    If you've ever wondered what happens once you've decided to buy a home organ from a major manufacturer, watch this guide! I cover everything from delivery to installation inside. This Cambiare 323 was purchased from Content Organs via Verdin Organs (US dealer) in April 2020, and was delivered in August 2020. It was custom-made based on one of the company's popular Hauptwerk designs.
    Leave a question in the comments if I forgot to cover anything!
    The next video in this series will cover specifications, power/MIDI connections, as well as how to get the instrument set up in Hauptwerk. Be sure to subscribe and click the notification bell to see the next episode when it's ready!

Since you mentioned interest in hammonds, I have experience with a few midi plug ins but in my opinion one of the best sounding ones is called Hammond B3X which was made in partnership with Hammond. I think it’s more costly but you should give it a listen. Sounds “real” to my ears! It also includes what I consider to be the best sounding Leslie rotary speaker simulator. Cheers. @@dfuhrman My only hesitation with the iPad version (and this could be purely user error due to admitted lack of knowledge around midi stuff) (I’m a midi basic) I had a hard time understanding how to bind my midi keyboard to functions within the iOS app which I own. I don’t think I ever tried it with pedals but I would imagine it could work because the pedals drawbars are able to be adjusted. Also, when I tried using the Hammond b3x plugin (from my iOS app) within garage band it would often crash or cause extreme slowness which was infuriating). Sorry for a long comment lol I feel like this is good info tho. I only use my iOS app to jam pretty much (it sounds good when jamming with buddies at home) I don’t use it for recording because I’ve just had trouble with it. The app does not include an onboard recording feature to my knowledge. It was nice chatting. Take care!

      @dfuhrman  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for watching, and for the comment. I actually do have a pair of touchscreens, but those didn't make it into the video until part 2. Mine are 11" diagonal, which sounds small, but looks good for most sample sets. As I've had this setup for a while, I actually find that I prefer having only a single touchscreen on my left side. I wish every sample set had the clean Simple Jamb that's available with many of the Sonus Paradisi sets, as I use that view almost exclusively, if available.
      As the 11" screen is sort of small, I'm considering upgrading to one about 17", just so it's not too overbearing on my simplified console.
      Take care!

    • @jismo7
      @jismo7 Před 3 lety

      @@dfuhrman Yes, the portrait stop jams are only on a few English organs anyway so the square type are perfectly fine. I live in England so portrait seemed more appropriate to me. I have added a 3rd monitor to display the console view or pdf music. I need some kind of midi trigger to turn pages though as the focus moves from centre screen if I touch a stop.

    • @dfuhrman
      @dfuhrman  Před 3 lety

      @@jismo7 I understand. Most of the time, I read my music from an iPad Pro 12.9" using Forscore. You can touch the screen to turn the pages, but I also have an AirTurn Bluetooth pedal if my hands are busy. I've even used that pedal and iPad combo on other organs before, and just stuck the pedal near the swell shoes with a c-clamp! The pedal can be configured to send computer keystrokes, so it might be a good route to try for most PDF readers on your computer. Otherwise, you could just put a small computer keyboard on your music rack, or somewhere else accessible. Vidas Pinkevicius has a video on using a single Bluetooth button called a Flic that might also work for this. Good luck! czcams.com/video/zfo2-bo9LDo/video.html

    I am buying the same Content Organ Midi Console you did. In fact your video was my first look at this particular console/model. Your video is interesting and informative. The console I am buying has 4 manuals.
    *I too will be moving my console of nearly the exact dimensions of yours thru a narrow space. You indicated in this video that you removed the music rack in order that the console fit into the room. From your video, I can see two screws securing the top portion of the back wood piece that the music rack is fixed on. How else is that piece of wood that covers the top and back of the keyboards attached? Adhesive? Other screws out of plain sight? It would be very helpful to know. Thank you.*

    • @dfuhrman
      @dfuhrman  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey there, and thanks for the comment. To get the music rack off, I actually had to take off the shell underneath it that sits on top of the key cheeks. For this model, that meant taking off the back cover to find the 3 screws which hold that enclosure on. The music rack and the manual enclosure are glued together, so you have to be careful. The two screws on the top you mentioned secure the top board to the highest set of key cheeks, but the three others are hidden underneath along the bottom edge.
      Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll be happy to let tell you anything else about my experience.

      Very helpful. I noticed the screws in your video on the top of the panel you mention. I figured there might be screws out of sight under the desk that secure the bottom portion. Did you use anything to loosen the grip of the adhesive? Is the adhesive strong? And, once you put the back panel on, did you apply some kind of adhesive or did you find it was not necessary? Maybe the adhesive is to further secure that back panel as well as to make it airtight to protect the inner workings of the keyboards from accumulation of dust over time. Your thoughts?

    • @Engineer9736
      @Engineer9736 Před 2 lety

      @@jmb2176 I think you are not intended to break any glued joints. You just have to undo 2 screws on the top, and 3 screws inside the back of the organ, then you can lift the music rack + backplate together off. The music rack and backplate are glued together which you have to remove as a whole. If you break it then you'll have ruined your 9000$ organ 🙂. I have the same organ with 4 manuals (i never removed the music rack yet though). Good luck 😀

I have the same console, but one of the manuals has a 1mm gap between the underside of the keys and the wooden slat which runs in front of it. So you look into a dark gap at that manual.. I tried to contact Content already but it doesn’t seem to be important enough for them to respond; i guess they have my money in the bank already.

    • @dfuhrman
      @dfuhrman  Před 2 lety +1

      I think you may be able to fix your problem. However, please don't do anything that will render your organ inoperable or void any warranty you may have. This is only my opinion, not professional advice. I was able to open mine up and take some pictures. There may be some wiggle room, but it would involve adjusting some of the plastic or aluminum brackets, either by adjusting the screws or removing material with a Dremel. Hard to say without seeing your exact situation. Content has been very responsive to me with customer service requests, so maybe just wait a little longer for a reply from Gerwin. If you remove any material, do tiny adjustments and check your work. You can always take away more, but you won't be able to add it back. photos.app.goo.gl/Yshriy6M8pU3twgX6

      @Engineer9736 Před 2 lety

      @@dfuhrman Thank you so much for the pictures and the information! I see there are quite a lot of brackets and screws attached to the manuals, so that will need a lot of tweaking to get anything moving. But it looks like the manuals are 'hanging' on the key cheeks, not resting on them, and that manual has to move a tiny bit lower, so maybe if i release the screws a tiny bit and put a thin washer in between that it will correct it. It's an expensive gamble indeed... maybe i better try contacting Content once more.

    I guess I am missing something. How is this an organ? There is nothing inside. It's some keyboards, a big cabinet, pedals and some switches. I have a few basic keyboards that I use to go into my audio workstation, but they are not organs, they are keyboards. I am not knocking this piece of equipment and I see where it fits in the marketplace, but why is it called an organ? It produces no sound.

      It’s a midi console. Adding a PC with Hauptwerk makes it an organ. Or you could even hook up and actual windchest with pipes on it 😎

      This makes up the most physically representative part of a virtual pipe organ (VPO) to most people, so I think that's why it's commonly just called an organ. You're correct that it's nothing more than a few MIDI keyboards with pedals, but the way they're laid out is conducive to making you brain think you're playing at a real organ console. There is some smoke and mirrors that has to be added with sample sets and speakers or headphones. Once that's done, it's easy to feel like you're in another place. Thanks for the comment.

    Please, Andrew, Sir, tell me the name of the organ piece played at the termination of this episode, from 8:36 onwards
    ? I have had that melody in my head ever since school days 55 years ago, and always wondered what it was called!! Please don't ignore me - please send me the name if you like by direct email to zs1dfr@gmail.com and I will be eternally grateful! Kind regards, Dave. I have been enthralled by rich and solemn organ music since my school days and the remarkable talent of the organist at the secondary school I attended...

      Dave, thanks for watching! The piece you asked about is called "Elegy" by George Thalben-Ball.

      Correct. Everything was manufactured and packed from the Netherlands, including the custom made electronics boards, I believe. The only imported parts are the Fatar keyboards.
