- This video is about restoring your nasty peeling trim that is in your BMW. BMW plastics are coated with a nice rubber coating to make the car feel more luxurious which looks and feels awesome when NEW. However over time this coating starts to peel and crack. Restoring it with LVP is a great way to restore your interior back to NEW.

To Much work.... My wife watched another video and got all the trim out of her E46 M3 and sprayed it with EASY OFF BAM oven cleaner, left it for 10-15mins and scrubbed it off with the kitchen scrub brush..... It came off in sheets and was all done in 5 mins...... Washed with warm soapy water and ready for painting.........
Thanks now i can fix mine the grey peeled all off after washing it thought i had to buy a new one.
Grey Scotch Pad and Brake cleaner works really well. And it won't take off the texture from the plastic, so when you paint, it will still look textured, like when it came from the factory. Sanding like in the video, may take that off
I just tried this and it totally ruined the plastic. I am livid. Please do not use this method.
How did it ruin the plastic?
@@krissyshaw269 mine looks great.
bruh dont listen to this guy LOL
Brakekleen will definitely destroy the plastic. Don't use this method.
Cant wait to see the finished interior
Me either! Only need a couple more things for the swap
Great video Mate, thanks 🙏 very much!
Thanks for the video
I would like a close up with a bit more light please if possible >in future videos 👍🏼
Nice job man, i did myself with gloss black spray, it looks a bit diffrent then other parts later i will do with mat spray
Thank you, this color is definitely the closer thing to factory.
Which color do i order for dove gray? Ordered once but got the wrong shade and since its spray paint no returns🤷🏾♂️
I found that light coats only left the finish gritty and untouchable. I had to buff down the gritty finish with jeans, yes, the kind you wear, then finally load the final coat so the whole part saw shinny wet, but not running. THEN, it dried hard and touchable. I did a video on my experience too.
How do I find my paint code of the interior? what was the first stuff you sprayed on before painting? and the link you have left just takes you to a big list and is not the easiest to follow as u have missed out stages. could u kindly explain or do another video with each stage and not missed bits out. sorry to be a pain
Does anyone know which color is a match for the e90/e82 series rubbery black interior parts? They look like a very dark gray and not black.
Also does this leave rubberized coating like the stock parts? I have a M car which uses rubberized black where most BMWs have fancy trim and the part is no longer available new... Looking for as close to perfect match as possible or I'll need to paint every single part...
What grit sand paper did you use?
You dont need to sand or paint it, just scotchbrite the sticky shit off and wipe with interior plastics detailer and reinstall, looks better than new and you don't ruin rhe plastic underneath
Depending on how much you need to paint, it may be cheaper to replace.
I got the cupholder and coin tray for £50 brand new from BMW. There are Chinese knockoffs for half that too
or just remove the rubber and be done with it...
If you want to replace everything including the center console trim it will cost you much more than 2 spray paint cans. www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-bmw-parts/center-console-schwarz/51168218305/
Like new! Great job!!
Thank you
Soft touch remover or APC would do the trick ;)
What about on the middle of the steering wheel plastic you think it would work also ?
Yes that’s a great idea!!
Nothing wrong with the technique and looks good. But I would of used plastic promoter on plastics prior to paint. This stops it from cracking and peeling off. 👍🏻
Thank you for the tip!!
Does this feel like the paint that was on it from the factory or is it not soft touch? Also, could you use this on your steering wheel trim?
Looks factory but does not have that soft touch feel
@@EvanGoyuk Eh, probably a good thing tbh - probably holds up better
Yes
Found it all on Amazon with free prime shipping
They don’t offer black unfortunately. They have all over colors
Great 👍
All you really need to do is remove the rubber coating, the plastic underneath is fine, and for that you just use the alcohol with some shop towels until they aren't picking up any black residue.
It looks ok with just peeling it off however it looks amazing when refinishing it with paint.
It takes too much time to try to peel off the old rubber paint....trust me i've tried
@@Robert.3Coupe I've done it, my trim looks fine... So not only am I going to not trust you but i'm going to say that you're such a failure that you couldn't even apply alcohol to a rag and wipe something off. lol
Evan Goyuk what do you think about the steering wheel plastic the coating is starting to come off as well
I just tried this. It was miserable. Black gunk everywhere. It felt like it was never going to stop. Done with that method. Now I'm off to sanding. Hopefully the trim paint doesn't scratch as easily as the original coating.
How many cans did you end up using?
1
Which color did you get to match the black trim ? I can't seem to find a "BMW black" one
Bmw black is color code 258
@@EvanGoyuk thanks! unfortunately it's practically impossible to get. I'm in Canada to make things worse. The product is $20, shipping is $40 :(
@@EvanGoyuk You wouldn't happen to have the second can left ? If so, maybe I can buy it from you ?
Unfortunately not it is very expensive
@@EvanGoyuk Ok, if you change your mind and want to get rid of it let me know :)
How is it holding up long term?
Holding up great!
It’s holding up great!
Hmm, I used washing soda (same as the oxyaction stain remover), cleaned all the stickiness away in about 5 minutes and then just rubbed the old rubber away to reveal the textured plastic underneath and treated with trim wax......
Can you give more info on this? I used hot soapy water and it didnt take off nearly as much as I wanted
One light coat and throw the paint to it .
50? How is this any better than regular matte spray paint?
will have to do same to mine, the gray peeled rubber looks awful
It will look amazing after
My gray console peeled all off after washing it i was so annoyed then found this video.
Trying to find BMW Black in the Uk is like trying to find hens teeth
I found the same paint on eBay for £20 in the UK.
Any black paint for plastic will work... no need to get the one used in the video
Good job but didn't need two cans
Yeah I know
Carbon fiber it
No need all that hard work about sanding. The original bmw coat cleans off with warm water, a bit of dishwasher soap and plastic scotchbrite, as the ones used at the kitchen. Peels as easy as butter, no effort, no scratches. After that just 3 coats of Matt black plastidip and ready, as good as new.
That method barely worked for me
Waste of effort i just happened to Leave it in a bath of hot water for 30 mins and that coating that scratches just fell off by gentle abrasion from a tooth brush so anyone b4 you go to all this length of grades of sanding isopropyl etc try this method and let me know
Dude i really need interior like yours , i have gray interior too but mine is cloth and is very dirty it is disgusting , but in my country there is no gray leather interior
I suggest using a hot water extraction machine to clean the seats
@@EvanGoyuk oh woww you replied , i tried using steam and various products , it gets clean for a bit and then when i sit a few times all the dirt goes right back up . Also maybe the cloth looks tired and old , maybe i should be looking for new seats.
Yes, do you have the sport seats?
@@EvanGoyuk no , the regular ones
Tell Evan to sell u his grey interior once he's put in the cinnamon
120 and a electric sander.. You can cut Bondo with 120.WTH. Ignore everything about this video.
