I love how Marina created this place to help sanitized octolings get their selves back and return to normal
If and When Splatting 4 comes out I hope they focus on this, could be such a good storyline and opportunity to hear more about the Octolings!

@@patrickkh1245 Sanitization is basically an octoling stripped of their will, they have no signs of life and no memory of who they where. They are basically mind controlled.
Acht is partially sanitised so she still has the tips of her tentacles and fingers pink instead of green like most other sanitized.
Acht is blue because that's what happens to octolings that get sanitized.

That's what I like about Nintendo: They make these games with cute characters and simple concepts, but give those games surprisingly complex backstories. Just look at how complex the backstory of Kirby is.
@@mariotheundyingWell, they've essentially killed the past with Octo expansion and Alterna, so nowhere to go but forward. Personally, I'd have loved more bits with the past stuff as well. I can't complain about this DLC though, it gave me massive NieR vibes.

This explains a LOT, first the book details were cannon, then we have the answer to sanitizing, then we have confirmed that Acht was indeed sanitized, then we have the origins of Marina to complete the backstory of Off the hook and how Marina got famous despite being an octoling, we got more insight on what the goo is, why the blender exists, why is the side order bleached and surrounded by code, why we defeat Marina as the first boss, how there aren't a lot of people yet in the order, what happened to inkopolis square, AGENT 8 return!!!, confirmation that off the hook is going to have a lot of live performances around the world (I might finally be able to go to one myself) and lot more general insight of what Tartar was doing and how, as well as how life was for octolings before we free them (most of them, at least) in the Octo expansion DLC. One answer is still unanswered, who is smollusk? (probably misspelled it) and how did the great turf war actually began?
The great turf war begin because the seas where rasing up, less and less land became habitable, so inkling and octoling fought for what little was left, as for what is smollusk he says he was born from the desire of all of those who desired a world of order, maybe as a side effect of having so many octarian memories stored up, being that they live in a military society order was just formed as a side effect of that

Yeah, but like, how did the teams form, the different legions, why wasn't it like a FFA sort of stuff. As for somlusk, other than the fact that he was born from the desire of order we don't know a lot about him, how did he end up in the Side Order and how did he manage to bend the code of Marina to make himself powerful, it's pretty clear Marina didn't make him, as she could have just deleted him when he was trying to turn them in white statues, that thing must be very good if it managed to hack Marina out of all the Octolings

Also, one more thing, how is Marina able to see that she's in a simulation and be a good hacker at the same time while also not being able to control the things around her, this kinda doesn't make sense
@@Light.-- for somlusk, it might've just gave himself ownership status and revoked marina of that, so marina has to resort to hacking softcoded stuff for having some sort of control, everything else is hardcoded so it might as well not worth to modify, this make sense as the live counter is just a single number being modified in the code, that's it, that's softcoded, the things around her don't have a reason to be hacked tho, even so what is she gonna hack? The code of the object, change the 3d model of the object or just place the object somewhere in the 3d map? She prob only has access to the code only
Also it's so obvious they're in a simulation, and she created the simulation so even more obvious, and somlusk has no other place to appear apart from side order so that question doesn't make sense
For the war, it was just a race thing between the 2 most advanced animals at the time, squids and octopi, doesn't make sense to form legions or just be FFA when you can just kick out a whole other species, and fun fact about that, octolings are smarter than inklings and they were about to win the war but all the power from the octolings were connected to a single plug, and that got disconnected, so octolings ended up losing as they relied on their big weapons heavily

When I said simulation I didn't mean the Side order, I mean that spatfest when she said "it's funny because we live in a simulation and all free will is a lie", that hinted to the whole game itself, not just Side order (I think it would have been obvious, as you mentioned, since she, herself, made the simulation.
Also about the race war, one would expect thar the different species spread around in different factions, like us today who we spread in different countries, that's kinda my point.
And here's a hot-take at the end of Side-Order you can see that the damage dealt to Smollusk was 8888 obvious reference to agent 8, but in octo expansion we had the pocentage of the inking which was 888.88% dealt to Tartar, this could hint at the fact that agent 8, after getting her memories back, she improved, she got stronger
Another hot take is that Marina and Pearl are both in-game aware of the live performances they had with deep cut irl, which is hinted in one of the photos. Ok there's also the chance that she refers to a world tour in-game, not the live performances, we'll have to see. And while on the same topic, the photo of the squid sisters at Paris confirms that Splatoon 3 takes place in the Eastern part of America, since we see in the game an upside-down Effile tower (might have misspelled it) and thar could be the smaller version of the Effil tower that is situated in that area.
If we still talking lore, a theory of mine is that Marina the G-man, which after a while I've seen pop up in different places, where Marina is like the G-man of splatoon, where she can control a lot of things lime thime and space and even create her own poket dimensions (this last one was one thing proven by Side Order) she's still new ar this, but later on, and I mean, splatoon 4 DLC later, we might find her performing some crazy stuff at the end, like some burst of energy, 4th wall breaking and other stuff and then we'll get a conclusion of the splatoon games in Satoon 5 DLC. Now I know I might seem crazy, but just hear me out, it has solid ground and no disprovment, maybe we'll finally get the game on PC before that happens (so I can finally be able to play), but who knows?

Wait a minute, Marina says Agent 4 was introduced to Off the Hook by Craig Cuttlefish and in the diaries she says she may ask for help for system security from someone introduced by Captain Cuttlefish.... So 4 may be more involved in this
Yeah That is what the Parallel Canon Boss is, if you look closely during its introduction the inklings hair matches whatever your Agent 4's hair looked like in Splatoon 2

yeah, her entiries want to show she got complete desensitized after we beat smollusk for the first time, so she got her memories back and is normal again

Eight did recover their memories though! A good many of them, at any rate. They did this during the series of the octo expansion.
If you think about it, Eight has grown a lot from their first experiences. Their soul was big enough to comfortable keep 11 other souls and not realize they were doing it.
How I like to interpret it is that Eight is mostly "whole" and is now filling their memories with experiences of Pearl and Marina, hence the hacks. They don't need their old memories; they are too busy making new ones.

Yup it's confirmed Agent 4 is a bit to serious and talented, if she commits to something she goes all the way, it's also why she didn't know about the squid sisters, she was so busy with school and extra activities that she had no time for anything else.

Now we know that Acht/Dedf1sh recovered their memories and feelings completely (despite not having their own palette). However, now my question is... Are they actually back to normal and that last photo of their entries is them back to normal and sanitization leaving their body? Or is it when they were about to be sanitized?
Deep ramble about Acht and my various questions regarding their current state:
From what it can be interpreted along with the text given, it could be a moment back when they DJed in that "club down to the lowest levels of the base", yet we can see a small green/teal streak either heading towards them or leaving them. This could give a hint that they didn't willingly get sanitized, that they actually were kidnapped like the rest of the octolings.
In various moments of side order, Acht expressed how they were "put through" the sanitization, and how they were forced to DJ for Kamabo CO.. Yet, various texts imply that they willingly allowed Kamabo CO. to sanitize them out of their perfectionism and their wishes to not make music for others, but only for themselves. This wasn't truly clarified I think? And honestly, it's not that important but I would love to know if it was voluntary or not.
Another thing is, now that they have their memories back and it's confirmed that they are DJing on the surface, does that mean that their appearance is back to normal or are they still sanitized? Honestly, with how lazy Nintendo can be in some things, I assumed they wouldn't change Acht's model in case we completed the story, so I don't truly know if this is because it's their current appearance, their "soul" appearance in Memverse or just Nintendo not bothering themselves to make Acht's appearance back to normal.
In the Splatoon series, something that has been agreed upon is the fact that Inklings around age 14 gain full freedom not only from their squid and humanoid form but also from their features' colours. Various band members from Splatoon have shown this, such as the blue guy from Wet Floor (sorry I'm not as invested in Splatoon bands, I just remember the band names), the dumbo octopus (Raian I think it was, the green guy) from Chirpy Chirps. If they gain their memories back, would sanitized octolings gain their old appearance back or would they remain in those colours? Would they regain the ability to change their appearance and colours again now that they aren't controlled, or is it physically impossible to regain their past colours? This wasn't answered which is a shame and that last photo of Acht doesn't clarify (at least to me) whether this photo is currently them in the surface or them in that old club (or even in Kamabo CO., who knows).
I like to think that Acht would be back to their original appearance, but I can see them staying in the sanitized appearance too. I wish this was confirmed somehow as it is, in my opinion, an important detail to keep in mind. Agent 8, even if they were a test subject, also got their memories removed, yet they weren't sanitized like other octolings, and it isn't clarified whether all octolings were test subjects and later were sanitized to make use of their bodies or if Tartar did some selection of who was sanitized and who wasn't. Again, I wish this was clarified for lore purposes more than anything. It's a plot hole that has been bothering me since 2020 and I was hoping Side Order would clarify what happened to all these octolings after everything that went down in Octo Expansion.
Here is my ramble regarding Acht and sanitization victims in general, I wish Nintendo brought complete closure regarding the victims of sanitization, like their whereabouts, what happens to those who clean the spire of order (apart from regaining their memories and free will) and, for what it seems, why no one but Marina cared about treating sanitization victims.

I'm not as versed as you in Splatoon lore, but I assume sanitization victims are capable of recovering their memories and personality, but their skin color will remain green as an aftereffect. And perhaps the reason Marina seems to be the only one interested in saving them is because she is the only one with the expertise to do so? She was a prodigy/elite octoling, so I think she's still above other octolings skill-wise. Additionally, aren't all the higher-ups from the deepsea metro dead at this point? I assume that's why Marina is the only one who is able to try to restore the sanitized. Sorry if I'm missing something here, that's just what I take from it lol.

I do agree regarding Marina's expertise. With how she was able to create the Memverse along with other octoling engineers shows that not only Marina but octoling engineers are very very capable!
As for the higher-ups of Kamabo CO., it's true, it was mentioned after you complete Octo Expansion by C.Q. Cumber how Kamabo CO. was in disarray. However, it does seem like Kamabo CO. regain its wealth somehow with how Sea-cucumber phones are all the rage in the Splatlands and it was confirmed that they were all owned by Kamabo CO. . In fact, in Marina Dev's diaries, she confirms this as we all just saw, and not only does she confirm this, she also confirms that, although Kamabo CO. was almost wiped out completely, they still held all the memory data of all the sanitized octolings. This does hint that many sanitized octolings just... Stayed down in the test facilities, which is really sad know.
Now regarding the colours sanitization provokes remaining as an aftereffect, I do agree yet I have my doubts. Many in the Splatoon community like to draw Agent 3 with a sanitized scar (which does look cool all in all) but in the canon story, Agent 3 went back to normal without any aftereffect showing at all. Of course, we again have the plot hole of "Is this only possible if partially sanitized or is it also possible for completely sanitized octolings?" but, as always, Nintendo won't answer these questions LOL.

@@soffirechange Quick addition: I believe the lore pieces given to us in Octo Expansion not only confirm Marina's elite status (which was theorized initially anyway, because her tentacles's base color was black), but additionally implied that she's a prodigy, and perhaps even above her fellow elites? That combined with the fact that she is the first confirmed octoling to escape likely explains how she's still the only one who's started a project to restore the memories of the sanitized. In addition, she is an idol after all, and theoretically has the royalties to invest in said project.
On the sanitization bit, I always assumed Agent 3 went entirely back to normal because they were only partially sanitized (The source of said sanitization being the thing stuck on their face). I dunno if I'm wearing nostalgia glasses or what, but I feel like full-on sanitization was presented as a fairly horrifying concept, basically making the victims more-or-less zombies. Contrasting with Agent 3, doesn't the sanitization basically become a part of the victim's DNA? (Idk, maybe I just assumed that one). Either way, I just really like Acht's sanitized color scheme.
Oh well, at least it isn't FNAF lore.
There's an answer to this in game! You can meet Acht outside of the memverse, in Tableturf. There, they have their sanitized skin, but clearly have their memories and experiences from Side Order, as they comment on you (New Agent 3) being very similar to Eight. It seems that they kept her sanitized appearance, but they're perfectly good otherwise.

i have a theory
ORDER is a clone of TARTAR's files
in the beginning of log 4 it says that marina got tartars top secret files
obviously, order got into the simulation somehow,without marinas will
what if tartars files, or at least a part of them were saved in the memverse
almost like cloning tartars ai by accident and bringing it in the memverse as order
and order is using the memverse to create what tartar wanted the world to be
but the reason order/smollusk says it will help you when you beat it with all pallets is because, order/smollusk is created from tartar and isnt actually tartar,
in conclusion, order is created from tartars files and memory, with similar goals
that can be logical.
tartar has been long-waiting on deepsea metro for eons to spread the message from the scientist to the survivors or any new creatures who are new, not a sign of music heard from it's non existent ears, all it can think of is loneliness and goal to make sure humans never make mistakes, it's possible that even for 10k years the radiation or unhealthy environment like the subway station or surface of earth is still unhealthy can affect technology and such until all life restored with trees shown grown, marina and octarians are fond of technologies and mechanisms learnt by DJ Octavio before splatoon 1 began which is obvious, he took advantage of their taste and their airheaded minds to make a lot of places on the kamabo co., the test the coccyx,villi,belly,intestinal,diaphragm,peristalsis,spinal and statue of Nils.
those octarians has incredible talents to make giant machinery and places like the octobot kings and octarian domes, even make heavy objects experience light air gravity and make invisible paths.

Smollusk became its own person, it still wants to carry out its plans, but from what I noticed it wants to help Marina most of all, so in the end it might carry out its task I'm helping configure the palettes.

I like how Acht is unsanitized now. Not sure if the system remembers her husk body and loads her in that way, or she chooses to look like that (or it's probably an oversight...) but it's cool so I don't mind.

well that explains why she went to deepsea metro alone, to make music on her own for marina to impress but she got caught victim by the sanitization ooze unfortunately, and she however never got to hear the "calamari inkantation" because unlike other octarians she's a slacker laid off and well never got to trouble by the DJ.
However there's still some questions about octarians, where's the boys? is it all girl clam fest? blech.
also if marina is unique among other octarians as same tentacles as elite octolings, how is it possible to have kelp on your head?
lastly, if all the octarians being made by octavio, i can't help but I think octavio is literally losing his mind slowly by cutting of his tentacles.

Yeah I hope we're gonna get a new male protagonist in splatoon 4 as well as new male idols because the fact that we're just getting new female protagonists is overwhelming.

I hated this the most about SO. 80% of them is some pointless world tour and developing yapping and the actual interesting parts get rushed. And why did they make it seem like Acht and Marina were close friends but in the elevator they seemed like they barely knew each other lol.
