This leg of our trip takes us to the southern part of the island. Kizimkazi is a fishing village and one of the more untouched villages of Zanzibar.
For our Kizimkazi leg, we explore the lesser known parts of Zanizbar and showcase the spectacular natural beauty here.
We found serenity, privacy and untouched beaches on the south of the island.
From about 13h00, the tide is out and there are sections along the shore with knee high warm magical water. The reflection of the sky and seaweed made for an incredible blend of colour.
Fishing vessels aground at low tide as far as the eye can see - there's nothing more fitting than this to signify a fishing village.
As one of the quieter beaches in Zanizbar, there aren't many places to eat along the beach but that's okay. There's a small locally run seafood restaurant serving up a catch or two of the day. Alternatively, local fisherman also arrange seafood barbeques right on the beach.
Overlooking Menai Bay is Lala Land Lodge. It's a very short drive from Kizimkazi Beach and well appointed for some of the most incredible views you will probably experience on the island. Everyone speaks about the sunsets at the north of the island, but here on the southern part of the island, it's something to behold.
On a coral rock rock cliff with white traditional beach bungalows and direct access to the ocean by way of stairs carved in between the coral rock, Lala Land Lodge was more than accomodation. It was an experience to watch the waters caress the coral rock at high tide and retreat in shades of blue at low tide. Check out Lala Land Lodge on Booking.com! www.booking.co...
Mtende Village is situated within a conservancy on the southern part of the island.
We were greeted by Banana plantations in and around the village and massive Baobab trees. The area is a true example of what can be achieved when the natural environment is conserved. We found this incredible lookout point before entering the main beach, just take a look at those views.
In the afternoons, remarkable pools of warm water form in and around large coral rocks.
A good time to visit Mtende is from about 14:00 in the afternoon. If you yourself in Kizimkazi, Mtende is only about a 30 minute drive.
An immediate and striking feature of Mtende are the overhanging coral rock cliffs capped with lush vegetation.
These cliffs are akin to naturally formed coral awnings lining the shores!
Of all the beaches we visited on the island, Mtende's coral rock formations are closest to the shoreline.
The formations are so neatly circular that it looks man made. The dramatically low tides here really do expose the under water wonders!

Thank you for this. Would you in your opinion feel that there is a need for exclusive sailing Catamaran day cruises? Your input would be valuable.

Thanks for watching! It is much appreciated. Based on our experience of the island, we were able to immerse ourselves in the culture, surroundings and the vibe quite effectively without opting for activities like cruises. However, it could be a good option for you if you are keen on exploring some of the snorkeling spots, sand bars and mini islands surrounding

I like this beach. We vacationed here with family and friends. And we swam on the sinking sandy land. It was amazing! I also have a video about it.
