@@johnkramer2896 holding the ball longer than any nfl prospect qb, ever (3.44 and 3.21 seconds avg time to throw) Even worse than fields in college. terrible ball security (31 fumbles). Time to throw leading to pressure and sacks. And also his accuracy and passer ratings charted specifically in the intermediate-deep parts of the field were not strong through his college career.
He’s a great qb prospect, but there is no such thing as a “perfect” prospect. Even the best have red flags. Not a single one is a sure fire thing which is why it is homer-ism and not being objective choosing any rookie who hasn’t played a single snap over a guy who went out of proved to be one of the top 5 rookie qbs we’ve ever seen
@@johnkramer2896 also from a “hero ball” perspective, he is one of the greatest prospects ever. Up there with Mahomes. Thats all great - if you can win from structure within the pocket also. Hero ball and running around til you can make a highlight throw CANNOT be the main part of your game. Notre dame kept Caleb in the pocket and made him beat them from structure - and showed his glaring weaknesses. He would rather scramble and make the amazing plays than win from the systematic structure (remind you of another qb we just let go?)
Williams, at USC, did pass on a lot of open reads to run around and make plays because he was playing pac 12 defenses.. he’s ULTRA talented, but he has to learn to win from the pocket at the nfl level
