these comments are like a study in consumer psychology, in how people rationalize and defend purchases, and even the association they have with a given product/its creator. I don't think $20 for that tee is so bad if you're in it for the aesthetics, don't know where else to look, have been raised on fast fashion and are caught up in hype...though saying that is still a stretch. Those pants are just ridiculous - you could achieve the same look with any number of sweatpants, with a whole lot more default functionality.
    Short of framing this all as some ultra-utilitarian experiment set in the context of a post-apocalyptic world (where you'd probably need more functionality than you see here), it all sums up in my mind as a cash grab, too. Maybe it's best thought of as semi-disposable, novelty merch. I haven't payed much attention to Kanye for years now, but I used to be a big fan, and heard enough boasting about what he was seeking to create in the world to think he could have done much better for his fans. And the idea that people/an industry/whoever are against him, and that's the reason for [insert whatever he's made] is so painfully tired. But I guess people can be his seed money if they so choose.

    lots of ignorance tbh, 20 for pants is rare Extremely rare if it looks remotely good. Im also sure he losing a profit on the clothes. Hes also worth like half a billion already, sure its gonna make money but literally everything is 20$ so like they lose 10-20 per yzypod before they switched to china which didn't really change the quality, they arent losing money at all on the shirts and hoodies but they arent making much and like its 20$ you get what u paid for, cry bout it fr. Idk why what he is doing isn't as praised as what these huge fashion houses do, 20$ is like 1/15 of a single blank acne studios tee that its only main difference based on this channel is the gsm, neck stichting and maybe different cotton, like its better but a instead of 20 make it 40 expensive and ik I don't have to buy but at least kaney is on YOUR side, the consumers side which the distributor is trying to manipulate the most. Hes been trying to actually sell his clothes for free, that's his plan at least, and its okay not to believe in his idea or plan but I mean its not good to put down quite literally one of the only people in the industry trying to actually yk change things on a real world level, change the landscape of how we consume fashion and maybe we can live in a world where sillouhletes and designs arent gatekept by big brands like balenciaga or vetements

    The more I think about it; if he was serious about maximizing fabric consumption and reducing waste, there would have been a way to add darts w/out cutting off the excess and the fit would have been improved. He could have added darts at top waist where the outerseam of the pants would have been and do a topstitch to sew it down, same thing along the bottom leg. Also could have added one at the shoulder on the top to actually have a shoulder slope and not look like you're wearing a paper bag. I'm wondering about the inner tag that was cut off in the side seam allowance; it it was for dye lot if it's garment dyed, the tag would have been colored, unless it's polyester? The garment looks like it's fabric dye, not garment dye since the rib neck band is completely different color undertone.
    Yes, I overthink all the time.

    I got a bunch of the stuff. Honestly quality isn't terrible. I feel they would last a while. The cut and designs of them are intentional. Some of us are Executives and Presidents and some of us like clothes that don't have to fit a mold. I love the whole hand made feel of it that you usually only get with handmade clothes. Everything unfinished is supposed to be. You don't need pockets if you got a bag. Time to level up homie. Excuse to get that yeezy man purse if they ever make it. But honestly ask his designer Gosha. Find out what his vision is. It might make sense in the end, and we should embrace creativity that can bring about change. I like the expression he choose because peoples goal when dressing if nit for comfort is to be noticed. The cut and unfinished finess of the designs are sure to attract attention. You stand out that way. The cut of your clothes will have more impact than the fabric unless you got some wizard stuff. You may too, I believe you do, but this stuff works too. It's OK to be different.

    Price floats either above or below cost of production, but ultimately price is directly determined by cost of production. The capitalist is not going to keep wages the same while limiting his share in order to get prices lower, he's going to lower the wages in order to keep his share high. At the end of the day, the wages and cost of materials don't even come from the sold items, they come from the already existing capital of the capitalist. The capitalist takes EVERYTHING from the sold price and adds it to their fat belly while the worker's only means of subsistence is by selling their own body, selling their labour power. You cannot get a 20 dollar t-shirt without massively exploiting people abroad. How many people had to die to make this possible? Billions died. That's what it takes to maintain the system folks.

    So basically this isn't even as good as some of that fast fashion stuff that's cheaper with quality control. Absolute junk. At what point will Kanye realize the relevance and importance of Adidas managing all of this.
    There are people opening up their packages and going crazy at how good they think this stuff is. As a previous screen print shop owner myself I know the value of simple shirts and this is trash.
    I also feel like he's going to be fined per garment because clothing has to, has to according to US law have a place of origin label. That's going to cost him.

    • @cartertowner
      @cartertowner Před 4 měsíci

      I was curious about there being no labels as well, so I looked it up
      If the garments are originating from the US, they are not required to have identification
      Only if they have been imported. Like the Yeezy pods, have “Made in China” on the inside of the dust bag they come in

    • @Shiftfashiongroup
      @Shiftfashiongroup  Před 4 měsíci +1

      We are based in Canada. So these are being shipped Cross Border. There are also labelling requirements as some consumers have allergies to certain fibres.
      There is absolutely no doubt that Adidas gave Kanye their systems and processes to sell products that actually met quality standards.

    WHAT MADE IN ITALY MEANS...
    Here's something I also learned last night watching the documentary Brandy Hellville and of course fast fashion.
    Those 'made in Italy' labels are coming out of an area in Italy called Prato. It's a town in Italy where all the Chinese owned sweatshops are. THEY ARE ALL FAST FASHION FACTORIES. The same Chinese companies in China have moved into this town in Italy. Chinese owners Chinese workers, with the same pay. Because these factories are located in this town of factories in Italy they of course had the 'made in Italy' label.
    That tells me that those pods with the 'Made in Italy' don't mean s***!! And here I was mad that I was going to be getting the maid in China pods as opposed to the made in Italy and it's the same s***. 🤬🤬

      @Shiftfashiongroup  Před 4 měsíci +1
