    Noticed a Chorkie living partly in a vacant field & in the woods behind my home. Finally enticed him with food close enough to pick him up. Tried to find his owner for at least 2 weeks to no avail. It's been 2 months and Bilbo is now a member of our fur baby family. He'll play for hours with Butler, my 150lb Black Lab/Pit mix, but his best friend is Steven, our outside cat. Steven won't abide another cat or dog trespassing on his property, but immediately fell in love with Bilbo. They'll play together all day, explore my 1/2 acre fenced back yard shoulder to shoulder, then literally fall sleep hugging each other.

    I have had several yorkies and currently have two, but one is 16 years old. When a "yorkie" came up for adoption at a local rescue, my husband and I immediately were interested as we know the inevitable will happen and we will only have our 9 year old who will be as heartbroken as we to lose the 16 year old. Well, the dog turned out to be a chorkie and so we are trying to learn how they behave, etc. He is wonderful, but has found every tiny exit in our backyard fence, always returning. We have had to repair fence areas and watch him. He loves us and gets along well with the cats and two yorkies. He is smart and affectionate. I am glad that this video explains so much about them. I had no idea they even existed until our little one came into our lives.

    Great vid. Incredibly accurate apart from thinking that they tire easily. Have taken my lil shit for a 4 hr hike across the Welsh mountains, returned home ready to collapse in my chair, and my pup was there with a ball, ready to play.

    My little 'ReyRey" has long, silky, silver/gray hair. It's true, they're not bad about shedding. She house trained surprisingly easily and early. Only has "accidents" if i forget to walk her, and it'll happen right next to the outside door (shes really smart). I'm a OTR trucker so she's my little companion and never leaves my side. She's not had an accident in ny truck ever. I only walk her on a leash at home because I'm afraid a Hawk may get her..she barely weighs 6 lbs. Loves truckstops sometimes have fenced dog parks so I let her play anytine i get the chance at one. She'll run laps the entire time. She loves her rawhide chewies and i treat her with cheddar cheese bites. I have deliberately spoiled her to the point of cringe.. 😊 I have never had a more loyal and affectionate dog that seems to love me as much as i do her. I can easily go on and on about ReyRey and the main advice I would give someone thinking of owning one would be this...They will basically demand to be either in your lap, right beside you and right next to your feet. They are tiny and frail so YOU MUST CONSTANTLY be careful not to step on or sit on your pet!!!! They will also want to sleep beside you under the covers and snuggled close so... Sorry if i offend but if your a heavy person, the Chorkie may not be the best choice, unless your extremely mindful and careful of their presence. Much the same as you would a toddler.

      @lilmike2710 Před 8 měsíci

      @@debbiebosetti5723 If your Ginger is like my silky silver it doesn't just love to snuggle under the covers, but demands that she does.
      Right now she's in the floor of my truck messing up my rug that she hates for some reason 😳
      She can't stand for it to be laid neatly on the floor. She'll paw at each corner until it's all crumpled into a pile acceptable to her. . Ok, now she's scratching food out of her bowl onto the floor. Which is the only way she'll eat it.. And I have no idea why she does that.
      Thank you for telling me about your little cuttle bug... I'm just as fond of mine as she is of me. And I think she knows it and totally uses it to her constant advantage.

    My family just got our chorkies 1 boy (Kodi) 1 girl (Ryder) they are very smart 8weeks old , and energetic! They started out going on the potty pads with no problem 2nd week they started having accidents. Been trying to get them back on track. I can tell this is going to be a job 💆🏽‍♀️

      In my opinion, a puppy pad just encourages your pup to do his/her business in the house. My little Chorkie, Tink (short for Tinkerbell) has learned to be house broken in a couple of months. but they are stubborn about pooping in the house. She takes more after the Yorkie, with her face, body and long hair. Her hair is about four inches long, at one year of age, and you would never know that she's half Chihuahua, except for her coloring. She looks like her mama, the Chihuahua, being mostly white, with some large patches of black. She is adorable, but she loves to bark. I was amazed that she bonded to me on the first day that we took her home, even yowling even when I get into the bathtub! She loves people, and dogs, but she's scared of large dogs. She loves other people besides me, but she prefers to be with me, yowling at the top of her lungs when I leave her.

    @noeliagutierrez9503 Před 2 lety +2

    In my experience I don't think it's that they are hard to house train as adults, but that they like to pee inside in certain spots on purpose. I have a boy who is almost 8 years old, and we had to block off the kitchen because he will take every opportunity to pee in there. Since it is blocked off, he is forced to bark at us to open the back door since he doesn't seem to like peeing in other spots in the house. When he had fleas, he was peeing everywhere even as we turned our backs (usually if he pees inside he makes sure no one is around to catch him), so if anyone reading this is still having problems make sure to take them to a vet. Mine also gets smelly really easily which the vet says is fine but I wonder if it's just my chorkie that's like that.
