They were drafted/volunteered to Red army late 1943-44 already, after Kursk. Once villages/cities liberated people were instantly joining/forced to join. On wikipedia there are statistics from which republics were soldiers, if in 1941 Ukrainians were almost the percent of their pop from all pop of USSR, but slightly less still I guess, maybe because of western ukrainians fighting reds in civil war, but in 1943 it was minimum ukrainians.

    It accelerates.
We are about 1 month away from the anniversary of my estimate that Ukraine can hold out for 1 year, before the eastern half would be lost.
I was thinking that with the very large amounts of western aid promised this year, that my estimate could be thrown off. But not by a large amount. The manpower crisis is unfixable.
There are western weapons which could have a dramatic impact, even with the manpower crisis, but the west won't share such high tech where some of it would fall into foreign hands.
I do disagree with criticizing Ukraine's tactics here though. It just doesn't matter anymore. They have extremely limited options now. They are going to lose more and more rapidly at this point, and no amount of tactical brilliance can avoid it. It's nearly time for a front-wide withdrawal back towards the Dnieper, to reorganize a new defensive position to protect western Ukraine. At that point, Russia will have all of it's objectives and then some. And there's little reason for the conflict to continue.
I don't think the US elections will change the conflict. Russia will have all it wants and more by Jan 20, 2025. There won't be anything left to negotiate about, except perhaps whether western Ukraine can join nato or not. Putin might trade some land east of the Dnieper for that, I dunno. It's possible that China might broker a peace deal which saves a bit more of Ukraine, but Biden/Harris and the EU can't do it. And it'll be more or less over before there's a new president in the US.

The entire approach of Zelensky regarding his hapless troops almost reflects his experiences in the world of entertainment. He has sought spectacular, media-intriguing events rather than fixing on a strategy to win. The Russians by contrast have done the latter after a long period when it appears that the Russian high command simply could not believe that Zelensky and his gang of "comedians" would be this stupid and opt for all-out war. When, after over a year Putin and his closest advisers saw that Zelensky really WAS that stupid and wanted to cruise for a real bruising, backed by his sponsors, then the Russian war of relentless attrition kicked in and was thoroughly designed to grind all opposition to dust. Russia will accept nothing less than capitulation from the comedians now. Anything less would allow Zelensky's sponsors to mount further military engagements at some later date and obviously to incorporate what's left of Ukraine into NATO. Russia will not and must not allow any of this. Yes, join the EU, let them spend trillions of Euro on infrastructure but ONLY civilian infrastructure OR ELSE.

I agree completely that the new Ukrainian offensive in the Sumi region is utterly stupid, with zero chance for success. Further more, stretching the line of combat is utterly moronic. Their forces are stretched thin, and this only worsens their situation by opening another front. If their thinking is that it will stretch out Russian forces they are truly delusional as Russia has more than 300000 reserves in the rear. Ukraine doesn't. A true case of 'cut your nose to spite your face'. Budanov, who organised this offensive, thinks he is clever with this move, but doesn't have the resources, manpower or equipment to make a significant impact, let alone sustain this offensive. To sum it up, think of this scenario. You have a fight with two bullies on your street. Your situation looks bad. Then you think it's a super clever idea to go look for another fight with two more neighbours in the street. It's illogical to think you will achieve anything.

What are your sources regarding the Russian border guards in the Sumy region? Reports that have come in over the past year indicate that Russia has no need to conscript manpower but that Russian men are volunteering at a rate around 1,500 per day. This was especially true when the terrorist attack took place in Moscow and though the number volunteering may have lessened somewhat there have been no reports to my knowledge that Russia has been conscripting for its armed forces. On a second related point the reports that have come in have shown that all volunteers to the Russian army receive more than adequate training, many months being spent on this, at least six months if not a year. Agin, where have you sourced your information on both these points. You appear to be misinforming your viewers here.

@@TheRussianAngle as far as I'm aware there is a mandatory service in Russia thats been around forever. However they aren't combat troops because they aren't contract soldiers. Basically they do the job of border security and the like much cheaper than putting military units on it. Thats my understanding of it anyway.
