    Thank you, great job, as usual Mo! that is one sick rotor, what is than 1/4 inch thick..love it!!
    I have 2005 fatboy, my brakes suck. the brake bracket is one piece with the axel!

    • @GilstrapGarage
      @GilstrapGarage  Před 2 lety

      Definitely entails a little bit more work. I’m glad they switched over in the later years. I’m not sure exactly how thick that rotor is, but it’s definitely heavy duty! Thanks for watching

    • @GilstrapGarage
      @GilstrapGarage  Před 2 lety +1

      🙌🏻🙌🏻 softails can be a little more involved depending on the year. The rear wheel may have to come off in order to pull the whole bracket off

    Man , I'm switching bars on my Dyna, legend has it you can get slack on the main harness through the fender Access hole, is that just a legend? I can't seem to get my connectors to see daylight haha

    • @GilstrapGarage
      @GilstrapGarage  Před 2 lety

      There’s usually quite a bit of wire stuffed inside the frame that can be pulled up. You can’t get your wires through the bars? Or can’t get them out of the frame?

    • @knothole5
      @knothole5 Před 2 lety

      @@GilstrapGarage can't get them out of the frame, I think there's a fold in there, I'm trying to get the connectors out haha

    • @toolmaker5150
      @toolmaker5150 Před 2 lety +1

      @@knothole5 just did this. There is indeed a service loop tucked in the backbone of the frame just behind the access plate in the rear fender. I removed the rear wheel and fender for much easier access. Tie something to the loop in case you need to pull it back through. The connectors are staggered about where the seat and tank meet. Also there is an access plate on the right side near the steering neck, wires will be zip tied to it. Removing the rear tank bolt gives more room for the connectors passing through.

    • @knothole5
      @knothole5 Před 2 lety

      Thank you everyone, I think I'll unbolt a shock before removing the rear wheel,

    I spray painted my Dyna wheels yesterday and she. Attempting to get the caliper back on I couldn’t get the rear pad to lock in and keeps sliding out. Imma have to try again today

  • @robertcapozzi2934
    @robertcapozzi2934 Před rokem

    The reason you are getting groves a ND squeaks is your aftermarket rotor taller than stock just a little

    • @wlhcrh02

      what about anti-seize or lithium grease on the back of the pad, that shuts everything up

    I finished my pad change but my caliper has a little wobble. Is it supposed to wobble?

    • @GilstrapGarage
      @GilstrapGarage  Před 9 dny

      Is it up and down play? It is supposed to do that a little bit on the “floating” calipers

  • @team_sixthree8956
    @team_sixthree8956 Před rokem +1

    10:07 is that normal for the caliper to have that type of play? Up and down motion? I just did my brake pads I’m getting the same issue everything is torque to spec thanks

    • @GilstrapGarage
      @GilstrapGarage  Před rokem +2

      Yeah a little play is okay because it’s a “floating caliper” but if it seems wildly excessive then your holes may be wallowed out and need to be replaced

      Probably a good idea, I definitely didn’t this time lol. But with the new pads in there, the level would have been a little bit higher than it was when they were worn
