  • Plans for a water park on the Schuylkill River has everybody talking Friday. The University City District wants to build a two-story park adjacent to 30th Street Station and over the water.
Dan Snyder reports what it will take to make this dream a reality.
They're calling the proposed structure the West Philly Waterfront, and this week UCD revealed renderings that show how the finished project could look. The waterfront would sit above the river between Chestnut and Market Streets along Schuylkill Avenue.

The beach idea has promise, but the “Swiss cheese” part of the design looks cheap…not too many Frank Lloyd Wrights who can do modern in a way that’s not going to look dated in ten yrs.

But, but... the river will continue to rise because of climate change.
