Thanks for watching. If you enjoy my video and would like to say thanks you can now buy me a coffee! This will just help me to be supported while I continue to make these videos for everyone to enjoy. Cheers to all my wonderful subscribers! www.buymeacoffee.com/JohnsFur... - Jak na to + styl
Don’t let the trolls influence your content. It’s real easy to sit behind a keyboard and act mean and be a know it all. Ignore them, and as you always do,just do the best you can. You have years of experience, the best tools and infinite patience . Carry on!
❤❤❤ Best comment ever!
I would block them. They don't deserve you.
You do the best you can. And it turned out well. Sometimes the road is bumpy.😊
I'm amazed you were able to fix that veneer.
I'm working on a deck of nightstand in your technique on repairing the buckle veneer is invaluable.
Came out awesome and I love the color. 👍👍👍
Taking on the challenge of the damage was impressive. The end result was really good. The ways to the end can always be discussed, but that's the fun! Keep up the good work, both the jobs and the videos, and ignore (or block) the people who like to be negative. Good to see shop dog! I hope working with your parents is working out!
Your first responsibility is to your customer, not your CZcams audience. If you found yourself getting frustrated and videoing the process became stressful, you did exactly the right thing by turning off the camera and finishing the job. The result is beautiful and you should be proud of your work. Thanks for sharing with us.
Yes. Thankyou so much!
Once again I’m blown away at how skilled you are at transforming a disaster into a treasure.
Loved the video and the virtual experience. I love all your work and this piece turned out beautiful.
First-time commenter here from the States. Bravo, you are human! We all make mistakes. As a female, almost 76, I've made plenty. But, young lady, you picked yourself up and created a masterpiece! You are a talented woodworker! Please don't be so hard on yourself. If a troll wants to spew hate, let them. The vast majority of viewers admire your work. Love and hugs, young friend!❤😊
Thanks
What a beauty! I love your explanation of why not to sand a waterfall edge. That's something that most amateur refinishers wouldn't know. Thanks for sharing that bit of info.
Thank you very much!
You certainly have a right to be proud of yourself. That work is exceptional.
😉
Don't ever doubt yourself. Trials like that just reinforce how talented you are. You always turn out amazing work!!
Thank you so much!
Beautiful! I never miss a John's Video because of your integrity and caring for the customer. ❤
Thank you! 😊
You worked through it and made it beautiful. That's what counts.
The mark of a true professional craftsman is not that they never make mistakes it's when they do one will never know b the end product. Thanks for sharing. Will be there for the next video.
Great comment! My thoughts too. In a way, I think the re-do made it even better.
Takes character .
Your results were great.
Easter blessings to you.
My dad used to say a good carpenter knows how to cover their mistakes. As great as your carpentry skills are, love watching your colour work. Fantastic job on this piece as always.
Wow, I was afraid the customers decision to do this "basic" repair, was going to end up taking much more time and money. But you pulled it out of your...hat 😅 and turned into a beautiful result❤👏
@@noreenspruyt6890 I also appreciated your color work . On the furniture also.
“Knocking it out of the park” is an understatement, it turned out beautifully, that’s the difference between a professional and an amateur, you work it till it works. Thanks for all the information you gave on refinishing waterfall edges, really appreciate your efforts and honesty. Thanks for the video, nice to know and see the pros have issues from time to time.
🥰👍
We’ve all had that “why the hell did I do that, I know better” moment. The fact that your skills make it all better is what’s so impressive.
Thankyou
You are far more knowledgeable than the people who comment here, Trena. You are also very generous to share your expertise. This is another example of your integrity and ability. Another masterpiece! Thank you.💗
So nice of you
People say “don’t stress, don’t worry”. But that’s what causes you to strive for perfection, and not except “just good enough”. And I totally love your honesty and sense of humor makes me smile. ❤
Thankyou!
It turned out great it is great that you are your own critic that means your heart is in your work
Mistakes are how we learn new things. Last time I checked there wasn't anybody currently on the planet who doesn't make mistakes. What makes you an amazing person is you not only admit your mistakes, you keep working until you fix them. You are an amazing, talented woman. I enjoy all your meticulous work.❤
🥰
It takes a lot of integrity to admit when one didn't do everything right, and I admire you for that. However, the end result did turn out beautiful.
Thankyoi❤️
Wow, wow, wow Trena!! You really bought this sideboard back to its original glory 😍👏🤩 Please know you are an amazing woodworker, teacher and an inspiration - if I can end up being 10% of the woodworker you are, I’ll be thrilled to bits!! ❤️❤️❤️
🥰
Trena, OMG what a fantastic result!! It’s okay to be irritated at yourself if something doesn’t go as planned. That happens to me all the time.😂😂😂 BUT please don’t doubt yourself or your abilities. You do wonderful work that many of us truly envy. I’m 70 and have been doing this stuff for decades. You put me to shame with how truly gifted and talented you are. I learn from every one of your videos. Keep believing in yourself because I certainly believe in you.
Thanks so much! 😊
Trena, when we self assess/correct ourselves, it's exactly the right thing to do. You did, very honestly and you also shared with us. You are such a winner and a woman of value and great character. I want you to know that I watch because of your technique and skill at just about any situation arising in furniture restoration and repair. Your no nonsense approach and with such practicality and resourcefulness is a marvel to watch. There will be a next time and I know you will remember to record tt all, no matter what happens during the process. Happy Resurrection Sunday 🌼⚘️🌷🌻
Thankyou very much. Happy Good day
Trena: You always knock it. out of the park. I am amazed at your skill and artistry!
Thankyou🥰
I’m so glad this worked out for you & the customer. I like when creative people show their “mistakes” & what they do to fix them. I learn a lot from those type of videos. I want to see the great, the good, the bad, and the fixes. ❤
I totally agree!
I applaud your efforts to avoid redoing that veneer. Preserving the past is worth the effort.
Thankyou I agree!
This is a great video. Thanks for sharing it with us. I am a goldsmith. I studied metal working in school. It was not until I was out in the real world repairing old pieces that I learned the craft. The folks who fix things are first and foremost problem solvers. There are many ways to get the job done, no one way is the best. Thanks for the view of what it is actually like to repair pieces.
Glad it was helpful!
You didn't give up.
You didn't burn it all to the ground.
You kept working and trying your best.
And you succeeded.
We all, especially in the US, need role models like you.
It looked beautiful!
Thanks for that
It looks fantastic!! Don't sweat it .... we all have self doubts and are our greatest critics. Anyone that works with their hands and takes pride in their work has projects that feel like a train wreck in slow motion. There are times I've needed to walk away ..... work on it in my head and formulate a plan, then go back with fresh eyes and renewed strength. God bless!
Thankyou!
Beautiful job as always, Trena! Even if you got frustrated with the project at one point, your frustration is simply a manifestation of your heartfelt desire to do it right! And the end result is stunning! Way to go!
Yes! Thank you!
You, AT Restoration and Flipping Drawers are our 3 go to renovation channels because of your professionalism, skill, respect for the furniture and your high standards. None of you ever disappoint even on a tough project. We actually applauded when we saw the completed piece
Hi Trena, Tim here. The difference between a good carpenter and a bad carpenter is the good carpenter is able to fix his mistakes, a bad carpenter doesn't even know he made one. I have watched your channel for years, I think this is the first time I commented. You are an amazing finisher, I put you in the same category as Thomas Johnson and I know you know who he is!!! Timothy
Wow! Very greatful for the compliment❤️
The design is gorgeous. Im sure Trena will fix it right up, better than new. Time to watch and learn...
great job Trena. you shouldn't let life's "bumps" throw you down. sometimes knowingly we make the wrong decisions but the true greatness is to turn the situation around!!!
Do not sell yourself short! That is an absolute winner! No one is perfect in what they do, but hey, you are getting close!
Good work. The beginning with your pup nicely foreshadows the lesson of this video. We aren’t in total control and that’s not only ok, it’s a good thing to be embraced.
Agree
Wow, Trena! The patches are INVISIBLE! You are a magician at blending. Your Dad must be SO proud of you. Heck, as a fellow Saskatchewanian, I'M proud of you! I can tell you put a WHOLE lot of extra, meticulous time in to match things the way you did. You restored and saved yet ANOTHER piece of vintage furniture and saved it from the garbage dump. Well done! I am in awe of your talent and I thoroughly enjoy watching your labours of love. Congratulations and Happy Easter to you and your family!
Thank you so much!
😯Omggggggg ! 😯
🤩 TRENA ! You ROCK ! 🤩
SUPER DELICIOUS RESTORATION ! ! ! ! This should get a bazillion likes ! Dangggggggg ! ! 🤩😍
😇❤
Lol🥰🥰🥰
Не нужно так переживать, Трена. Вы мастер, и мы все это знаем. Ошибок не бывает у тех, кто ничего не делает. У вас всё получилось на отлично, впрочем как всегда )))) Удачи вам во всём.❤
Thankyou!
A true master of a craft is always learning. Things not turning out as anticipated is learned knowledge. It turned out flawless and that's what counts! Thanks for taking us along for the ride so we can learn too :)
Thanks again!
It turned out beautiful. We are often our own harshest critics, and often the least credible. Total strangers on the internet are least of all credible (I know this includes me,) but there are usually very supportive folks like me that really value your contribution to the world. Remember this moment when you start having doubts in the future, and don’t troll yourself most of all.
Lol thanks John 🥰
Self doubt is not allowed on Team Trena ! 😀 As always you pulled a disater back to beautiful. You have tremendus skill and the worlds best teacher. Always a joy to watch you work .
Awe. Yes I agree💪
Is it just me or does everybody love to watch these veneer repairs??? Love the technical skill and artistry of watching pieces that look like they will never work, end up fitting in beautifully. #Impressed 😊
Thankyou
I don't know why I watch these videos, it's kind of a busman's holiday. I've been refinishing pianos for what feels like a lifetime, and I have been in your exact situation a number of times. Veneers can be so hard to work with, but with your skill, experience and perseverance you got through to the other side. You should be pleased with yourself. Congrats on a job well done.
Thankyou!
Dear Trena! The pangs of creativity are a sign of talent.
This piece needed a miracle and you gave it one, it's BEAUTIFUL!
Trina, we all love your honesty and openness, it gives you credibility, go you! 👏🏻
The finish looks fabulous. The repairs have just blended in perfectly.
Thankyou
Such a beautiful ending!!! Wonderful hug to you Trena
🤗
Trena, your work is always beautiful! ❤
Integrity and expertise. You've got it. And you look good doing it! Who could ask for more?
Don't stress Trena! It's all okay.
Wow ! You sure did "knock it out of the park" as you said !
That is knowing the result you want, and not settling until you achieve it.
Absolutely beautiful repair work.
Thankyou!
Mistakes are a part of life. They are what we use to learn from.
You are VERY talented! And, this piece proves it. 👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow, your finished restauration is nothing short of remarkable... When I saw the damage at the start, I thought no way can that just be re-glued.. Then when you took of the clamps I thought, Yep that is going to be ugly..
But when you showed the end result, it was just perfect, invisible, like it had never been damaged.. Such skill & talent.
Don't stress to much. You did a wonderful job, and it came out beautiful!!! Oh, and Happy Easter to you and your family.
Thank you! You too!
Tena, this piece turned out beautiful. Don't sell yourself short. You are an artist with wood bringing the damaged back to life
Thankyou!
@debrasmith it's Trena
Sorry Trena
Not every project goes perfectly, but you are being too hard on yourself. Your work is incredible, and I'm in awe of your talent and skill. It turned out so beautiful!
Thank you so much!
Your ability to grain match timber and colour blend timver is so amazing, you make the most difficult tasks look easy. You knock ever piece out of the park! Your customers agree. We all have that one project at work that we aren't happy with, projects that fight us every step of the way but its these projects that truly teach us.
Thank you very much!
I’ve honestly learned more about how to recover from my mistakes from watching this channel and Thomas Johnson’s channel. I really believe mistakes are inevitable, but how you respond is what’s important. The only way perfection could be achieved is by doing nothing so I’ll never have a perfect record.
So true
Oh Trena. That cabinet is astonishingly beautiful. It was a total wreck when you got it. You had bumps on the road but you got there! I think seeing that even the absolute professionals, which you are, run into problems encourages those of us that are really hard on ourselves too. I can't imagine how difficult it is to run into the criticism public people encounter. It is easy for us to say "don't let it get to you". Much easier said than done. At the end of the day, you know how much you care. You know how willing you are to extend yourself on behalf of the people lucky enough to bring their prized possessions for you to rescue. Those items mean a lot to the people who own them. You are making the world a better place and you own that! Nothing and no one can take that away from you.
Thankyou❤️❤️
I love the respect and intensive care you show every piece. I learn from you each video. And I’m an old lady 🦋
What a lesson that was: never stop filming, because a miracle may happen, and there's always editing.........wow, I could not see the patches in those photos. The finish was awesome.
Thankyou!
I was so looking forward to watching you work on the finishing too! Looks like you made a superb job of it, as usual tho', well done. Trena!
Thank you very much!
Thank you for the finger pickin’ music. I haven’t been able to get any sleep in 3 days. Fully refreshed I’ll watch the video again. 😃
Lol awesome
Trena, we love, love, love what you do. You are a miracle worker. XX
You always do amazing work. I for one have no complaints and would never, never hesitate to have your work skills done on any of my furniture. Its doesnt matter how you start, its how you finish. And the finished product was perfect. Thank you Trina for letting us see your ups and downs in the shop.
Thank you very much!
We all have those kinds of projects - you powered through and it looks awesome. Thanks for sharing the information about the construction and sanding waterfall edges. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for watching!
Excellent! You are the furniture Guru.
Wow! I don't know why you doubt yourself. Your work is always impeccable. You are not only a great restorer, you are an artist.
Thanks so much 😊
Girl, you knocked it out of the ballpark. It looks great. You learn more by making mistakes than by not making mistakes. It's obvious you know how to correct them when made.
Thankyou
I can tell by your voice how upset you are but no need Trena. You've done a fantastic job and it looks amazing!!! Greetings from A Coruña, Spain
Thankyou❤️
You ALWAYS do superior work Trena! Don’t listen to the armchair geniuses.
Always love your work Trenna.
I admire your honesty and integrity when "dealing" with difficult projects and finishes.
Give "Shop 🐕 dog " a big hug from me. 💖🐕💛✨️💖
Will do🥰
Lesson learned on my first job: Always admit your mistakes. Thank you for telling us the full story--nice recovery! It breaks my heart when. people "upcycle" old pieces by using wood filler for missing veneer and painting the whole thing. That sideboard is fantastic.
Dang girl! Nice recovery! 💪💥💪💥💪 💜💜💜
I can tell you that the finished product, looked as if it was first done at the factory. The cabinet was in a masters hands. Im so glad you showed us the final product.
I have been in the medical profession for 45 years, a good deal of that very hands on. I have learnt infinitely more from my mistakes than I ever did from my successes.
Magic in the Master’s Hand….! Kudos !
Nice work Trena. I am 71 years old and have been doing this work for 50 years. Even so I still learn new things from young whippersnappers like you. Oh yeah, Transcend too.
That is awesome!
Like most of those who know your work, I had not one second of doubt that this would turn out beautifully. And it did.
Dont worry about things Trena! I magician doesnt reveal his tricks or it doesnt continue to be magic! As long as you and the customer are happy with the end results, then its all good.
I appreciate all the hard work you put into a piece whether its restoring or just cleaning it up a bit. You put 100% of yourself into every project and when things start to go sideways, like this piece, its better to stop filming and concentrate all your efforts into getting the piece where it needs to be.
Thank you for getting us photos of the end results! It looks gorgeous!❤
Thankyou very much!
Excellent save!!!!You should have kept filming it Trena , at the point after bleaching, and wiping on the stain , I knew you had knocked it out of the park . Great job as always
Szkoda, że nie ma całego filmu. Dobrze jest podpatrywać pracę Mistrzów !
Efekt końcowy wspaniały!
Zdrowia i powodzenia Szanownej Pani życzę.
Thankyou to you as well.
Love when you say "So Anyways"!!!! Love your positivity! Seemed extremely tedious but as always, You did it and it turned out beautiful!! Thank you for being REAL! We all have "those" times!❤
Thanks so much! 😊
Dang Trina! If your customer only knew what you went through. But, like you said, you knocked it out of the park in the end. It looks amazing! You are a master at what you do and it's OK to make mistakes. You figured it out.
Thanks!
Unless in the next vid, you walk on water, not sure how you can top this for difficulty overcome by skill and dertermination. Couldn't even see your patches on the final footage. You ROCK, Trena. Even with the missing footage, thanks for sharing this amazing save.
Thankyou so much!
I scrutinised the top for the patches, at last after several passes I spotted them; a very nice job. As for the rest of the piece I particularly like the variety of woods and the variety of details so it was nice to see it 'sorted' properly, TY Trena. 😄👍
Thankyou!
You are the best
The only thing I see wrong is the TV hiding a beautiful job
Ok you’re right. In the middle of this project it was hard to visualize how those patches would work in, but your hands preformed miracles and it looks flawless! Well done.. the recovery is remarkable!
Yes! Thank you!
You got this... the final results is what counts. It was seriously damaged and your expertise and patience made it beautiful again. Excellent work!
Thank you so much!!
Hugs to you Trena! You did a great job. It's great when you show us your ❤. No apologies necessary. I still love the color of your nails . Cheers.
Thank you so much 🤗
You ABSOLUTELY knocked it out of the park, as always! ❤ Thanks for the after shots showing how well it turned out. Ignore the naysayers. You know what you're doing even though it went a bit wonky. You knew what you wanted and got there. ❤
Thanks again!
Lemons to lemonade! Turned out fantastic!
Trena ,we all have rough days where things just don't seem to go right you have nothing to be sorry about, the end product turned out outstanding be proud of your accomplishment it's awesome , naysayers will always be that way ,My wife and I enjoy watching you bring life back into furniture that people entrust to you and in the years we have been watching you ,you have never Failed ,Happy Easter ,Love your Videos
Thanks so much
Don't ever worry that you would disappoint us. You do wonderful work! It did come out great. Everyone has days that are not so good so join the rest of us. This was a great video as always. Have a Great Easter with your family.
Thanks you too!
You did just fine Trena! 🤗 Don't let negativity get you down, ignore the back seat drivers!💝
Oh Jeez Trena! You are an artist and hardly any woodworkers watching your channel would ever dream of taking on what you do, let alone making it actually work. You don’t need to answer to us - we already think you are wonderful.
🥰
Trena, you did indeed knock it out of the park! I wish we could have seen how you finished this piece! The patches aren't visible! That's what being a professional wood finisher means! Really super job.
Thank you so much!
I surely wish there was someone like you in my neck of the woods. I totally admire your guts/skills. Not many would take on these challenging projects. I'm always amazed at what you pull off Trena...totally awesome work!
Thanks 👍
Most people wouldn't take on a piece with so much veneer lifting, and I am amazed watching your step-by-step progress along with explanations. The difficulty in colour and grain matching is something only a very skilled artist like you can make invisible! Well done, and it's stunning!
Thankyou!
You hit a GRAND SLAM TRENA! Never mind just out of the park but a GRAND SLAM! Bravo👏👏👏👏👏👏
You know, it's really helpful for us amateurs to know that the pros make mistakes and aren't happy with how things go. We can learn a lot from watching someone fix the things that go wrong. I would have liked to see the footage of how you blended those patches in.
Yea me too
