Me and my friends were traveling into Kansas on a road trip, and as we crossed a dam over a massive lake, this song started playing. We were all silent, unable to speak as the music juxtaposed with the sight of the setting sun spread over top of the lake. It was magical. I still get chills when I hear this song. I want this song to be played at my funeral.
This was definitely one of the songs that REALLY struck a chord with me in Merriweather. It makes me think back to every time I've been stuck doing something repetitive for the sake of pleasing others, the opposite sex, society, etc. I haven't lived long, but I'm already feeling pressured by everything. Pressured by humanity, pressured by the boundaries of science, hell, even pressured by gravity! Sometimes, ya' just wanna break free.
How beautiful is it that someone had the mind to just write a song about their kid and the activities that he partakes in with the child. This is what life is about. Its all just love.

Well, I listened to this song on my ipod while doing laundry and I wasn't on any drugs at all but in a cathartic moment, when the song hits that … blissful resolving chord… and holds it... the tears leaked out of my eyes like blinding bright diamonds falling down my cheeks in a crystallized realization of all that is sad and beautiful and perfect, and all the world is understood and plainly seen on the head of a pin.

Thing I love about animal collective is that, in every single interview I've read with them, they always swear that they don't really go by the "normal confines of music," time signatures, chords etc... But with that childlike quality in their music there's still an amazing sense of music precision... like this song in 5/4... doesn't just come out of nowhere...
Somehow, everytime I listen to this song it always disapears among my thoughts and within what I'm doing at that moment and I just realize that I'm listening to it when it finishes, because it leaves a huge empty silence out there.
I listened to this song while tripping on mushrooms and looking across a lake as the sun set. The pine trees where vibrating with the music at the end of the song and I felt like they where singing to me. I think the spirit of the Earth used this song, the trees, and the sacred mushroom to convey its yearning to me.
Once the beginning part flourishes into the chaos and my mind explodes I start conducting the song. I can't explain why but Its uncontrollable, my body just takes over and my mind goes into another world

Try listening to it high and you'll get these pictures and meanings and hear every little beat and sample. After that you'll totally appreciate it alot more.
