  • Great fishing trip I had last weekend, Plenty of Sea Trout hitting the lures and a overall of 3 Landed and returned safely. In this video I will try give a bit of advice on How to Catch Sea Trout more effectively using Lures!! The location of choice was a small sea Loch in the West of Scotland, Thankfully the weather was on my side however with it being early morning the midgies were out in force! Towards the the end of the film, I managed to hook a extremely nice size sea trout, the fight was unreal, Hopefully you all enjoy the video and maybe some beginners may pick up a few bits of advice hopefully,

    Was fishing recenntly on an estuary .fish jumping everywhere.I tried sandeel, mackeral , about three different lures not a single biite . The wind was northerly but light. They seem to be very phussy and only feed at certain times or i might be just terrible at fishing.

    • @theanglingfront
      @theanglingfront  Před 19 dny

      That happens so much it’s unbelievable, I’ve literally casted to where fish were rising and they don’t even think about taking it, they normally just follow the lure in and then bugger off 😂 they can be very fussy at times, and it can be frustrating on our part when you know they are there but for whatever reason they are not interested 😂 that’s what I love about sea trout however, it’s so unpredictable, but if you keep putting the time in you will get the reward!! I always tend to keep the lure on the surface and reeling in at a faster pace especially when I see them rising

    Used to catch a lot of sea trout on a 12g Abu krill or bridun lance lure. Would lose more than landed as they throw hook so easy . This changed the i day added 2nd split ring at business end and hardly ever lost a fish from then on . Best tip I can add .

      @theanglingfront  Před měsícem +1

    • @Kevin-l4
      @Kevin-l4 Před měsícem

      @theanglingfront I think it's same principle as when we used to add extra swivel on Abu tobys when salmon fishing . Because of shape of the toby it can have a crowbar effect ripping hook out with the leverage . Sea trout are soft in the mouth and extra ring just doesn't give then the leverage when thrashing about .

      @theanglingfront  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Hi Dunc, really appreciate your comment, means a lot mate, and for me personally, last year targeting Sea Trout from February and March was extremely successful, they were really active during the earlier part of the season here on the west of Scotland, so I reckon it’s defiantly worth it Dunc!!

    • @dunc2258
      @dunc2258 Před 9 měsíci +2

      @theanglingfront2555 unfortunately the freshwater season applies to saltwater here in Wales, pretty its similar in the rest of the UK. Scotland might be slightly different.
      Anyway I can't legally target them until April 1st.
      I suppose I could target an unlikely Feb/march bass with ummm say small metals like tobys and super sprats 😜 any sea trout "accidentally" caught would be returned anyway. I'd imagine they'd be really out of condition so wouldn't make great eating

      You must have permit to fish for migratory fish (salmon and sea trout). It is possible to catch sea trout when targeting other species such as pollock but, unless you have a permit, you must return them. There is a distance (which I can't remember), which if you're fishing within that distance of the mouth of a river that has migratory fish then you must obtain a permit. If a bailiff catches you taking a sea trout without a permit he has the power to seize anything that facilitated the catching of that fish, up to and including the vehicle you travelled in. On the plus side, there are no rod licences in Scotland.

    Nice video.
    What conditions make you decide to use:
    - bombarda plus fly
    - metal lure e.g. ISP
    - Fly rod ?

      Hi mate, thanks, I don’t really pay close attention with regards to conditions to be honest, as long as it’s not windy I like to try cast the fly rod, and if I’m feeling like using the metal lures that day I will cast them instead, it’s just what I feel is the most enjoyable that day 😁

    Great fishing mate 🎣
    do you use the trebles on those seekers I always use single hooks after witnessing the carnage trebles can cause especially with sea trout .

      Thanks mate, and yeah I debarb the hooks but singles are definitely the way forward, going to incorporate them into my next few sessions next time I’m using the lures, 🤘🏻🎣

      @@theanglingfront can miss one or 2 but with the good fishing ur having there I'd definitely use the singles not only less damage but so much easier to un hook and release
      The line through seekers help with hookups too as cant use the wrieght of the lure to throw the hook . I watch a lot of Scandinavian sea trout lure fishing worth a look too

      Hi David, your probably right, I’m still terrible at guesstimates on weights as I’ve never actually weight a fish before, I always just go off what people who have think it could be
