- Movie recorded at a concert in Compiegne, France in February 2010.
Mike Sanchez is a Rhythm and Blues singer, pianist and songwriter of Spanish-English heritage. He is widely known for his work with the Big Town Playboys and Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings, and also for his highly-successful solo career. He is highly-acclaimed for his authenticity to the work of post-war blues shouters and piano players.
"Rocket 88" was the opening song on a great night of good old Rock 'n' Roll, Ryhthm & Blues and Boogie Woogie Piano Music in central France. Whilst Mike is undoubtedly the main driving force and 'head-honcho' of the Band, the other musicians are all top-notch pros and I found it a nice touch they were all introduced and name checked at the very start of the show.

What a player and what a great stage performer. Can't fail to be moving your hands and feet whilst he plays.
A master! And what a funny man! And what a band!!
He looks like he's having a blast!
No wonder I could NEVER find this particular video on youtube after spending significant time looking for it. It is mislabelled. This is Ramblin boogie, not Rocket 88. Either way. Found it again!
Awesome -- the best version of this song on youtube. Thanks!
Awesome! Love him!
GREAT! Very interesting performance.
I'm ready for the "La Bamba Boogie!"
ole from spain
Super 👑💣💣👏👏👍😎
very nice!!!!
Electrizante.
There is no way to settle the argument over what the first rock and roll record was but "Rocket 88" by Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats (actually Ike Turner and the Kings of Rhythm) is certainly in the running. It bears no resemblance to the song played by Mike Sanchez.
Great musicianship and a great beat - however they aren't performing "Rocket 88" in this clip, certainly not any version of it I've heard before.
Just FYI, great song and you should listen to the original by Brenston & the Delta Cats, with Ike Turner, from I think it was 1951. Just type "Rocket 88" in the search bar and you should see it.
👍🇨🇵🖐️
yes
The guy is Bad Ass
ramblin boogie
those who clicked "dislike" have no ears.
Those were fascists.
I like Sanchez. That's All Right (Mama)" is the 1st Rock & Roll song. ("Rocket '88" rocks out, but is a fast shuffle blues. Rock is 2/4 time) Based on that (and much more) Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup (Crew'-duhp) who first began doing his music that way is (if any one-only can be named such) the actual "Father of Rock. What sucks is: Arthur NEVER was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame, under 'Influences', even though so MANY he influenced in one way or another have been! And he never got a royalty
Mike Sanchez is great. But this isn't "Rocket 88"
I made that suit for him. I didn't get a penny
i think the name of the band is rocket 88 ...not the song greetings from great britain
After all that listening, the drummer comes in PUSHING IT. Sorry, but it's trying to roll like square wheels. Piano man's good. I'm an old drummer AND piano player who knows what he's talkin' about..
@gromacs1

Dude, Rocket 88 was the first R&R song,
You should be ashamed
