- Sam Rubin passed away last week at the age of 64. He was a fixture in Los Angeles as one of the most warm, welcoming reporters renown throughout the world. From his days at University High and Occidental, he is a reporter that defined Los Angeles. Let’s get into it.

I had the privilege of meeting Sam more than once at different points in my life. Once when I was a child since my mother worked for the main entertainment bank in Beverly Hills; another time because I was a student at a prep school where many celebrities took their kids to; and when I eventually got into entertainment law, I had a few run ins with Sam. He never changed; he was incredibly warm and personable. At first glance one would think he was just faking it, but after getting to really see him with other people, especially his kids, you learned it was just who he really was. May he rest in peace.
I've watched him on channel 5 since the 90's. He will be missed . Rest in peace Sam.

Met him in person when I used to work at Mc Donald’s. I recognized him when he approached me to order an ice cream cone. I greeted him and asked if it was him and he said yeah but had a small attitude. So ever since that I stopped watching him in KTLA and my view of him changed. Seems like he has a persona in tv compared to in person. Maybe he was having a bad day who knows. Didn’t make it obvious neither in a way to have people pay attention to him and ruin his day. R.I.P Sam Rubin. 🕊️
