Hendrix's Angel is associated with dustoffs. Borne to Be Wild is mounting up and taking off in a Company sized air assualt. Tull's Locomotive Breathe sounds like going into a hot LZ. The beat reminds me of the huge rocket pods on Hueys firing. The Stones Gimme Shelter reminds me of heavy casualties on that LZ.
Wow, never thought of it that way. The pain of the Vietnam war bleeds throughout the music in that era. I would add some early Sabbath to your list though.
The "droplets" in the last scene were CBU (Cluster Bomb Units). Of all the ordnance dropped from the skies, these were one of the deadliest and most feared by any enemy unit. Each bomblet would detonate on impact ejecting ballbearing sized shrapnel in all directions. If dropped in large enough numbers, many would detonate only meters apart having a large effective kill range. Even hiding behind a tree or rock was not safe. The only true safe spot would be to find a deep enough indentation or hole in the ground to avoid getting hit.
The UXOs when then turned into IEDs which then killed or maimed many of our troops. 😒
Outstanding! I've never seen the beach staffing video before. Good stuff. My Uncle told me the small bomblets would get hung up in trees unexploded. Had to be careful in the 'Nam he'd say.

and the worst part: the us was on the verge of victory. straight up after the failure of the TeT offensive, the NCA was ready to negotiate, but the politicians made sure victory and peace would never take place.
