I hate it so much when I used to call an IT to show him what's wrong and when he get's to my desk somehow the problem fixed itself. They kinda smile wiley-like as they leave and I feel dumb af. Dwight is a weirdo so practically speaking whatever is on his hard drive wouldn’t shock anyone. Same kinda goes for Meredith, Creed and Kevin. Stanley and Phyllis probably barely know how to web search, Angela’s most racy search is “how to get cat hair out of my throat” and Jim and Pam are just... bored 24/7 I guess. And bringing out Oscar's Grindr account is just cruel.

In retrospect, now that I'm older, this is so wild. I work at a law firm and the IT guy is the nicest dude ever who saves the day when technology decides it wants to bail on us lmao. Why you'd treat badly the IT guy of all people is beyond me.
From my personal experience, people who typically arent the most technologically savy have this superiority complex, where what they do "matters more" than what you, the IT guy, do.
They view IT almost as a service offered to them whenever their stuff doesn't work. Now while this is technically true, there are a lot more responsibilities IT has, such as making sure devices and applications are up to date, and that security protocols are up to date as well. They don't realize how important IT and Cybersecurity is in todays world. Some people born in older generations don't really acknowledge the fact that things are more interconnected than before, so they see extra security as a hinderance since they mainly care about functionality.
Another thing too, people also get mad when IT people wont fix something without a ticket first, as they feel they can have their problems solved faster through directly speaking to someone. While that can be true, people dont understand that not everyone in IT specializes in your specific problem, and someone else may pick up the ticket if you had submitted one. Furthermore, if an IT guy does something on someones computer as a "favor" and it breaks, now the responsibility is on the IT guy to fix it.
Ive had a great time learning a lot about the field however I have learned a lot about the perception of IT from others due to interactions ive had. Some people are nice and understanding while others, not so much lol

People do t realize that the ticket system is meant to help us know who needs assistance, and keeps a record of the stuff that we do. If we just went and fixed stuff because people would ask us there’s no way to organize and prioritize things

Creed gets the funniest lines. Sometimes he doesn't even get a line and steals a scene. Example: when Dwight makes Pam throw up by eating his egg and everyone else starts vomiting or running for the bathroom...in the way background at his desk Creed is eating a giant bowl of Ramen and smiling.

As a teacher who’s can’t function with IT, I always make friends with the IT department. They are critical to literally everything.

What makes this better is that in a later episode when they're trying to remember the server password, they refer to him as "Glasses" and not his actual name. Extra bit of insult to injury.
Granted, they also (presumably) refer to Sadiq as "Turban" or something along those lines.

Actually his name is Robby. He ended up moving to LA, dates a pretty girl named Cece and then after Cece realizes she's in love with one of her best friend's roommates, leaves Robby broken- hearted and devastated which then leads him to dating Cece's best friend but then they find out their like third-cousins or something.

the IT department is like the organization’s punching bag lmao especially when you’re maintaining software. if it works, you’re just doing your job. if it suddenly doesn’t, it’s your fault. the idea that it’s a user error is just a myth
Honestly if you assume that "not rebooting" and "installing random software" are part of user error, we're talking like 75% of all problems are user error.
I only manage my family's network and network devices or fix their stuff and occasionally help other people. I sometimes get a "what'd you do to it" I couldn't imagine working in an IT department 😭. At this point I'm used to it.

I definitely did when I worked as a Medical Assistant (MA) and is the reason I didn’t last very long .. most of the people I worked with only acted nice and were friends with each other, but were petty behind closed doors when you did one thing wrong 😅 But I agree, Nick is definitely relatable here 🙌🏼🙌🏼
