    Its about 20 years since I was in Limerick, we visited there and Galway on holiday. They were undertaking a huge civil engineering project and the B&B owner asked why we were there as no one visited Limerick who wasn't working on the project.
    I know it rained a lot and she said Ireland will be a great country once they finish the roof!
    Also used T2 at Dublin recently for a Transatlantic flight and its wierd entering what is part of US territory when you go through the US customs. US flags and photos of Biden and senior politicians staring at you. Great terminal though and very quiet.

    • @pingu255
      @pingu255 Před rokem +4

      Sorry to be pedantic but the zones after the pre-clearance areas, such as at Dublin, are not part of US territory. Even if you have passed the pre clearance checks, you're still under the jurisdiction of Irish law, until you've departed on your flight. CBP officers at Dublin can't detain a person unless they suspect them of carrying a weapon, obstructed a CBP officer in his duty, or having committed an offence under Irish law. In any such case the detainee must be handed over to the Irish authorities to be dealt with under Irish law.

    • @helenaville5939
      @helenaville5939 Před rokem +2

      @@pingu255 Yes, I remember back in the early 2000's when the US and Ireland were stuck in negotiations because the US wanted part of the airport to have the same status as embassy territory, ie to be US-owned territory so that the US Customs clearance could be operated under US law. Ireland held out for two years and wouldn't budge, and the US eventually caved. This is why US Customs in Ireland is a much more friendly process than in the US - no shackling of passengers, less invasive body searches performed under Irish law, etc.... and, as you say, the US Customs personnel cannot arrest anyone - suspect passengers must be handed over to the Irish police.
