Tommy was incredible.
His playing on Billy Cobhams album 'Spectrum' is mind blowing.
Tommy was beyond excellent, every project he took displayed his unique styling, he is sorely missed
Rest in Peace Tommy!
the talent assembled on the teaser album is a who's who and mind blowing
❤
Come taste the band was a superb album but I can understand why most Purple fans can't stand it. It went totally against the grain of their previous work with its rock/funk vibe
This dovetails back on the prog issues. High school grads with avg. Iqs into bad co... Bolins purple too sophisto and challenging. Blackmore always had keen commercial instincts and tho equal to Hendrix, plays to the gallery. Bolins also hampered by serious drug problems picked up from zephyr and singer candy givens. I saw her and texacala Jones at their respective worse. Givens worse
We bought the zephyr album when it came out!!! My goodness what a killer album!! Love you Tommy!! RIP 🪦
Bolin had almost unlimited potential. If he had only taken better care of himself.....
Went to see Jeff Beck @ the Curtis Hixon in St. Pete Fl. on Dec. 5th. hoping to see Tommy Bolin opening up for him. Jan hammer and the rest of Jeff Beck's Group opened up instead:(
What a shameall that wonderful talent gone to waste due to substance abuse another great musician gone to addiction
I couldn't agree more, very sad indeed 😥 Thank you for watching ☺️
What a fantastic video have a wonderful weekend ❤😊
Thank you my friend, you also ❤🌺🌞
En extremt bra musiker. Hans mor är från Sverige som jag själv. Någon som vet var någonstans från Sverige hon är uppväxt ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hon var från Linköping...
Och tack.

Drugs are EVIL!
Never heard his name though must have heard his music. Such a pitty he didn't have the right people around him to help him with his problems, he had some tips and warnings but I mean family and professionals to talk some sense in a troubled yet very talented mind.
Un artista ❤
Saw tommy in hollywood fl and jeff beck and jan hammer good consert
Come, taste of the band was the very first album that I bought with my own money.. I bought it in a mall in Louisville Kentucky because it looked cool and it had a wine glass with faces in it on the cover. That’s the only reason.. I was 11 years old
That album made me beg my parents for a guitar and I am a lifelong musician because of that album and because of Tommy Bolin..and Richie Blackmore and I even got to meet Deep purple down in Florida years later in the early 90s in my opinion, the greatest guitar players look at Tommy’s body of work and he died when it was 25 so a six year. He accomplished an amazing amount of work in a six or seven year period from being a teenager to passing away at 25 years old…. if you’ve never heard of him dig deep here on CZcams there’s plenty of great recordings. He is an awesome guitar player with a style all his own
Spectrum continues to be regarded as the best jazz fusion album ever recorded. Very much due to Tommy Bolin.
I used to see Tommy, and singer, Candy Givens, with their band, Zephyr in Boulder. Tommy loved his Echoplex!
Stratus. Epic.
Always very respectfully and tastefully done 😊
Aww thank you, it means a lot 🤗💕
@@HarmonyHeartsLifestyle-ul5yv you're most welcome, your videos are always enjoyable and some of the celebreties you feature are one's I don't know well, and I learn a lot!
Now I have a few more albums to anticipate exploring! Thanks!
Bolins live work with deep purple astounding
I agree 100% Thank you for watching
I lived in Boulder Colorado when Bolin was in Zephyr and then I remember when he quit the band and became a glam rocker. He was definitely a standout in Boulder with his purple hair, bell bottoms, platform shoes, eye shadow when everyone else was dressed in plaid shirts and denim jeans. And there was a guy named 'Mad Jack" who was Zephyr singer Candy Givens boyfriend and also a drug dealer who lived way out of town in what later became Indian Peaks golf course. Anyway, folks who hung out with Jack told tales of Tommy partying big-time at Jack's house whenever Tommy was in town. Tragically, later on Candy ended up overdosing and dying in Mad Jack's hot tub.
Thank you for sharing! I heard she passed a few years after Tommy. Such a waste of amazing people and talent 😢 It's heartbreaking! 💔
Tommy Bolin
Had a Sense of Urgency

In 25 Years
Well I got my answers. I just listened to the life and times of Tommy. To bad because of UNWANTED publicity the drill sergeant would not call 911.what a tragedy.I never knew that Tommy wrote so many songs..When using drugs people always remember moderation. So young like Lynard Skynyrd so young also. Can only imagine how many thousands of songs those guys still had in them Tommy and Ronnie
Blackmore was that person who said to Deep Purple members that they take Bolin . He did visit him before that and knew he can play.
DEEP PURPLE MK 4 could have been a superb band if HUGHES and BOLIN had eased off all the potions they were on....
LORD, PAICE and COVERDALE were at their best around this time....
I would have liked more Come Taste The Band's....
Tommy Bolin !!!!!
Underrated guitaris
Manythnx Harmony & ❤s
You're more than welcome, thanks for watching!😁👍
I only know his work on Spectrum. He played some great solos on that album.
A drug related death at 25 years old? Reminds me of James Honeyman Scott of The Pretenders. Awful.

At 6:41, you mention that Tommy Bolin “injured” his hand and could not play his guitar. I believe I read somewhere that Tommy was the worse for wear after “substance abuse” before a gig, and lost consciousness. He fell asleep on his arm and fretting hand leaving the limb temporarily lifeless and rendered him unable to play. Tommy was “stood” out on stage with his guitar, ready to play. The other band members rallied round and “placed” his hand on the neck of the guitar, but to no avail. The gig was a disaster for Tommy and Deep Purple.
It’s such a shame that Tommy Bolin’s life and musical career was ruined by the demon that is hard drugs. May he Rest In Peace.
Yes I believe he pulled tendons in his arm when it was asleep. What an amazing talent he was, a gifted genius! 💯We are still blessed to have his music out there for generations to hear and appreciate 🎸❤
I read that a heroin injection needle hit a nerve and messed his arm up.
Drug addiction is a deadly thing and it’s such a shame that it kills peoples creativity. Look at all the great badge. I don’t even have to name them because you know who they are where they’re output with them much greater and much better. Have they not been hooked on heroin or cocaine, just killed the music industry. Think of what could have been if drugs were not involved…. I’m not preaching… I’ve had a problem myself for years and I’m sure I would do better if I didnt
From the same town as tommy. talk to his brother on occasion . his family I think still lives in the same house .
Yes this video really cut deep. Such a waste of immense talent, he was and will always be AMAZING!
”… injured his hand and Jon Lord had to play his solos.”
- he was so stoned that he slept on his arm and pinched a nerve and was unable to play the concert in Japan.
He played at all the shows but was compromised for a couple weeks with the pinched nerve
Who is that pictured?
post toastee!
A great guitarist. Loved his rock input but didn't like the more funky stuff.
Tommy was one of the best and most creative guitar player!! Though addiction played its part Tommy was betrayed by his mob connected manger, who had million dollar insurance policy and allowed Tommy to OD! REDRUM!
Completely wrecked band at DeMontfort Hall Leicester. Half full venue with punters less than impressed by DPs disjointed performance.
Every band is allowed a stinker on stage but this wreaked for a very long time afterwards...
Tommy 😮 oops I thought Tamara
What is it with musicians and hard drugs? It goes back to the 1930's.
uh, i'm sure it goes back a lot farther than than that...
Big mistake joining Deep Purple. Whatever his talent, no one could follow Blackmore. That said, dying at 25 - why do so many musicians go like this?
