1988 was a great year for HC. I could hear the YOT influence all over the place and I loved it. I wish I still had those 7”s. I judge all new hardcore by the old stuff which is why I like little of the post ‘87-‘88 hardcore. Hardcore is always changing though. It can’t be 1988 forever. I’m 54 years old and I’ve had the CD of Breakdown ‘87 Demo in my car stereo for 2 weeks!
classic 7", wide awake, cornerstone, yot, gorilla biscuits, antidote, uirban waste, cro mags demo, and mighty lifes blood. back then i taped all the 7"s on discography tapes. pumping on my walkman and riding my bike as amessenger.
1988 was such a good year for hardcore. Graduated from high school. Skateboarding and going to shows. Best summer ever.
I was 6 years old then, started skating in 1989-1990. I literally grew up with this stuff... still amazing!

I can’t disagree but I gotta say ‘82 was as good or better!! Those second wave bands in 88 did help save a genre on the decline though!
