    For anyone watching and needing to redo your headliner, disconnect the battery when messing around the airbags

    FYI... where you pull down the visor after removing the screw there is a connector wrapped in foam. You need to pull down a little to reach it. You dont need to rip the two wires out.

    As you read these comments , some of them are epic, seems like they wanna have a mk4 but dont take the time to learn about your car before asking these ridiculous questions lmao. keep up the good work ammo , its fun watching the vids and very helpful. Im doing my pilars and liner tomorrow with your help thanks

    A little advice for everyone if you want to wrap your pillars in leather like I did it is very hard and time consuming took me about an hour and a half per pillar because the leather lets you see all wrinkles and imperfections. I finally got it looking good by ironing all the creases out.

    The visor has a clip where the cord disconnects without having to rip out the wire

    don't remove it through the trunk! creases in the headliner matter, lower the front seat down all the way and angle it out the back door!! and you can re install it that way too

    Okay guys i just did this today to my vw jetta 2002 without a sunroof. It was the same set up. The cloth on my headliner was falling off so i followed this video. You dont really have to twist the "bitch" clip you have to push it up and the pillars will unlatch. Now what i did i didnt mess with the middle pillars at all only the front and back. Once i got to the visors i accidentally tore off one of the connections from the drivers side (the part that you use a needle nose plyer on). So once i put it all back together the light from that visor wouldnt turn on because of the bad connection. The other side worked fine.one thing they sorta mention is those back lights. Once the headliner is down those lights are easy to come off. After putting the headliner back into the car i couldnt put those "bitch" clips back into place so i didnt put them back. Headliner looks better now and all i have to do is fix that visor connection. And like these guys said on their video. They didnt know what they were doing but they got it done so to me thats a win win. Hope this helps some of you all just becareful with those visors.

    It’s easier taking the headliner out the rear drivers side door. Recline front seats, drop headliner turn toward front passenger/rear driver passenger, turn on edge and work it out. Takes one person. Reverse to go back in.

    For scraping off the old foam backing; Semco sealant scrapers. They can be sharpened for removing the residual foam. Much better than metal scrapers that will easily damage the headliner.

    Remove the rear seat belts BEFORE removing the deck lid, there is a metal spacer, that if you’re like me and didn’t know about it, will drop it into the space between the fabric and your trunk liner. I did that about 5 minutes ago and am trying to figure out if I can get it out without taking ALL of that apart too

    Hi, this may sound like a dumb question but I know that 1999.5 to 2002 Jetta side airbags were in option. I got a 2001 1.8t and I'm planning on removing the headliner this summer. The question is: If there is no Airbags label on my pillars, does it means I have no airbags in there?

    Although I do appreciate the fact that these guys were willing to record and share their experience, there are a couple things missing. (This is not a remark towards the video as much as advice for future diy people)
    The sun visors will (if they are wired to light source) have a clip that youll need to snap off. Do Not pull out the wires. Youll find the clip once you unbuckle the sun visor and look under the headliner.

    Bro I know this a completely different topic than this video post. However, 3rd and reverse gears in my 01 1.8t vw mk4 are grinding. Is it because of the cheap ebay XTM clutch that was installed? Or a more serious problem?

I told the new owner It's been replaced but never heard it do that before on any car. it now works again but for how long? I don't know. Maybe a throw out bearing ?? :) K2 style

      You will definitely need to remove the back pillars thats for sure. The middle ones would also facilitate the headliners removal. In all honesty, its pretty simple to remove and install the pillars, you shouldn't worry.

    • @kuperdo
      @kuperdo Před 4 lety

      You really only need to remove the A-pillars. Once they are out you can easily use a pry tool carefully to remove headliner from around B-pillars then slide headliner forward to free from C-pillar trim panels. Remove headliner from car thru the passenger rear door with rear bottom seat removed and passenger front seat all the way back and reclined fully. Passenger side of headliner will slide out between seat and B-pillar while you may need to lightly taco the board to remove. If its hard you are doing something wrong.
