    Same issue with the grab handles on the Tiger 1200....I just assembled a Reckless 80 revolver and ran into the same thing...just makes it stick out a little, not as flush with the side of the bike.

      It is still workable though right? It is a minor nuisance on the AT but I think with a little work and usage it all gets pretty easy.

    Anywhere where the straps contact the bike I’ve threaded the strap through an old bicycle tube, the straps do wear quickly if not checked regularly.

    Something I am very curious about, and haven't read much about anywhere: Do you think you can use the Reckless with a passenger? As in, can you get it mounted all the way on the mounting plate, and keep the passenger seat clear (and room for the legs)?

      Sorry for the late reply but yes. You CAN use it with a passenger but it will be pretty tight up there. It all sort of depends on how far back you might the system. It can be done but I don't know that it is an optimal way to do it.

    hi a question, would the reckless 80 fit the AT standard model with just the one alt rider plate at the very back. I see that you have 2 of the alt rider plates, one for the passenger seat and one at the back. If I left the passenger seat as it is (no alt rider) and just installed the very back plate that you have, would the reckless 80 fit the bike. Thanks

      Yes. It wouldn’t be a problem. The attachment points I use are at the passenger pegs and the rear of the back plate. The plate at the passenger seat just gives me a little extra space to pack under the R80 but nothing you would miss.

      Thank you for taking the time to answer. I really appreciate it. One more question, If im 90% tarmac and my off-road is limited to hardpacked roads, light gravel. Can I just do the Alt rider lower bars? and skip the uppers. If I do this, I may opt for the lone rider bags, Ive owned them before. They are very good, semi rigid and will not tip the bike over fully. The combo will then be , bark busters, alt rider lower, lone rider bags. I really appreciate your feedback, as you have first hand experienc with the AT. Im thinking of getting one , standard 2024. DCT. Im 65 years old, 6ft1. in good shape. @@BeGoneForGood

      I have heard of these types of issues before as I was researching the tire but it was never something I dealt with in any way. Now to be fair, I am a very cautious rider and don’t really “carve” corners even in the best of conditions so the tires worked perfectly for me.

      Better than good, it is incredible. You cannot go wrong on the Africa Twin in my estimation. I love this bike and the advancements they have made on the later models only make them better. You are going to love it.

      So, most of my R80 sits over the pillion portion so you could mount a top box behind that. I don’t know how much the mounting hardware would get in the way of the straps but as far as space, it should work fine.

    Their stuff looks awesome, but just too expensive. Think I'm gonna get a Tusk setup.

      I am so glad you chose to reach out with this question. I totally agree with you that the Mosko stuff is super expensive but I am a big fan of it as you can tell. However, my buddy that is coming on the MABDR trip with us in two days just installed Tusk soft panniers so if you stay tuned, you’ll get a full look and review.
      How is that for perfect timing? ;-)

    Helpful video, thanks. Looks like it served you well on the MABDR. Considering getting this for my first extended trip, but hesitant to buy something so expensive for just that purpose. Basically if I’m spending $1k I want to use it every day to get the value. Do you use this system for commuting or daily riding or just for trips like the BDR? If the latter what are your thoughts as using it for everyday riding/commuting and what is your every day set up? Really appreciate your content and feedback!

      Thanks for watching and leaving feedback.
      First things first, Mosko stuff is EXPENSIVE but I’ve never regretted a single purchase decision even years down the road which I think says something for the overall quality of the product.
      As you had mentioned I do in fact use this pretty regularly for commuting. When I’m not traveling, I stow the leg bags and basically just use them as huge side holsters for whatever I’m grabbing, milk, shoes, packages, or whatever. They are deep enough that I don’t worry about stuff bouncing out and I generally buckle the top regardless.
      The best and most often used part of the system when not traveling is the beaver tail portion. Normally, I use a different bag than the dry bag included because I carry a lot and don’t need it waterproof. It’s a quick buckle and cinch to be gone and I love the convenience of it.
      The extra pockets have full time basic tools and straps in there which is nice in a pinch but the whole R80 works really well whether it’s full or empty and everything in between.

    So how are you going to pick up the bike without the seat handles?

      That is a great question and it initially was a difficult issue. I have used the bag itself and the passenger peg mounts as alternatives in some instances. If you really need it, you can feed your hand in there a little to still use the handles. It obviously isn't ideal but it is still manageable if you really work at it.

    On some trips where you need to mount & unmount every day that's too much "strapping" (?) but that is just an impression for now - I have not experienced it yet. Also, a sober design would be welcome, I mean #MOSKO bag set up screams: look at me I am expensive. I know, the bike already does that too, but in some places it is preferable to keep low profile with $$$...
    OH, I forgot to ask, what is your crash bar brand please? Thanks for sharing!

      That is a really good point and especially amongst riders, the Mosko brand is top of the line. I might take your advice and do some stitch ripping of the branding just to give it a lower profile. To be fair to all the "strapping", I made the process seem much more difficult and extensive than it really is. You can go from slick to mounted in probably 2-3 minutes once you have the pattern down.
      The crash bars are the AltRider lower, mid, and uppers with the bash plate. I did an install of the system here: czcams.com/video/bZIWpLJuMTU/video.html

      @@BeGoneForGood Thanks for your link! I found one brand that makes good bags with simpler look: Enduristan, you probably know it too. I always cover logos with some matte gaffer tape (gaffer is used in photography world) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaffer_tape
      One thing to remember is to replace the gaffer as with longer time in place the glue of the tape may harden and leave some residue on the covered surface (I change my gaffer taping twice a year or when worn out)
