Have people really ever thought she's portraying anything but an idealised view of country living? If anything she was cottagecore ambassador before the movement even took off! It's beautiful to look at and appreciate the history of the labour, and for me having a production team doesn't take away from the magic, just makes it easier on her. Hoping the best for her and that she can regain the rights to her trademark and make videos again ❤️

@@paddyotterness What I know it existed before, I'm just speaking of her channel in particular in this timeline and how it came before the newest wave of idealizing country living. This genre of aesthetic vlogs isn't to realistically document their living situation but to create a fantasy.
I also don't see how any alternative would work out for her. If she were to film current realities in the countryside, she has great outreach in Chinese social media and something like that could increase criticism of government and have her business snuffed out at the least, or land her in jail.
I know plenty well CCP is terrible at treatment of their peoples, but I doubt the main actors have time to worry about funding youtubers, no matter how fitting as propaganda it may be. A thing with communism is that everything on the top level is related to the government control somehow, no matter who funded her would somehow be tied back to that (monetized in weibo or youku - > media controlled by government censorship bodies).
I'm sorry this turned terribly long, I just don't think Li Qizi is to be villanized in this matter 😊

@@paddyotterness Why is it that these kind of videos in other countries are taken at face value (just vloggers doing their thing for business reasons), but in China they are automatically considered to be propaganda? She was showcasing ancient Chinese farming, food preparation and cultural practices in a beautiful and inspiring way. Of course the CCP will approve and support her. It's a shame people would rather expect a scheme than seeing her as an honest worker, taking advantage of the internet's vast reach as an education system (making money probably didn't hurt, either).

There are still plenty of people farming with her outdated methods and lack of modern equipment but they genuinely live in poverty.

Unless there's an interview I missed, she never wanted to sell the lifestyle. She just wanted to teach people where their food comes from, why farmers are important, and- maybe- why an open life like hers is preferred to a city life. I know I'd rather be poor in the woods than poor in a dirty cage apartment.
It isn't fair people are 'blaming her' or 'crediting her' with people moving out- I think she was the final push for some. City life is exhausting, house prices are worsening by the year, and the air itself is getting deadlier every year.

Of course she's not making all the content herself, she never even claimed to, and it takes about two brain cells to understand that yourself when you watch even one of her videos. What's wrong about making aesthetic videos about farm living? She genuinely has all the skills portrayed in the videos, and the filmography is actual art. People don't watch her videos because they want to get educated on real life in Chinese rural lands, they watch them because they are peaceful, artistic. Just because she decides to 'wrap' her videos up beautifully doesn't mean she's trying to harm/harming any struggling farmers in China (by not shedding light on them). It's not her job. She started making videos because she wanted to, she can decide what goes in them and what doesn't. She's one woman. Stop trying to put the burden of solving a problem with Chinese poverty on her shoulders, she didn't create the problem, she even lived that reality for most of her life. In my head, I know that her bountiful garden did not just spring to life from the earth with no effort on her part, but it certainly looks like it did. Just like I know that a farmer isn't doing daily labor in hand dyed lavender silk gowns that flow down to the ground, or wearing billowing dresses to harvest lotus pods. At one point, the tagline was "Liziqi A Fairy"...so no, I never in my life imagined that her daily life looked anything like the videos. And you can track her growing production team by the quality of her videos. As her popularity grew, the production quality improved & you could tell that even her method of filming had gotten better. Never once did I see this as "oh, well this is daily life in rural China & they all live like this, with walled gardens & gorgeous hand made clothing in silk with elaborate embroidery. " What rational person would? If I told you I live in the mountains of Appalachia, what would you expect the videos to look like, if I were to adopt her route? If I showed traditional Appalachian farming, complete with a rustic log cabin & sweeping panoramic shots of the Blue Ridge mountains, and me making traditional Appalachian crafts , would you just enjoy the fantasy, or would you be cynically commenting on the proliferation of meth labs, poor education & poverty that are also traditionally Appalachian?
To me, it feel like she grew a brand that surprised everybody with it's appeal & popularity & the Chinese government just sort of latched on to her coattails for the ride.

Sad, but that's how it goes in china. You can't get too big without the govt stepping in and
" helping you out" so to speak. They have to give her permission to " go higher and further". It's almost the same system in USA only in reverse. You get a really good business going here, then you submit to the govt. So in a way she did thank them for everything, she just needs to clip the past and start again. People don’t watch her to become farmers not is she’s claiming to be a farmer. She’s trying her skills in everything to know and show the world how it’s done if someone has a will. Of course everyone knows farmer’s life isn’t glamorous, but I who grow my own vegetables know it’s hard work but it still is worth it. And my grandparents who used to do it because they had small land. They grew some veggies and raised some animals because they had free time on their hands after work and they did for sustainable living. People at that time liked saving money and using their own talent to work hard to get something instead of spending money. It can still be hobby that gives you pleasure, whatever it is, painting, sewing, gardening, cooking those are all hobbies. And people saying, “ it’s not reality, it’s because of camera angles, lighting and editing” don’t know how they look when they are gardening. Sometimes beauty can’t be captured with cameras too. Like how you take selfies and don’t look pretty even though you look pretty in mirror to yourself. You can’t capture how you look amazing when you’re passionate or laughing or in love. Point is, yes camera and editing might make it look pretty sometimes but it actually is beautiful and peaceful if you love something. I hope with all her hard work she can bring prosperity to her city. Hopefully she will not be used by government when they need her but also become the voice of her people. No matter what the results are of the lawsuit, they should know karma is a B***ch, it always come back.

A lot of people don't seem to get that this is not an all or nothing situation. There are layers of nuance here, so it is both true that she does the work herself and true that she has a team who helps her and the government supports her.
I fully believe she started by herself and that she does most of the work. Looking at her work you can see that certain tasks she has an easy familiarity with, enough so that the action has become graceful. Other things she's clearly new at and trying for the sake of a video - she probably doesn't do them often.
No matter how valuable her videos are I doubt the Chinese government is going to do them for her, so they probably just lean on her and her company to meet certain standards.
In a country like hers, it honestly doesn't matter what she feels about the politics going on, it's in her best interests and the interests of everyone she knows, to keep her head down and be obedient. Since they're not asking her to do anything obviously harmful, she's probably just fine doing so.
It's not up to her if the ccp thinks her videos are great for their agenda. No one could have known they'd be so popular, so I imagine the idea really was hers.
Now that they are big she's a single, second-class, unmarried young lady trying to keep control away from big corporations and her own government.
Obviously she's going to struggle. She was never prepared for a this. She's doing the best she can.
As to whether she's lying to people, yes and no. If you're gullible enough to believe that all of China looks exactly like her house, and that her dreamy, well-shot videos are exactly what things look like everywhere, then sure.
But most reasonable people understand what creators do to shoot videos. They choose the best angles and shots, stage them, and make sure the final product looks good.
For example, she owns at least 1 tv and a computer. I've seen them in her own videos, in split second shots or bts.
Naturally, she makes sure that the TV and computer aren't in most of the videos because they don't fit the anesthetic. But logic tells you they have to be there. She edits the videos somehow.
Is that a lie? Not really. It's common sense. If I was shooting cottage ore videos, I'd clean my room and hide the electronics too.
Mostly I hope li ziqi can win her lawsuit and go back to doing what she loves. It seems like she really has plans to help her neighbors and her family and, I understand that entirely. I hope it works out for her - I love her videos. So much effort and hard work!

It's entertainment, it's a performance that's a mixture of cinematic and hard physical work. But all these haters are dissing her for apperently not living life up there in the mountains 24/7 and seclude herself and that's what I find ridiculous , them mixing up reality vs the performance. Most people who idealise farm life have never worked on a farm. Honest accounts show that it can certainly be good, but the work is long and hard. Li Ziqi certainly has worked hard, but what she shows isn't commercial rural life. The type of farming needed to support a large urban population is far different. I guess an argument might be that mass industrialisation and commercialism aren't necessary, that populations can be sustained in a mainly agrarian culture. Strictly speaking, this may be true, but I wonder if proponents of such views have considered how much industrial capacity is needed to provide a regular supply of the tools, vehicles and other products even agrarian people need. More fundamentally, though, such idealism ignores the fact that not all will be on board.

Most of the farmers and fisherman I know live like any other investor: in debt, and constantly trying to leverage what they have.

It is unfortunate that her videos are being used as propaganda to give a false image of China's rural life, but at the same time, I'm hoping they will serve to motivate the CCP themselves to help improve and revitalize rural areas in China. Creating rural tourism like the Yuan Jia Cun Village might be one way to go about it. I would personally be very interested as a tourist to buy items that were hand-made the traditional way like those that she shows in her videos. And also eat the various dishes that she cooked up made from locally grown ingredients. Maybe even take classes like learning to make wooden movable-type printing that she mentioned.

@@solarydays Did I say that I think they will be influenced by Liziqi? No. I said "hoping". An improvement in rural regions can help make China look better to the world, which is good news for the CCP. And if things improve for the citizens, they'll be less likely to rebel or cause disturbances - "stability" makes the CCP happy. Moreover, there's money to be made and that could help improve the economy. All in all, it could be beneficial for the CCP, so it would make sense for them to be motivated to invest in revitalizing rural areas. Now whether or not its potential benefits are great enough for the CCP to bother to do anything is another question.
The CCP isn't made up of a bunch of insane people who gets pleasure out of being destructive. They don't randomly put people in concentration camps, harvest organs, threaten Taiwan etc., for no reason. If something was beneficial to the party, they will allow it, even help foster and/or protect it. Sometimes, they will even go to lengths to capture/hold captive of it (in a way, you can think of Tibet and Taiwan as such instances). If they think something poses a threat to the party, they will try to fix it by attempting to placate the source, or by silencing them, or by punishing them, etc. Their methods could get rather ruthless and extreme, which could seem like they stem from sheer madness, but they are not. Their actions are well calculated, always balancing the pros and cons of how they will affect the party and the maintenance of the autocratic regime (which holds priority over everything else).
Liziqi, just one village girl and her dream of what rural life in China could be like, has already managed to garner so much attention nation wide as well as internationally - enough to catch the interest of the CCP to use her as propaganda. I'd say she already has a little influence on those in power, don't you? As I see it, helping to realize her dream to some extent is inline with the CCP's own interest, so it's very much a possibility. Again, I personally do hope that her work will serve to motivate the CCP to help improve and revitalize rural areas in China. In this particular case, the CCP acting to reap the benefits for their own selfish gain can potentially also benefit those who are most vulnerable.

When I first watched her video, the first thing I noticed was how blessed her village.
Crystal clear water, unpoluted land, morning mist providing humidity to grow plants, etc. It shows that her village must be quite far away from any big city; which means high chance they're *forced* to have a self-sufficient livelihood.
That's why imo it's just plain weird if some people suddenly think such lifestyle is easy. No, *it's never easy to live self-sufficiently* . It's basically a life where money barely circulates, where the majority of your needs are procured from the nature instead of your wallet. No money means no internet, so your smartphone, laptop, TV, modern gadgets, or even electricity basically lost their values. No entertainment, living in an enclosed world far from the modern society. That's what it means to live self-sufficiently in rural area.
Is it possible to live like her? Yes, but are you willing to pay for the price? Not to mention you need to find area with abundant resources like the one in her video. Forest area where you can forage for food, water source, and enough farmland to plant crops.
So it's not really impossible, it's just difficult to aim for.
And that's why technically she hasn't lied, because she actually exposes everything on her videos… well, only if you observe her properly instead of too busy blindfolding yourself with your majestic ‘rural village’ delusion.

And no it's not as hard as you make it seem aslong as you educate yourself enough to sustain yourself in the enviroment. And that also highly means you have parrents who arent self sustaining which also means they cannot pass onto you the knowledge and resources instead you have to make it yourself.(which would be what you'd be learning 100 years ago as you grew up on the country side)
And no the livehood is easy, and it's easy because you spend majority of your day just on sustaining yourself and can be drought down to 4-5 hours a day instead of being lazy or just working in a specifc division. There are multiple videos on youtube even with people doing this along with stories you can read about who did this.

Have you never heard a youtuber talking about how CZcams policies have forced them to change how they make videos to receive ad revenue? Same thing here they want partnerships and sales so they have to be brand friendly in CHINA.

I really love all her videos. We are all aware that all Li's videos are too ideal and borderline in fantasy. But let's not deny the fact that all her works inspired us. Most of her viewers probably tried to start their own backyard farming.
She may romanticized a lot about farm life or rural life, but it's possible. We can possibly live a life just like the way she's showing. It may take a lot of hard-work, but IT's NOT IMPOSSIBLE. And that's what I learned from her videos.
And as one of culture and heritage lovers and a tourism industry worker, I really enjoyed everything I watched and learned from her videos. The preservation of our tangible heritage, the appreciation of our environment and the love of simple life away from the stress and hustle of city life. Her videos are refreshing and soothing.

Once, I was so amazed by the beauty of the rural scenery depicted in LZQ's video, that I asked in the comment section of one of LZQ' early YT video (when she wasn't so popular yet), if it was her real home: because it looks nothing at all like my family home in a rural town of China. A lot of people liked my comment, so I think I wasn't the only one being curious. But quite a few people also answer me back that this is a real chinese rural scenery, that all is real; the underlying meaning of their answer is I don't know anything of china rural life and I shouldn't criticized LZQ's work...I only ask it out of curiosity because of the disparity between what was being filmed and what I know of China rural scenery, without ill intent, I also am LZQ's fan... Since then I don't dare to comment to much on her chanel...
It is not suprising the CCP is interested in her work, they love every thing that give "them" a good "face" (aka reputation). Just look at the documentaries they filmed for their state owned media, where poor peasants and minorities look happy working together in their traditional clothes, all smiling. Then we all know what really happened to one of the minorities... 🤐

Personally I think she has fully earned every success and I hope her legal woes can be resolved to her advantage.
The fact that China may have sought to use the face of a popular personality to promote a national identity and culture is nothing unique to China, so I don't see the problem.
People understand any country experiences many ills and injustices, despite there being individual personalities which appear to rise above the mud and drudgery of everyday and inspire us all anyhow.

She runs a homestead, not a farm... I don't think she even said that she runs a farm so where did you get that from is beyond me; probably from those rolls of rice paddies. Also, she posted like a video a month. Do you really think that it is impossible to make 49 of those wooden pieces in a month? By the pure speed, she was making them at, I assume she can make them in a week so she has 3 weeks for other stuff. I actually watched one of her interviews a few months ago and there are 2 of them. She started alone and after a while hired a guy for camera work and some editing because it took too much time from her, to think about new ideas and keep the quality at a high level. Most things she posts are not even that time consuming considering she plants a few plants and not thousands like a farmer. Sorry mate, but from all the things she does wrong(and there are a lot) you could mention you decided to mention something that takes common sense to debunk... Countless homestead owners on CZcams do more than her and post video's every week... The only difference is that the quality is worse than hers.

@@spardasquadspqr3535 Why would I confront someone on something he is 100% correct about? She is getting help recording and editing... In her very early video's the quality was very similar so no she did not need more people apparently; it did help with her posting more video's. She got help to keep the quality at that level and not because the quality was bad. Go and watch a few of her first video's; they are shorter but the quality is very similar. Just because you do not believe that such quality can be achieved by one person is laughable considering that many CZcamsrs have achieved a great quality of video's and are alone. Many tech CZcamsrs are still alone at their studio's and have an even better quality video's. I am sorry but you are talking out of your ass right now.
I am certainly not blindfolded by her because I stopped watching her video's after it became apparent that she is glorifying lifestyle for farmers in China while their farms are being drowned by expelling water from 3 gorges dam or their land (that generations of their families have lived on) gets forceful taken from them to build apartments. They are getting shafted by CCP for 70 years now(2 classes of citizens that are being mentioned in the video) and she makes it seem like living in rural China is actually such a nice and easy lifestyle in the beautiful countryside while a lot of it is a literal shithole no one wants to live in. That is the worst part about her whole channel and why the FDK got confused that she is a farmer. She tries to show stuff that is 100% false and as time went on it got worse. I am just criticizing someone who probably did not even watch her video's(similar to you) and is talking out of his ass. If you watched her video's the simple facts I stated should have been known to you so I am pretty sure that you saw a video in passing but never really watched more of them...

Its like reading a poem. Its a beautiful, graceful snap shot of a moment in life, minus the mosquitos, the back ache, the calluses, the rock in your shoe, the chilly wind cutting through your clothes, the sweat soaking through your shirt.
I learned i wasn't an outdoorsy person a long time ago, but i still like to fantasize about it sometimes.
This is just like watching a fairytale of farming life. Peace and beauty and simplicity.
