  • The police have blocked off the road in Dunstable (Bedfordshire) next Asda. The bus was forced to turn around on a roundabout that was not designed for buses. The driver showed his skills and got himself turned around whilst the police just watched him.2021
I have recently recorded another video of a bus with the exact same problem, exact same place.

I noticed pedestrians walking directly behind the bus as it was trying to reverse. I am disgusted at the lack of support from the idle occupants of the police car. And these guys are always setting themselves up as guardians of road safety. It's time we had a dedicated Highway Patrol (to serve and protect ) and get the police to concentrate on crime

same happened to me whilst driving local bus service. RTC blocked two lanes, traffic was patiently taking turns to pass the obstruction and was still flowing, when plod arrived he parked in the only remaining live lane, meaning traffic had to also snake around his van. I wasnt having any of it, I parked the bus, got off and explained to the police officer he was now part of the problem, pointed out that he was "stood In a car park" but his van was in the only live lane on the road. He looked a little puzzled, so to I made it a little easier for him to understand, by demanding at volume, "Shift that obstruction, your van, out of the live lane and into THIS car park where you are standing Idiot", before reminding him his 1.5 Ton van would offer no resistance to my 13 Ton bus, should he need my help to move it. 2 Minutes later said van was indeed in the car park. Hopefully he learnt something that day.

Had a similar experience in London with driving a bus, police closed the road due to another bus being in an accident caused by failed temporary traffic lights. I had to turn back due to the radio call was made after I'd already entered the road. Police told me to wait for my controller to come out - my controller had told me turn around and get on the diversion, which I told the officer. The officer then told me she would not help me and was going to walk behind the bus back to her car and that I'm on my own. My only passenger ended up helping me avoid the low hanging tree obstacle and I finally got back on route.
