- Always have a smile while ridding the 1997 KDX220 Dirt Bike Magazine / MotoSport build 🍀 For those asking when and why they made the 220, here you go. Kawasaki came out with the KDX200 in 1983, and it was a massive hit for off road riders. In 1997 Kawasaki introduced the KDX220 along side the 200. The 220 was basically the same bike with a bigger bore and smaller carb to gain torque. Some people didn’t like the 220 due to its short power range and not revving as well. To get this bike to open up some power, we put on a bigger Lectron Fuel Systems, Pro Circuit ported the cylinder, Pro Circuit header pipe and a KX250 muffler that we made fit. Vintage Works MX did the shock, and we fabricated 2004 KX125 forks to fit. It absolutely rips bottom to top 🔥 Do you guys prefer the KDX200 or KDX220? better to ride a slow bike fast then ride a fast bike slow..also those KDX 220's are awesome machines
Pretty sure his kdx is quite upgraded, those front forks for example, they didnt come with suspension like that. Pretty sure its got a bigger carb now too and maybe bigger intake and exhaust, but your point still stands because he rode it like this before all the upgrades, i just doubt it would last as long

The KDX 220 is probably the best all purpose bike ever built. I had one that I upgraded the suspension on and it was a beast whether in the woods or on an MX track. Wish I still had it but I traded it and an XR 200 for a KTM 525 which was a straight animal.

My parents almost bought me this exact bike off my math teacher, when I was in 9th grade, I wanted it so bad but they never ended up getting it.
