- A new champion was crowned on Saturday night as NJ/NY Gotham FC earned a NWSL Championship trophy following a worst-to-first campaign from last year to now. Gotham produced a 2-1 win as it relied on goals from forwards Lynn Williams and Esther González to best a Reign side that got on the scoresheet via midfielder Rose Lavelle in the first half.
Ali Krieger is a legend. Congrats to her and Gotham FC
Such an amazing and crazy game. Congrats Gotham!!!!!!
Let's goooooooo! From worst to first! 🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇
😂
Rose is an Artist 🎨 👏🏾
Amazing how Nealy Martin played more minutes as a goalkeeper in an NWSL final than Ashlyn Harris.
The way I choked on my own spit 😅
Shut up and take my like
😂 this comment wins life😅
I don't have a NWSL club that I support but I wanted Gothem to win because I like Spain's women's national team and Esther plays for them. I'm happy Gothem won it this year. Congrats!
....and Esther`s gol in this game WAS brilliant.
Esther has been such a great addition to not only Gotham FC but the league.
rose lavelle is world class i dont understand how she is still so underrated
She is a lot better than that lesbian.
Les is hot, and you are a loser@@user-cx6br7tv8e
That shot by Esther Gonzalez was awesome! 👍👍 Was really surprised how well FC Gotham played, although in the last couple games I`d seen `em play, it looked like they had really been practicing.
Was a decent header but nowhere near ‘right in the corner’ like the commentators suggested
I was there for Rose and she delivered, almost won the game all by herself, she is a legend.
What a crazy, exciting game
I can’t wait to hear Snacks this week! Go Gotham! Go Lynn Williams!
Una granadina, Esther, ganando la liga femenina de EEUU,un orgullo para todos los granadinos.
This is a game that points out how good Women's soccer can be.
Honestly, the level of the game was amazing!!! Congratulation girls, i was waiting for such a long time for this!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏
Ali Krieger - absolute class ❤
Go NJ/NY Gotham! Watching in the UK.❤
Midge is so good!!!!
Felicidades al Gotham, aunque una pena por Rose Lavelle, tremenda futbolista que es🙌
Felicidades, extrañare a Ali en el campo, toda una leyenda de fut femenino

I’m surprised let’s go Gotham 🏆
Got Bats!! 🦇 🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇
Wow awesome first goal lo mejor de futbolista
Batman should be proud of his home team.
Very Good 👍.
🏆
Selamat gothammmm, selamat Aliiio
🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇
On the free kick, I feel like Rose should’ve passed the ball to her teammates on the right side. They were wide open! 😭 Am I trippin??
As a left footer her back was turned and she didn’t see them
Nothing about the "WINNER" goal scorer's beautiful header!?Ester Gonzales was everywhere and not even a hug from the Boss!
Spanish bosses can be like that.
Do you want another Rubiale's case or what?
Talking about NWSL Commissioner whille handing hanging the medals around the neck! She was really hugging some but not the real WINNER (For some)Clear now??Sorry for misunderstanding!
🥳🥳🥳❤🔥
Dude both teams play with a defense line so up Field
BWAHAHAHHA megan 😂😂😂 poetic
Great goal by Lynn Williams. Gotham deserved this one. Can't say I'll miss Rapino. She's just annoying here lately.
最後のGKワロタ😂
Why Americans have no idea how to edit soccer highlights? 10 seconds for the goal action, 15 seconds for a chance, and 30 seconds replaying the same goal/chance!
Put more time how the goal action started, let us enjoy celebration, no need for replaying three times the same action, we have "back" button if we want to!
it’s called football
Ironically, Meghan Rapinoe's stellar career had an ignominious end, with being injured "off the ball" through a misstep, and to be helped off the field. I am sure she would have hoped for a different ending.
Her pathetic legacy is laughing at choking at the WC and getting hurt walking on grass, 🤣😂
Only in American sports you can finish bottom of the table one season and win the championship the next one. Not saying it like a good thing though. But hats off to the players and coach of Gotham FC: the Spaniards raised their level but all of them have been awesome. Congrats!
Makes it more exciting. European leagues are often much more predictable due to promotion/relegation.
@@landryharrell7 Promotion/relegation is good, the problem with leagues around the world and most evident in Europe is that money is what makes a huge difference, a richer team will dominate, and when more dominanta team is it becomes more "successful" and trheir dominance becomes even bigger, so you have the Spanish league dominated by Barcelona in a obscene ridiculous and boring way, to the point they had 100 consecutive wins, or in France the way Olympique Lyon had been dominating it to the point that before the Pandemic it hasn't lost a match against PSG in 3 years and had been 10 years sinc they lost a match against any other French team. Or in men's games the example of Manchester City, it was a average team in England rarely able to stay longer than 2 consecutive season in the Premier League, but as soon it was bought by what became the City Group with huge amounts of oil money they were able to buy success and become a dominant team.
Bye bye, toxic Megan
rent free in
Rapinoe getting injured at the start of the game is the best moment in the whole season
Rapinoe? Is that the one who demands the same pay as men, but was allowed to knock on wood during Corona so that she continued to be paid while the men went away empty-handed? Or was that the one who kept quiet about the fact that the women's soccer players were offered the same conditions as the men, with the potential for significantly more salary, but also more risk if they don't perform? Or was that the one that said they were playing at the same level as the men and was then torn apart by a youth team? But clearly she is a better person! Although a better person doesn't have to emphasize this to the outside world! No loss for the sports world
Na na na na
Heeey heeey
Good bye
Imagine if OL Reign equalized on the free kick they got after Gotham's goalie got a red card and an outfield player had to step in... I am very sure OL Reign would trash them with at least seven goals by taking a series of long shots!! :D
Hello NWSL! I am not that really into soccer, but I follow it every once in a while. If I was a diehard fan of you, as a Connecticut resident, I would be a huge fan of NJ/NY Gotham FC, as I love New York sports teams! With you guys expanding even further with Bay FC and the Utah Royals, I think it’s about time that you try to become just about as big as MLS in terms of how many teams there are. So with that being said, this is my suggestion on different cities you could consider expanding to in the future should you get the chance!
Somewhere in Alabama.
Somewhere in Massachusetts.
Columbus OH at Historic Crew Stadium the stadium in which Columbus Crew plays in.
Commerce City CO at the stadium in which MLS’s Colorado Rapids FC plays in.
Bridgeport CT at that proposed soccer stadium on the city’s East Side.
Frisco TX at Toyota Stadium, the stadium in which FC Dallas plays in.
Somewhere in the Baltimore MD area.
Saint Paul MN at Allianz Field, the stadium in which Minnesota United FC plays in.
Atlanta GA at Mercedes Benz Stadium, the stadium in which Atlanta United FC plays in.
Fort Lauderdale FL at DRV PNK Stadium, the stadium in which Inter Miami CF plays in.
Somewhere in the New Orleans LA area.
Chester PA at Subaru Park, the stadium in which Philadelphia Union plays in.
Somewhere in the Pittsburgh PA area.
Somewhere in the San Antonio TX area.
Somewhere in the Jacksonville FL area.
Somewhere in Wisconsin.
It may take time, but at least the grow of the NWSL is becoming clear, with new teams build in a solid way as opposed to teams held with a shoestring and a bit of tape as was Boston Breakers that had an ownership that didn't care or was completely clueless, or what was Gotham FC a few years ago (Sky Blue by then) when the owners barely cared for the team. The new team owners show they have some solid plans, we can discuss and compare different strategies as what path is better, the San Diego strategy of building a competitive team from the go being able to qualify for the playoff on their 1st year was impressive and winning the shield on their 2nd year is proving they were right, also being the team with better attendance numbers, or the Angel City way they went for as many big and populer names they could, got a good team (not as good as SDW, but still good enough) also got great numbers of fans on home matches.
So if the league can continue adding around 2 teams every 2 years as long there are solid potential owners in areas with potential good numbers of supporters would be great. This year Bay FC and Utah Royals FC will join the league, in 2026 it will be the turn for a new team in Boston and another team not yet defined, I may not be surprised if by 2025 we get news about potential teams that may join in 2028.
BIG payday for Gotham!
Nice Wonger if you can get it.!
Geddit?
(See what I did there?)
