- Of all the SR25 variants, why go with the worst?
The noise that comes out of these things is nasty - the chrono test was done before the final tuning of the gun & was a simple video update of the work for the customer.

I always thought it was weird how G&G on their SR25 they used a standard v2 gearbox, while on their L85 they used a SR25 cylinder and gears, it makes no sense!!!

They actually use their g2h gearbox in the Sr25 and the Tr16 308 models.

New Cyma Premium SR25 is the way to go nowdays imho.

I've had several G&G's throughout the past 8-10 years and they do typically sound pretty "bouncy" and tin-ish almost. Find this is easy to fix by heat shrinking the ends of your spring. Don't go crazy with the heatshrink or you will run into issues but a little on the front and(or) back tends to make the gun quieter with little to no difference in FPS

I have the new knights armament sr25 with the new gearbox (G2H whatever) it’s a beefed up v2 gearbox but keeps a standard v2 HopUp unit. Got a fluke when I got my first one with the HopUp bucking but when I got the replacement it shot beautifully, I went to change the motor to a more torque motor to pull a bigger spring and the draw required for it blew up the stock mosfet in the stock, which was shit. Bought the Perun mosfet for it and it solved all the issues. But G&g shouldn’t have had that to happen in the first place

what do you think of the G&G TR16 MBR 308SR, im planning on converting it to hpa but prob play with it as a an AEG for a bit (can't afford to drop that much cash at once) im gonna go with the air tank in the stock option airline free so less snagging
been running my GR25 for over 5 yrs now put in an upgrade barrel and tuned it up and never had a problem in all 5 yrs even did a distance test with fellow players and their MTW platforms and shot same distance guess i got lucky and got the one that was made just right lol

I believe that the quite fancy externals of G&G guns are ooling people a bit, I bought a G&G 552 and th externals are almost like the real deal, yet it shoots as well as my Cyma ak that cost 1/3 of the price. The Cyma has externals that are not that fancy but ok.
I've heard that Specna arms are really good, don't know if they have an SR25 model out yet though.
G&G has abled yo market itself as a luxury brand for some reason., at least where I live they are quite expensive.

Bought a second hand A&K over a new G&G. To be fair the guy who had it tried to remove a tooth from the piston and stripped the entire back end of it off, and some how killed the motor, but for £150, and £50 worth of parts, I genuinely love it.
What do you think about the King Arms TWA M4's? I got the Type 2 version and tbh it sounds alot like that SR25 you worked on here to me. Also, I can't advise the B&W Promethus M92's... they have a weird release valve in the mag that is apparently hard to find spares for and one of my mags blew the valve pretty much first fill. Not impressed.
Many thanks for this video, After much research, I purchased the Cyma sr25 platinum edition. build quality seems great, no play between the upper and lower, hop unit is great, The hop rubber fitted had trouble lifting heavier BBs but then alot of others do so....Meh. Had to trim the feed lips to fit the monster hop rubber but other then that it runs great! i have a perun hybrid to throw in it when the microswitch fails but until then, Fuck it, im running it as is until something breaks.
if i knew about all these problems with it then i would never had bought on 5 years ago. cost me a small fortune to get it shooting properly and as a dmr.

I'm agree the g&g arp9 sounds like a loose spring and I hate that sound and I want to get rid of it but the gun performance very good with a better barrel and hot rubber .Btw spot on arp9 impression noise 10/10

Do you know what causes that twangy sound? I had that with one of my old guns also. Is it the spring vibrating or the piston bouncing around after firing?
Hey j.s my a&k uses a v2 with a long nozzle. I can use the standard hop up though. My "matrix aka avengers " is also a v2 with long nozzle and the pos 2 peace hop up.
cyma would also be a good choice especially if u go with the new platinum line (cm.098 series)

I have the cm098 and it shoots nice, buy the nimh that comes with it doesn't work very well, i use a 7.4 lipo
I picked up the SR-25 QBS and it’s great, comes with a ported cylinder for some reason, and the stock nozzle isn’t great, thin plastic and no o ring, doesn’t seal very well, that being said it was still shooting .25s around 400, .3s 350 out of the box and the hop is it pretty good stock no problem lifting heavy BBs

What's your oppinion on the G&G GC16? I personally bought the GC16 Wildhog as my first replica and it doesn't sound nearly as bad as this one. Chose to buy the GC16 over the CM16 because of the better internals.
The newest GR25's use standard v2 hopups and nozzles now. So the old G&G mags dont work as the feed point is propietary now.

I have the A&K SR-25 Carbine and love it. Although mine seems to have some troubles with it's Hop-Up
Have the same problem, used shorter barrel and macaron rubber just to make the "joule creep effect" balance the energy loss on hopup
@@Ak1M1223 oh, that's not what's happening on my gun. My hop up jusg doesnt work at all. No matter how I Set it I get zero hop
@laughnau cryl8tr yea, Well I cant legally change the barrel length without having it Marke again with is not really worth the hassel. Ill just have to see of it get better in warmer weather and if everything fails ill buy a new unit

I have had a AK 74N and my buddy has the 74UN for over 2 years stock now @1.5J running on 11.1V lipos flawlessly. Not the best trigger or the snappiest, but it is the most reliable AEG I have ever had my hands on. The mags are cheap aswell and the exterior finish is superb, no better AK for the money.
what exactly did you do to this i have a G&G MBR308 and wanna up the FPS and make it more consistent, any ideas?

why would shortening the barrel increase fps? is it related to cylinder/ barrel volume ratios?
Any thoughts on the Secutor RAPAX as a DMR platform? Looks pretty solid and has the ability to lock it in semi auto right out of the box.
It's an Ares OEM. You can start looking for some info from there.
Its a ares gearbox...not bad, but needs some work done. I believe its the same one as in the hk 417

Well highlight of the video is your adorable Geko, such a cutie. Hmm seems to be one of the old generation G&G 308. My brother plays a G&G MBR 308 SR for two years now. And there you don't have all that shit with the Hop-unit, but yea it's still just a V2 cylinder, but in his case with just 400mm inner barrel, that is no issue. The MBR series is not bad at all, you are just limited in barrel lenght when using heaver BB's like every regular V2 gearbox. Fitting a Maxx hop unit is also no problem with the MBR series, my brother runs a Maxx in it. Then we also have a G&G F2000, but well, still the best quality F2000 out there, G&G just makes good plastic. But i agree absolutely with you, for a real DMR build using a rifle with a fill 19 teeth Piston is necessary, no complains there.

Are you sure it's not the worst, VFC do an sr25 also. But yes, I'd lean to something with a extended or 2.5 gearbox.
Luckily for me, I got my g&g gr25 spr (that's the one without the supressor) for free with a bipod and a scope.

wish you made this video 15 years ago or so i go this thing sounded awful stripped the bevel gear 2nd time i used it i didnt realize at the time it was a smaller gear box trying to find thing like the cylinder is awful my friend recomended this gun recomended i get a bore up for it he put it in he had to cut it to fit now its more inconsistante then ever just ordered the selector plate cause it fires full auto all together spent about 1000usd of it just to look at it for 15 years sitting in the corner i want to fix it is it possible to put the extended gear box in it and the shorter hop up?
So what SR25 do you recommend? Looking for a good one out of the box but willing to do some work, dont want to replace EVERYTHING tho

I don't get the proprietary mag thing from G&G. They do it as well with their AKs. Literally all AK magazines are at least somewhat compatible, except G&G.
Also I can definitely confirm the cracking gearbox, I had a cracked gearbox with a pneumatic blowback gun. Rest of the internals were pretty decent though.
Really? I've used both KA and CYMA midcaps in my G&G AK-104 and they fit nicely, same story in my friends G&G AK. My LCT RPK was actually more picky with mags, CYMA mags would barely fit inside that idiot magwell, while they fit just fine in my G&G.
@@hakont.4960 Maybe it is dependent on the type of rifle. I have personally tested it with a friend who has a G&G RK EVO 103, which didn't fit CYMA (both unmodified and with a slightly sanded lip to fit an E&L) or E&L mags (not that the E&L mags matter anyways, since they are utter garbage).
@@tHaH4x0r That's odd, I guess your RK EVO 103 might be an older model? G&G has had some magazine fitment issues in the past, but they seem to have fixed it in later years.
@@hakont.4960 Could be, I am very curious to try a newer one then. From my experience G&G guns have pretty okay internals. Although currently I have an E&L with which I am more than happy with, it just weighs a shit ton.
@@tHaH4x0r I'm kinda biased in this matter, since I always upgrade and modify the internals of my AEG's. That's why I prefer G&G, they have better tolerances overall than other brands from what I've seen. I had a G&P M16, that thing had unacceptable tolerances externally, and even the grip sat at a wrong angle to the gearbox. Same story with my LCT, that thing was a nightmare to work on, too tight fitting parts and too many uneccessary screws. CYMA is on the other end of the scale, too loose fitting parts and overall crude construction.
My G&G AEG's are higher end G&G's though, their combat machines may have a bit more slack in the tolerances.

Quick question to anyone who knows this, can a ares sr25 hop up unit fit in a g&g sr25 as I've just bought some ares sr25 mags that fit my g&g sr25 but doesn't line up with hop up unit to feed, i got my g&g sr25 dirty cheap and wanted to play around with it to experiment on upgrading guns
G&G GR25 is the worst I have encountered. Got one with crooked barrel years ago and it wasnt seen visually. After taking the outer barrel off, then understood that its crooked totally. Also when removing the handguard, the upper just disintegrated in my hands. When testing with m150 spring, the gb shell crapped out. I think I have video of it somewhere. I stay clear of these now :P

Depends what you want platform wise no one brand is good at everything.
Is it just this g & g that is bad. I spent £320 on a g & g tr16 mbr 556wh. Is it any good in your opinion as I thought it was quite snappy.

The cyma plat is hands down the best. I just got kne nad the etrnal quality is really good. The handguard was nicely finished. Good barel and buckinh will throw .4's and eith the correct barrelmlength, thebpower will creep a little bit. Als if evike did a kac sr25 with cyma id be down but of coursei dont see that happening and indont need another sr25. Of course you still wan a good nozzle and a perun but all that can wait.
I know what u mean with G&G I never liked them but I recently bought the ARP 556 and can honestly say it works really good isn't twangy and is consistent at 343 fps has decent range and accuracy for a gun with 120mm barrel shooting .30g the only thing that spun me is I extended the inner barrel to 220mm and put suppressor on it to try it out but it shoots 2 bbs at 345fps then 1 at 415 fps why is that lol
The bucking lip probably bent inwards each shot that's kinda common after installing a new barrel as the bucking can be off abit and it will do that. Just realine ut

Normal sized cylinder in a 'DMR' platform is piss poor. I've never been particularly impressed G&G, just a shame a few guns are only made by them.
It's possible & does work, but not so well with that hop unit & nozzle...
@@NegativeAirsoftTech Yeah, but the premium they charge over DMR platforms that have the proper 2.5 gearbox is daft!
Normal cylinder is fine for barrels up to around 520mm (I haven't don't the volume ratios for a while). If you want to use .3+ rounds you're probably going to find the ratios unfavorable past 455mm.

I own a G&G SR15, and it sounds as bad as that thing... I have some concerns since the gearbox already cracked once, straight out of the box, and the gun had so many good reviews.

New Cyma AR10 variants are better than all of AEG sr25 replicas so far.
people go for the G&G DMR because they believe its a good base platform to build on and its cheap. I almost bought one myself, but after holding it I didnt like it. It was just a gut feeling i got.

I don't think it does... I tried once but I can't recall if I needed to mod the casing etc.

G&G has some good series, just not the cheap ones.
The v2.5 gearbox is better than the v2 for the SR25, but Classic Army and A&K are both made in Mainland China with extremely low QC.
Yet work far better than both the Ares & the G&G...
I find the CYMA platinum m4 to actually be a really good gun. It’s even better with a Titan lol
